In 2006 NCAA Super Regional series at Foley Field on June 10, 2006. 5 consecutive HR's ties the NCAA record. USC would hit 8 HR's total in the 15-6 win.
I don't think so, but it is possible. Just the switch from BESR to BBCOR hurts it, but at least they lowered the seams on the baseballs to reconcile some of that.
I remember when this gamecocks team came to cville and whipped virginia out of their own regional. that disher guy hit one I know 450 feet in that regional. crazy power on that team.
"Justin Smoak has caught fire ..." (1:38) -- with no one catching the irony. BTW, the ump was doing his best to help the poor pitchers with a couple terrible called strikes.
I remember listening to this on the radio and was just shocked. It is not easy being a Gamecock and baseball was the thing we always had up until the coaching change.
This is a record that is in the same category of insanity as say DiMaggio's record, or Henderson's base record. I bet this record will never be broken. Probably not even tied!!!
The entire SC team was getting some kind of workout! From the dugout to home plate back to the dugout back to home plate back to the dugout back to home plate ...
To all you baseball "geniuses" saying this was just because of the bats...if that were the case then why didn't back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back happen more often in the "era" of those bats? Seems if it were only the bats it would have been happening on a routine basis. And this also wasn't like someone smashing balls off some shitty team with shitty pitchers. This was in a goddamn Super Regional against the #7 national seed. Yes...everyone knows the bats being used had a major impact back then but to try and downplay this feat based solely on that is just asinine, short-sighted and in some cases biased jealousy.
John Persons This isn't just because of the bats, but the bats didn't hurt. Ever since the introduction of bbcor bats, it is a fact that home run totals have greatly decreased. No matter what bats are used, this is an insane feat.
and here we are, 2016, where Coastal Carolina has 96 homeruns this season, which would've been about double that back then. Still, regardless of the bat, this is raw af.
A pitcher's worse nightmare for sure!!!! When the Vancouver Canadians have a home run, they give a free A&W burger to the crowd... That would have been an expensive game for them lol
The look on that pitcher's face after the last one is priceless. haha. We were only about 10 feet from 6 in a row. Just wish we could have finished it out and headed to Omaha.
Oh gotta love those aluminum bats. I can't believe the juiced up aluminum bats were allowed as long as they were. I saved my lightly used pre-BBCOR Easton Stealth. I still play amateur ball with wood bats and once in a while I'll break out the Stealth at batting practice and it's absolutely ridiculous. I look at in my hands and can't believe the damn thing used to be legal.
USC also had that big run in the CWS in 2002. After losing the first game big to Ga Tech, 11-0, they absolutely destroyed teams and beat rival clemson twice on their way to face off against Texas in the finals. I'm not sure what USC's regular season was like, but I'm pretty sure they were a top 8 national seed.
BBCOR bats do not decay like the previous BESR, composite bats did as was used in the video. The previous composite bats used graphite material inside the bat, & a thinner aluminum wall compared to conventional all-aluminum bats such as BBCOR bats of today. This allowed for great trampoline effect which mostly accounted for balls being hit farther. BESR composite bats were known for cracking, especially when used in colder weather. Teams would alter the bats by either "rolling" or "shaving"...
With "rolling" a composite bat, high pressure is applied to the bat while rolling it back and forth. This weakens the inner graphite layer reducing stiffness and thus increasing the trampoline effect. "Shaving" is actually the shaving of aluminum material off the barrel of the bat, resulting in a thinner aluminum shell and again increased trampoline effect. With BESR composite bats, playing with them in temps below manufacturer's recommendations resulted in cracked/damaged bats...
I bet the 6th batter felt shitty he ended it lol
He went home and beat his wife. no joke:(
same
Space Peanut you’re a dumbass
Sam Williams LOL
NoNeedToBeUpset no need to be upset
I remember seeing this live. It was truly unbelievable.
This was all with 2 outs too! Insane!!
I don't think you will ever see this record broken in a college baseball game in our lifetime.
I don't think so, but it is possible. Just the switch from BESR to BBCOR hurts it, but at least they lowered the seams on the baseballs to reconcile some of that.
Not in a Super
Justin Smoak is in MLB now
WesleyAPEX he’s been in the MLB for a while lol
Love the videos man !
wesley my man
Jays fans would say “Barely”
Papa Bear do you know who your are talking to
Justin Smoak...killing the M's...give him a metal bat
coming from an A's fan, I really love Smoak! He's a gamer.
When College Baseball was fun to watch
The pitcher's reaction in the dugout was priceless
Poor kid.
when they hit the 4th one the first pitcher wasn't even watching. he already knew that familiar sound 😭😭
I remember when this gamecocks team came to cville and whipped virginia out of their own regional. that disher guy hit one I know 450 feet in that regional. crazy power on that team.
Wasn’t 450 ft, but cool story
"Justin Smoak has caught fire ..." (1:38) -- with no one catching the irony.
BTW, the ump was doing his best to help the poor pitchers with a couple terrible called strikes.
I love how even the last out was hit to the warning track.
I remember listening to this on the radio and was just shocked. It is not easy being a Gamecock and baseball was the thing we always had up until the coaching change.
damn i miss mike morgan. Thanks for being the best play-by-play guy in the business mike!
This is a record that is in the same category of insanity as say DiMaggio's record, or Henderson's base record. I bet this record will never be broken. Probably not even tied!!!
Of course not now, the teams hit 5 homeruns all season without metal bats
I agree. At least in our lifetime
Would've gladly traded this amazing run to win the Super - that team was loaded with talent.
Talk about 2 out rally!
“Or in the parking lot” is such a hilarious and great call
Just to think the first time I saw this video I had no idea who smoak was.
Would've hate to have been the person who broke the streak
Wouldve hated to be the pitcher.
He roped it too
This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
5:43 - 5:48
"They might have to start playing the Warning Track."
"Or in the Parkinglot!" lol
Jesus! And every ball was absolutely hammered too!
i love how that last one still made it to the warning track...
The entire SC team was getting some kind of workout! From the dugout to home plate back to the dugout back to home plate back to the dugout back to home plate ...
absolutely amazing. jaw dropping. the odds, the concentration. talk about chemestry
Chemistry*

