    That Dpnao multitool is super interesting and I'd love more videos on these budget multitools with innovative design features. I already got the Nextool Flagship Mini on your recommendation (which I now carry everywhere) and would love to hear more about the options in this space.

    The adjustable wrench is ingenious as it collapses into a narrow space. I found that Nextool has a similar design and ordered it.

    Civivi really knocked it out of the park with both the Voltaic and Cachet. I like frame locks with inset scales like that more than exposed frame locks. Less chance of putting pressure on the lock bar while you manipulate the knife. I have examples of both myself and may need to try and pick up a few more. Lol

    Great review! Thanks
    In defense of Nitecore EDC33, I want to say that this flashlight is a great compromise. Yes, it has built-in battery and is heating up a lot pretty fast, but there is no ideal flashlight on a market.
    EDC33 functionality is really versatile - it has really good potential as a light for everyday use and great potential for tactical application.
    I guess with EDC use everything is understandable, talking about tactical function - what do you need in self-defense flashlight?
    Good balance between lumens and candela, single button on the back to control every mode, simple User Interface and desirable to have a blocking system not to burn your pocket or a bag.
    So, this Nitecore model has everything mentioned above, output is actually even an overkill to blind someone, highest 2000 Lumens mode would be more than enough, but it is what it is. However the question for how long you need your highest output to blind someone - I’d say 1 second or less, so you don’t have to use brightest modes on constant. Essentially self-defense with flashlight means to to have a possibility to momentarily turn on and off a light in the eyes of a threat, and repeat it when the person’s sight is restored. When you blind someone you either hit the threat as hard as you can or try to retreat, or firstly hit and than retreat.
    So the heating up problem is not actually a problem, however there is one more cool feature I noticed - in addition to all functionality I mentioned above, what makes this flashlight really convenient in self-defense situation is that you can use your main modes at the same time with highest output. For example, let’s imagine the situation when there is nearly a pitch dark around, you use EDC33 on 70 Lumens mode to see the the road in front of you. If someone try to attack, you have instant access to 4000 or 1700 Lumens to absolutely blind the person, however when you release the button you instantly have your 70 Lumens back and can control where your threat is, you don’t need to switch between modes and stay in the dark not knowing exactly where the person who wanted to attack you is right now.
    Everything is fast and efficient. And again to blind a person whose eyes have already get used to dark environment, you need just a flash, I guess less than a second.
    Considering everything what I said, in my opinion Nitecore EDC33 is one the most interesting, inexpensive and versatile flashlight on the market right now, especially taking into account a size of it - it incredibly compact, like Olight Warrior 3 Mini but a lot more efficient.

    Not related to this video, but I had to say that my olight customer service saga actually ended in my receiving my order (w00t!) and I am blown away by the Baton 4 design, features, and quality. Also the Opry 2 Ti is very slick. It makes me want to give an olight folding knife a try even though I’m really happy with my Pro-tech Malibu.

    $250 is a little too much for me for a knife. Especially when I have gotten great knives for under $60. My favorite is my Petrified Fish Grow with red gmascus scales, a titanium pocket clip, super sharp. I have a couple of Civivi knives. Very nice. Elementum button lock is my favorite.

    "That flashlight is too bright" come on lol, you use whatever modes you need, sometimes you might need 100000 lumens for 0.01 second, sometimes you might need 1 lumen for months, there's no point in blaming manufacturer for giving you too many options.

    • @maxlvledc
      @maxlvledc  Před 8 měsíci +13

      I mean, I think I was fair..it posses a serious injury risk so I'd be crazy not to highlight that.

    • @hellhound2260
      @hellhound2260 Před 8 měsíci +4

      @@maxlvledc it does posses an injury risk like any other flashlight with the same output, I just don't think that lowering it's brightness levels would've made it any better, especially considering the competition from sofirn and such brands in the "regular" brightness flashlight market.

    • @pikemaster20
      @pikemaster20 Před 8 měsíci

      I don't think he said lowering the brightness would make it better just safer.

    • @hellhound2260
      @hellhound2260 Před 8 měsíci

      @@pikemaster20 Safer = better, no? It was his suggestion, there's place for regular EDC flashlights but there are people who need something more, and I personally would actually disagree that it gets much safer than this because this light has both heat detection and physical lockout switch. It'll just get hot much quicker than bigger lights, obviously.

    • @madsmix
      @madsmix Před 8 měsíci +1

      Certainly from a Tactical POV, the light is bordering on being the spec-buster.
      On the flip side, if one were to use it as an EDC light as it should be, the momentary 4000lumens is quite handy.
      As a technological trendsetter, it has a ton of merits.
      The fact that it’s has a genuine hybrid beam (flood and spot) is something I really appreciate.
      I wouldn’t dock points because it can get too hot.
      I can wager that most lights that output 3000+ lumens get to more than 150F.
      That said I’m not sure I need more than 2000/3000 lumens on a burst flood.
      The difference in the usability of 2000 vs 4000 is actually quite insignificant in real life

    Have you tried out the new electronic paper stuff lately? I've tried a few versions of it a long time ago, but it was eh. The writing was good, but the part where you upload it to the computer was bad because it wouldn't pick up all of the pen strokes. Wasn't sure if it's improved recently.
