    What a sick van. One of the best I’ve ever seen. That’s probably the best you can make a G&E van given the space. I’m debating on next year if the money allows a 20’ box truck to compliment my sprinter. The prices are so close and you can fit so much stuff in them. The downside is the DOT stuff, the diesel, and they’re probably more expensive to maintain. So amazing what you accomplish with a van like that though! Truly awesome. Congrats on your new van btw! Can’t wait to see how you kit it out!

      It is a killer setup, I wish I had the need for one like it. But I am a bit off from that. The one I snagged will be a perfect fit for me. I was eyeing the box setups too. But then there is no hiding your intentions when trying to park.
      I am cooking as we speak. . . in the Texas heat. Should have something to share in the near future!
      Thank you so much!

      Thanks! A box truck is a great choice if you can get away with the DOT, etc. We bought all diesel's which are a lot better mileage and with idling which you will inevitably be doing loading up a truck to not run down a liftgate battery, or cooling the cab down during a hot load out, etc. Try a Sprinter Box... They've been in stock at multiple dealerships locally recently. Might be the best of both worlds, and possibly less DOT issues.

    I hardly ever clean my lenses because I keep B+W MRC clear or UV filters over the front elements. And even then, I don't shoot outdoors nearly as much as you do, more inside homes for documentaries and corporate facilities, theaters and stages so the lenses aren't being exposed to the elements all of the time. When I do clean, ACs convinced me to only use Panchro and Kimwipes many years ago so that's all I use. No smudges, buildups or micro scratching coatings. I personally think lens cloths are taking more of a chance of microscratching than Kimwipes as the cloths do become dirty and contaminated, whereas each Kimwipe is brand new and you use it and throw it away.
    Wow, that's a really sweet G&L van. That would support some larger indie feature or TV shoots. He has a ton of the best G&L toys on that van, a gaffer and DPs dream.

    • @PDMokry
      @PDMokry  Před 11 měsíci

      But a Kimwipe box open to the elements on a cart is prone to getting crud all over them. AC's just leave them out in the open on a cart. If they were wrapped individually, it would be a great solution.
      The van is so awesome, he is a great contact to have in the rolladex!
      Thank you for watching and supporting the channel!

      @@PDMokry I take out a stack of them out of the Kimwipe box and keep them in a sealed Ziploc in my camera bag. Not an issue for me but I'ver seen what you're talking about on camera carts. The box is too large for my camera bag anyway, I keep on the side pocket.

    One of Duclos Lenses live stream has a guide on how they clean and is very similar. They go through the importance of single use wipes too. Such an important thing.

      I work outdoors so I clean lenses and camera bodies more often than most. I have a dedicated kit (ammo box sized) so that I can do everything up to swabbing sensors in the field if needed. It has got bulb blowers, a soft toothbrush, paint brushes, contact cleaner, swabs, an arctic butterfly, and of course single use Zeiss wipes!