Somewhat true but this would not have happened with wooden bats
John Persons This isn't just because of the bats, but the bats didn't hurt. Ever since the introduction of bbcor bats, it is a fact that home run totals have greatly decreased. No matter what bats are used, this is an insane feat.
Blake Vandamage Hamilton was also a seasoned MLB veteran with many more years of muscle building. These are college guys.
John Persons *Sounds like that you never had any kind of success playing baseball. What's the highest level you ever played on?*
John Persons only reason it happened was because of the bats
and here we are, 2016, where Coastal Carolina has 96 homeruns this season, which would've been about double that back then.
Still, regardless of the bat, this is raw af.
This is wicked awesome and I was always a gamecocks fan
THAT IS JUST INCREDIBLE
awesome man
7:08 "Fuck"
just amazing
Amazing to see how much cameras have improved since then
The thing that's funny is that they almost had 6 in a row!
Roger Oates yeah it’s insane. This will never happen again
True, almost six in a row
I bought one of those SC900 easton stealth at goodwill for 5 dollars lol hits like a dream
AMAZING!!
Absolutely unbelievable.
I miss that sound sweet sweet besr
They protecc
They attacc
But most importantly
*They go bacc to bacc to bacc to bacc to bacc*
To everyone saying it's because of the bats... this team was almost legendary, should have won the college world series that year
As a Georgia Tech fan, I love this.
A pitcher's worse nightmare for sure!!!! When the Vancouver Canadians have a home run, they give a free A&W burger to the crowd... That would have been an expensive game for them lol
dude it was awesome
Well, as they say... hitting is contagious.
outstanding
The radio call by Mike Morgan was fantastic
this is nuts....this just shows how good the future of baseball is going to be!!!
How do you like the future? 😎 u commented o this when I was 9 years old haha I’m 22 now cheers 🥂
Welcome to the future lmao
And this was years after they switched to minus 3 and 2 5/8 bats. I remember pitching against minus 5 and 2 3/4 bats.
wow that was amazing
Amazing
Man, those bats sounded way different than they do today
Wow, unbelievable...
lol as a mariners fan it is cool to see smoak playing in this video
Smoak crushed that shit. Hes my favorite player in MLB the show lol always draft him
DJ Khaled says, "another one"
Ping!!! Wow, South Carolina's bats was cooking some hot grease that day. The wind was probably blowing out of the ballpark real strong that day!!!
Big impressive
have fun hearing that anymore...
"They're gonna have to check the bats if this keeps up" lmfao
The relief pitcher at 7:05
unbelievable!!!!!
Man! Georgia is the team I look up to, but still the video was amazing!
7:09. That look says it all. This is as Bugs Bunny as baseball gets.
WOW! I CANT EVEN DO THAT SHIT IN A VIDEO GAME LOL
Very nice! its definitely easier for me to hit off faster pitchers than slower ones lol
The look on that pitcher's face after the last one is priceless. haha. We were only about 10 feet from 6 in a row. Just wish we could have finished it out and headed to Omaha.
Yes, the next hitter nearly hit the sixth in a row. It was caught on the warning track.
that was awesome. I thought it was supposed to be 6 but he caught it
Georgia's just like ,"We give up." Haha. I'm so pumped to go to this series in USC's stadium this year!
hitting's contagious
They were going to put the bat boy up next if the 6th guy got a homer.
Oh gotta love those aluminum bats. I can't believe the juiced up aluminum bats were allowed as long as they were. I saved my lightly used pre-BBCOR Easton Stealth. thats never been done anywhere in the world on any level including MLB!!!!!! HOLY CRAP THATS INCREADIBLE...WHY DIDNT I HEAR ABOUT THIS SOONER???!!!
that was insane
They are going to start inspecting aluminum bats?
Had the 6th batter gone down the line the main commentator would have exploded.
Good shit
The "ping" sound off of the bat...best sound ever. Damn you BBCOR
I mean, had I been the pitcher that got pulled, I’m happy to see those 2 homers haha. At least I know it wasn’t just me 🤷🏼♀️

Wow justin Smoak. Hes a beast
7:09 “fuck” 😂😂
justin smoke is a mariner, he is a proffesional, hes gonna hit home runs
oh BESR how i miss you!
To the seventh rank team.
The announcer expected the last batter to hit one over too lol.... Nice solid hits!
I'm from the future, wait till 2010 and 2011!
I was at this game and couldn't believe it.
7:11 the Georgia's coach couldn't help but smile :b
Smoak pimped that homer so well
exactly
Unreal
omgsh!!!! almost 6 homers

I liked the expression on UGA's bullpen pitcher after the 5th home run, lol. Can you read his lips???
LMAO!!
i love how they keep zooming in on the guy in the bullpin so we can witness his pain LOL
The stadium is called "Foley Field." That is what you call ironic.
That poor guy, the first pitcher! When bad things happen,it just gets worse.
Dammit, why can't baseball be this exciting whenever I watch it ... :(
