I remember in 1985 when King Jammy produced a new version of the rhythm, Steelie And Clevie redid it and in the dancehall fraternity it’s known as The Bandelero riddim , I said it to the dunces then it was an original Studio One and a lot of the don’t know it all who thinks they know it all said to me when I point out a lot of these new versions are either Studio One or Treasure Isle they swear blind that it’s new , I won over £60 in bet I bought the tune out (something I wouldn’t do , and haven’t done since ) bought the record for them to hear it fortunately I had the evidence, since then the internet has changed the scene and a bunch of new know it all are dictating to you about track we grew up with and raved to , this record was in my parents era so i never heard it on sound system I was a little boy then it’s now about what tunes that are sold by unscrupulous dealers for over inflated prices now it’s the worth of your reputation if you are playing out is the value of the record played and bought for those stupid prices, ask them what sound I’m talking original pre 80s sounds you heard a tune either from Ska to Rockers non of them can’t tell you , like the saying goes it’s what’s in the groove that counts all this foolishness about original and reissue is complete and utter garbage and only to feed over inflated ego’s a lot of these records was to be found in shops up until 1989-90 for wait for it 50pence-£1 most people didn’t like or knew about these tunes are the same ones who in 2024 and after 1992 in England boasting it’s the truth remember Both American & Jamaican artist & producers said their countries were the input and England was the output Bjorn & Benny from Abba said the same thing black Jamaican & American music had to cross over into the mainstream and ( American music) less so was not promoted on Radio 1 over here, in fact they called Jamaica music trouble music it was sound systems who had and promoted the music for us to buy otherwise we would have never heard it , and if we didn’t and sound systems promoted it in England the only country outside the Caribbean that was playing it in the 60s/70s the course of Jamaican music would be very different, I could go into what happened in Jamaica 1965/66 to change into what is now known as rock steady where in Jamaica at the time a lot of sounds was ditching ska and playing soul that’s another story, guys it’s about the music and legacy of the artist musicians producers etc remember Jamaica sadly didn’t or doesn’t wholesale revere the music as the rest of the world, doesn’t mean there ain’t many promoters or historians who know the history I’m talking Jamaicans but they like Bob Clarke Bunny Goodison Mandingo Carl Gayle Jackie Estick Lou Godden etc they were there and in England too it’s not about what’s it’s being sold for it’s about the music, and the preservation of that music heritage like Bethoven Mozart etc ( which was the popular music of its time) for future generations to full joy the way it’s going now has exactly nothing to do with how the music was played full joyed and loved that’s why everyone got phone pen and pad just to get to know the name and buy it for whatever price and pretend they knew iit for a long time fronting I’m afraid we 50-60 years out sound systems played these tunes in Jamaica and England in clubs blues lawns open air dances parties etc back then , and the foolish notion I’m hearing from collectors that they teach old sound men about tune when they themselves are buying tunes and collections from the very said sound man for pennies and find many songs in those collections they never knew and now talking shit about dem teach sound men how the hell that work out ???
Glad everyone love this and other tunes let’s not get carried away by hype we are late these tunes was doing the business at the time of release, we know have to promote with love not hype and keep the memories of the artists song culture alive I’m got the original press if I didn’t I would get the reissue because…….. I bought it for the song not the damn label 😂😂😂 if they don’t tamper with the tune I mean remix rubbish and it’s the original recording what’s the problem…… ego there is a saying in Jamaica “ Never See Come See” that sums it up for everyone who love Jamaican music or black American music love it and it would love you back promote it with love void of ego or personal self interest or promotion it will promote you and that goes for everyone worldwide love and guidance keep it up and above all full joy (I don’t do End Joy) and keep smiling and remember these tunes uplifted gave solace many thousands in those years and beyond and we should never lose sight of that. Salute to all real music lovers and not about collectors & dealers it’s about the music and big up to them as well but remember all this is retrospective and we are custodians of it promote it and it promotes you , we never played a note or write one word lyrically of these songs and no one is bigger than it , it’s bigger than us all remember that one and all I had to say what I said in view of the comments to give them clarification big up those in the comments, especially the person who said to go buy a Banksy salute well said .

Ps The late great Noel Browne Cleavie’s Brother confirmed it and also The Butterflies riddim that was utilised by Jammy for hit by Admiral Bailey Shabba among others Butterflies by The Carribeans b side to The Russians Are Coming won bets on that one in 85 as well 😂😂I’m not a collector I played on sounds my dad was buying the bulk of tunes 1960-75 but I started buying my own from 1970 and that doesn’t matter what matters is the legacy of the artist musicians etc who were payed pittance and a copy of a song they played, makes more money for a dealer more than what those people saw and ever saw sad but true and we should never lose sight of that .

There probably is. Rocksteady tracks were often used as the basis for dub reggae tracks.
