Food smuggling is a risk taking behavior. If the penalty is only a few hundred dollars, many travelers will continue to try their luck. The bird’s nest and cordyceps in the video would worth a few thousand AUD easily in the market, if they are of good grade. The male officer asked the young man, “why didn’t u declare the food…”? Just a small piece breaking off, or falling from a garbage bin, then blowing down the street is enough to begin a massive epidemic of bird flu; which is fatal not just to commercial poultry but to delicate (and critically endangered) wild birds that have no resistance to foreign disease strains. The collapse of a group of birds has significant knock on effects to whole ecosystems. Australian border biosecurity is critically important as many species here are significantly different to and have been protected from species from other parts of the world. The $340 fine is a sick JOKE. Pocket money for about 95% of the culprits, and an INCENTIVE to try and smuggle things into Australia. In Canada, it is $700. WAKE UP Aussie authorities.

A heads up for anyone following these episodes (especially if you're trying to track them with something like Trakt) --- according to TVDB, S10 had 8 episode in aired order, and 16 in DVD order. There is no S10E19, I think in general they've just kinda been making up the episode orders as they go along

I don’t understand when the personnel states people are fidgety and that is suspect. On two occasions I have had my bags searched by customs agents. I had no reason to worry, nothing to feel guilty over but, I tell you, I was uptight & fidgety nonetheless.
