The Doors were founded by Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison in Los Angeles in 1965. They released their eponymous debut album, which contained their hit single Light My Fire, in 1967 and went on to be one of the most controversial and influential rock acts of the sixties. Jim Morrison's early death in Paris in 1971 only served to fuel their legend and both he and the band have continued to enjoy iconic status for more than thirty years.
This incredible performance of Back Door Man is from the Eagle Vision DVD "Live in Europe", which is available now. - Hudba
I will always argue that Robbie Kreiger is one of the most underrated guitarists. EVER.
He definitely has a unique sound and as an artist in general he's very underestimated especially since he wrote light my fire and love her madly etc
hell yeah!
Probably one of the first rock guitarists to use flamenco influences... without sounding forced or dull as shit.
How fucking awesome is that?
As well as Song Writer (not this W. Dixon Song)
He never uses a pick
You don't make music for immortality,
You make music to capture the moment or sheer joy of being alive on planet earth.
-Ray Manzarek.
jim motrrison and his 880 cubic inch 2 stroke inline 6 cylinder fascenates me even today and is the 858 arcticat
Yet the music is still timeless.
Morrison didn't try to dance. He just had a knack for moving, jumping, hopping, falling and screaming with the music. No other front man comes close. Even his own band members were said they would watch Morrison, because they never knew what he would do next.
He was very special indeed. He had that X Factor in him. Can you imagine how much people could have been jealous of Jim?! But, poor man needed help, and nobody was there to help. :((
@@Dzanarika1 he was born to die young.
well, Freddy was the equivalent, so..
Once a girl was like can you dance I was like no but inknow the shaman dance and she was like what's that I was like you'll know when you see it
@@daviT_con_T freddy is not Jim's equal
I’m 38 now and Morrison is still the most enigmatic person I’ve ever read about.
He was a hot man
for sure
While other bands put on outfits, or makeup, or fireworks in order to convey that they were dangerous, when the doors played, you were seeing the real deal. They played from the depths. Each member had special skills, and they were completely fluid in setting the mood for, and with Jim. Their excellence lives on. Long live the doors.
If that aint the truth. Apparently the band was more intense in real life
100% nothing more than their raw energy n let the music guide them n the audience wherever it may take them with Jim as the captain, Ray, Robbie n John the Co- pilots, still the best of all time in my opinion
Also..no resolving members..A true band.
THE DOORS are NOT “America’s Rolling Stones!,” Whomever stated that is a fool 😵💫
@@cherielynne5275 may they be rememered for there drug use..many trips to god knows where
What I wouldn't trade to see a live Doors concert... What a trip
I did see them(and met Jim) and what you see here is just a taste...
If you live in southern California there is a tribute band called strange days that cover the doors.. they put on a heck of show..
Until a few years ago, we only read about these live performances but never actually saw them. I’m 36, so definitely was not around. With these CZcams channels and uploads of live footage, we can finally see it happen. It’s all true! They put on quite a show!
Yess 🥹🥹
And you can feel it, every word, every instrument. Magnificent! 🔥
This entire band is just phenomenal. Jim Morrison just happened to be a giant of iconic front men.
if you like this you might like my brother’s music. his name is Stu Morris and 'Daisy' is a good song by him......
Yes, but he also wrote most of the band's lyrics. That makes him much more than a "front man."
This is beyond music; this is a soulful, carnal sermon. These guys made magic.
Carnal sermon... awesome brother
My favorite rock band since way back. And Great words you use. Roy b, Cape Town, south africa 🇿🇦
Ese gran poeta con voz magnetica
Well said. Yet visceral and primal too
Manzarek, Densmore and Krieger were consistently amazing musicians. They helped create the unique sound of the Doors
Barry Smith they just followed Jim's improvement on stage.
@@bluewendigo672 More like they led Jim into his improvement.
FROGO Creature I think you meant to say they followed Jim’s improvisation on stage.
I mean they did create it. Jim didn’t write the music, they did.
