- Today we take a look at Grundfos Pumps Ltd, Grovebury Rd, Leighton Buzzard LU7 4TL.
We notice an unusual building for the area and can see an open fire exit with some pipes running inside from a van so we decide to take a closer look.
HSE Manager comes out to enquire but isn't so keen on helping our enquiries at first but we get there in the end.

mmm, I seriously doubt that the contractor working on the right hand side of the building was working at height compliant. Towards the centre of the roof you can see a section with a handrail around it which looks good, there is no way the lip around the right hand section of roof is the same height as that. The left hand section does look like a higher edge to it, but difficult to tell if it offered the correct protection.
Yeah, no edge protection on that side of the building, not safe, should have railings installed around it if workers are going to be accessing it.
12:32 and 13:17 is a tree lined public bike path that connects to the housing estate on opposite side of River Ouzel and also runs along the river.

Used a lot of the Grundfos pumps in the past. Very good tbf. More recently though swithed to the Wilo brand. Even better.
If auditing like this went corporate, DJ would be the best example of the perfect code of conduct for its auditors I swear lol

Pronounced Gund-Fos, they make pumps for central heating systems, the chances are if you have any kind of boiler at home, it will have a Gund-fos pump inside, which pumps the hot water and heating water around the system, to your radiators and taps.....

I've had a few Grundfos pumps over the years in various central heating systems. They are very highly regarded and reliable. I don't think Stuart really got it but fair play he was pleasant enough👍
Times have changed mate, they used to last 15 years plus. The stuff they make today isn't in the same league and a lot of plumbers / heating engineers are using other brands now.

Had a few Grundfoss submersible bore pumps. Everything is top quality stainless steel and will pump saline water, sandy water, gritty water and spring-quality water. 20+years later still pumping.

Grundfos - water pumps for domestic and industrial central heating systems. I’ve got a grundfos water pump on my central heating system and very reliable they are too

It is I own a business on a little ind Estate and we have one. After someone had a heart attack it's needed. And it's been used since. They are a god send when the shit goes down

You failed to notice the other flag outside their HQ. It's a Danish flag because Grunfos is a Danish company who's products I use on a very regular bases and are considered one of the best pump manufacturers in the world which is not an exaggeration

Only one of the roofs had a parapet, the other didn't and there was a worker on there with no fall protection. Also fire exit doors do not need to remain closed, fire doors do.
But should be 900mm high to be classed as fall protection ?

DJ, a simple way of holding your zoom camera still is; cut a piece of string just a bit longer than your height. Tie a loop in one end that will slide over the lens. Drop the length of string and stand on it. Pull up on the camera to steady your camera. Cheap and quick to use.

I photograph lots of streets , and I don’t expect anyone to come out . I recently photographed a house of a family member , and the surrounds for a sales brochure , no one came out .
( That’s not to say that I have not had nosey and even aggressive people approach me , that has happened , depends if they introduce themselves, and offer a good reason for their enquiry , on what response they get ( if any)

That lip does not look high enough to me. 950mm is the recommended height, with no gap bigger than 470mm Deffo not on the right hand side where the single worker is.
That looks like a breach of working at height regs to me. The flat roof upstand appears to be less than1100mm in height so the operatives should be clipped on to a secure line or anchor

They are in direct breach of Health and Safety working on that roof without a man-safe system in place, especially outside of the designated safe area which is inside the handrails.