Manzarek is the sound of the entire album if you ask me
the doors was the band that I was most involved with, Jim was very intelligent, knew the ancient Greek philosophy and poetry too, was a philosopher poet, knowledgeable of Nietzschean philosophy, which is not at all easy to understand, in my opinion, the doors was the best band that ever existed.
Wesley Felipe His poems weren't that great tho
Neitzche isn't all that but Jim was woke to say the least. Wrote alot of profound relatable stuff for sure.
@@troysorensen1089 yeah I love Jim's writing
The killer awoke before Dawn he put his boots on🤘🎤
So you found a way to incorporate yourself to the doors legacy huh ?? Pathetic.
a young and wild Jim Morrison, at his prime. love you Jim
THAT is how you mesmerize an audience. That place was silent during this performance.
Raw Doors at there best. only a true fan could appreciate this.
nah, many can appreciate this. I am a true fan though
Favorite band
Only deaf people couldnt appreciate this!
That is true only a real fun fill The Doors and The KING Jim Morrison. We love you JIM every year in Paris love from GREECE!!!!
Gone too soon, that's for sure, my favorite band, and I was born in 74...did not even know about the doors till the movie and I had to look hard to find a pic of the real Jim, no internet then, think I had to hunt down a local record store! And now I'm loving them in CZcams.
I love the way Jim screams in this video.
@James Douglas Morrison fuck the fakes
ME TOO!
@@Jennifer-hd4cs As do i . Its like hes possesed in this song . But ive never worked out what he says in the latter part of the into . Sounds like ' get up there ' 'thats five alive ' .
Oh my gosh makes me wanna do the same, which I do in private
Unlike any band, absolutely amazing
Mystic Rain it's cool my band is shit too. At least your having fun
amen
The Doors, one of the best bands ever of all times ...
Morrison, the only performer who could sing a blues tune, and then also crank up a bubble gum tune..like 'I looked at you '..
Their are no words to describe the feeling I get from this band. Just a fireball of energy . No words
😂😂hahah yep..me 2
His unpredictability. You never knew what you were gonna get. But always left satisfied
Undescribable talent.....so blessed to grow up hearing such talent......Jim Morrison could be my back door man anytime!!❤
man jim was fucking always high to the next level! he lived his life to the extreme
He sure did, he pushed the limit
glenn danzig iiu
Back when the cocaine was pure and the weed was bunk
yes he did he made his mark on our minds shame hes gone from drugs he could of shown this world today some shit!
He lived im his own mind but was popular. Every junkie is the same and he wasnt special
I love those little dialogues he puts into his songs, its like he's talking to himself and at the same time paints a picture in my head. Like I can imagine some guy who is the "boss" who is talking to me.
the boss is the hangman or God, take your pick. Morrison had the construct nailed down. succinct blueprint of the condition. underrated lyricist.
+kelvinkloud very underrated.
Mystical,Magical, Morrison.
That's four people in total sync, a band that despite the chaos of the sound are reacting to eachother. really cool
My favorite live performance of this song
you look beautiful what is your favorite song
Erik Deluna Need a backdoor? 😂
absolutely possessed in this one
u read my mind.
I was gonna say the same, well something like that indeed
Fucking hell, i don't even have words do describe this. Jim was one of a kind.
warguy403 was due to the 60s times.just feelings and real music
probably the best live version of back door man....jim said this was one of the best crowds ever
This is a fantastic performance, and I firmly believe that this band, not Jim but this band, maybe the most overlooked in history... Everyone remembers Jim, but Ray, Robbie and John were so goddamn good
best ever live version of Backdoor Man right here ....the middle segment is mesmerizing in intensity, hypnotic, Jim mimicking the various black artists he would see on his travels of all the cheap joints in L.A that is where this came from , after he absorbed the blues he saw and heard, playing to the uk audience for the first time he gave them everything , full effort all his showmanship and tricks
I was listening to Crawling King Snake and I began singing Backdoor Man to myself. I can't believe this version actually exists with both, it's perfect.
best ever is in Danbury high school 1967
Interesting

@@jimb0437 But no video ? Am I correct ? Roy b, Cape Town, South africa 🇿🇦
By far one of the best live performances done by The Doors. I listen to this daily just for the sole fact that you can feel and hear the soul put into this song. There will never be another Morison, there will never be a band like The Doors.

Big facts love this song
One of the better live versions with awesome video footage.
yep
This whole thing sounds so dirty and raw, down to the sound quality...and I love it
Hell yeah! The Doors will always be my favorite. Jim was a poet!
Kim Loves Modest Mouse
Hello kim
Hell yeah , only select few understand. Mr. Mojo Rising is lizard king forever .
My thoughts exactly kim
Yes he was one o the greatest poets
What a visceral performance.
Not really, it fits the lyrics.
Moonlight Moe I mean, he's right though.
Jeff Tate II I mean it's about a means of consciousness man!! Jims sayin what he's fellin!
Moonlight Moe feelin
My favorite live performance of this song and the best band EVER!!!!!! Jim Morrison The King Of Rock n'roll
This is such a badass performance! One of my favorites.
There's no denying it Jim morrison is one of the best in those days.!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could of grew up in those days so i can go to the concerts he gave Wow what a person.
I KNOW ME TOO
NEVER try to sing this unless you are this drunk, or in front of your dear grandmother.
Just a great band. Jim had an IQ of 149 and it shows. I like how he mixed in Crawling King Snake with Back Door Man.
We need more of this, videos like this were the audio matches the footage and pure Doors sound to fuel the universal mind
Dude, why don't you put the time and effort in downloading, and editing the sound to match the video, you're even able to turn up or lower the volume and bass, you just gotta do it.
My god, I think If I were Robby, Ray, or John I would have be a nervous wreck when Jim starts freestyling. Like, it's so awesome to hear how he fills the spaces, but how long do you let him do it for? Thats the beauty of the band I guess- they all know each other so well they can just be like "Alright, lets punch back into the song now". Amazing stuff
That sound!!! Nothing like it, just an absolute force!
Jim Morrison - Extraordinary talent and depth. Much more than just a band front man.
"Hey boss there ain't much time, is there?....no" That was scary
That was his spirit guide letting him know it's almost time. You can see Jim's in a shamanic trance.
It's interesting the way Jim answers with a not all too enthusiastic "all right". Sort of just resigned to his fate.
@@harryh.2464 I believe that . He was so real , under no illusions . when we in our 20's we dont think about getting old and dying . He did and went for it . I believe he lived everyday like it was his last .
@@Lord_Hillcrest People in their 20s don't think and contemplate about old age and death? I do and I'm 14...
@@ThePowerpointMaster Thats not healthy my friend.
@@Lord_Hillcrest I know you intend well but don't you judge this young persons thoughts. Are you God? Consciousness of life and death is what motivates me to live everyday and will hopefully do that for him too. We will all die. No one get's out of here alive. My son thought these things when only 10 as did I before him. as he became aware of time and losing loved ones. We talked about it. At 20 he is a beautiful caring young man. Most live in the dream nightmare of nothing. Let him awake from slumber and the living death that is the tragic norm. It is fear that crushes the soul.
Morrison is on fire here. Apparently the cream of the London rock scene were in to see them. .
Jim at his most visceral, rawest, and grittiest.
I saw Robbie Krieger last Sept 2018. He played two hours of DOORS classics. It was great, his sound was still fantastic!!! He told some great stories about Jim and Ray and the Band....
What a voice!! This version of Backdoor man is as amazing as Janis Joplin singing ball and chain at Monterey Pop festival, just epic!
Good call
Really? Just as amazing as that? No less, no more? Sometimes, it just cracks me up, all the simpleminded analysis going on in comments sections. :'D
If you knew music history you would know that when Janice sang Ball and Chain at Monterey Pop it was considered revolutionary. You're actually the simpleton here. @@CooManTunes
@@mcnowski I know all about Janis Joplin at Monterey, youcompleteFOOL.
The Doors. The best band, of my youth.
Unique, mesmerizing, he had women and men at his feet. What a special gifted intelligent person he was. It’s just so sad those demons could not be dragged out of him. WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!!!
John Densmore says Artistic Creativity & Self Destruction don't have to go hand in hand ...
His father was a Navy Commander smack in the middle of the Gulf Of Tonkin incident that started the Vietnam war. Imagine having that burden in that time.
"Im the Crawling King Snake and I rule my den"
That roar at the beginning gets me every time
THE DOORS WILL LIVE FOREVER! Thank you for posting this incredible reminder!
jim was a very charismatic frontman! R.IP Jim and Ray !
Thank you jim morrison for your "truly groundbreaking"music

Woooow oh my gooood....
Absolutely Fabulous! Robbie just glide's across the strings with no pick!
I miss jim although i did not meet him during his lifetime.. This shows how powerful he is in the realm of music
The magic of Jim morrison is shown in this live performance, when they were at their peak, and his charisma, also Robbie Krieger n
Been looking for this version for so long! Thank you!
'The doors live in Europe 1968 ' is the DVD you want then .
the original lizard king! jimbo...in top form
He was amazing in this era, but for me his best form was in the time of Morrison Hotel and definitly their best and most brilliant work LA Woman...Top three albums ever made for me right there with White Album and Exile On Main Street
*The ONLY Lizard King
When Jim cared the Doors were one of the greatest live bands.
WOW thee best ever no band was even close.
What a marvelous masterpiece. Truly a one of a kind performance
The emotional load plus artistic genius beyond the reach of today's pop stars.
I saw the Doors open with song in early '67 in LA. Mindblowing.
OMFG. First time seeing this. Mono sound but no words for the quality and sound, bearing in mind no knobs, no tweaking, no tech and Jim and all the rock and roll lifestyle...blown away. RIP CJP 1946-2020. ❤️❤️
i love when he is yelling i the beginning
@YouMake MeReal Ever worked out what he is saying during the scream ?
@YouMake MeReal And what did he say....
Ray's back had to have hurt hunched over like that all the time.
Actually, it hurt him to sit up straight. Hunching was the only way he could feel comfortable.

Nobody remotely like Jim Morrison. Very good very unique
you haven't met Fayette Wolfie yet!!!!!!!!,🌟🌟🌟
Check out Jeff Martin of the Tea Party from windsor canada. He looks and sounds like Morrison. Also his lyrics are like Jims. He was born around the time when Jim was still touring. Btw! He's adopted. Also I turned Ray Manzarek onto him in the early 2000s. He was invited to try out for them when they were going to do The Doors ofthe 21th Century. But he was a multi talented Guitarist. And he didnt want to posture like Jim.

it's rare that a blues song makes me feel like breaking shit \m/ helllll yea
Jim is and will be the best

How really was behavior.on those places
Totally 💯 I will add how underrated the doors are..
When the Doors did Blues Covers it stood out. It wasn’t cheesy and soulless like many other white bands covering blues. The Doors were students of not only Delta Blues but of the marrow of that music the mysticism the spirit of it the real roots of it. They found the light and dark, the back pew the carnal release of it. They became a vessel that channeled those old blues ghosts. It was otherworldly and Jim And Ray knew it was bigger than them .
Exactly ton ton ton
I remember the first time I heard this song as a kid. My friend's dad played it for us in the car while cruising around Coconut Grove, Miami. R.I.Peace Bill I'm blasting this one loud for you tonight!!!
revolutionary. simply revolutionary
Thank-you for sharing and uploading for all of us Doors fans to enjoy.
The first time I heard the album, LA Women, many years ago, I was mesmerized and listened to the album ( cassette tape )over and over on my Sony Walkman.
Happy 78th Birthday Jim. What could have been.
Oh man this is awesome! Love this song and this is possibly the best live version I've seen them play
Jim's screams were insane!
I had to watch the entire video before looking at comments. I couldn't take my eyes off of this intense mesmerizing jam of "Back Door Man".
I haven't seen this clips since the 80s 🤟
I love Robby Krieger's SG. Its beautiful. And holy shit Jim Morrison was high
He was always high. I can't think of a moment where Jim wasn't high or/and drunk except maybe pre-Doors.

Si guapa !! Un ser humano magnifico , poeta e interprete unico .. con voz y rostro propio , sin poses.....
The Doors performance at The Roundhouse IMHO is one of the great live performances of any group captured on film. All the elements were there---a hip, intimate venue and an audience very receptive to Morrison's theatricality. (Jim Morrison was actually quoted as saying he thought the Roundhouse gigs were one of the band's best.) MAN, they were locked-in---blues and acid fused together brilliantly like only they could do it!!
Gr8
This brings me back, and I was born in 88’ Simply Astonishing
This is great
Jim Morrison was as unique a talent there was
one of a kind. to go back to one time.
Some vital music right here. That particular concert has a vibe to it that is undeniable. Of course musically they are on point... but with Jim in the zone too which wasnt always the case as time went on. Epic.
LOVE, PEACE, LIGHT! The spirit of The Doors (not just Jim) is still alive, kicking and appreciated today in 2021. SERVUS!!!
AGAIN THERE IS NO WORDS....
💞😍😘💋
Jim's screech game was on par in this one lol. God bless all ♥️✌️
