2024 who's listening 👂🏿👂🏿🎧
Meeeeeee in Cape Town❤
I can't help it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I'm here for the 2024
I'm still learning and loving.I'm a white guy headed white girlfriend and we loved this music so much
Me
I am 🎉❤
I'm sitting here sipping on Bourbon looking at the window 75° feeling the breeze I can see my son's face my only son I lost the heroin I failed as a father I'm not looking for no pity party I'm just looking at his face in the clouds but I can't hear his voice this song in this man is a blessing to my life my son was like a brother more than a son and being a lone wolf no hand to hold on to just the bulldog Maybelline and Al Green my man
You didn't fail. Were Heroin legal and over the counter as it was in the 1800s your son might very well be alive, as would at least two people I knew; no one questions why the government suddenly decided the regulation of people's moods, and other mental states was fair domain for tyranny and causing more problems than the drugs themselves typically, nor does anyone question why despair is so prevalent; it all goes way past the dinner-table. And in the 1920s that same darling government also decided you couldn't have your Bourbon either.
@@jasonlynn1017 thank you Jason you stay safe man he was 29 years old I wasn't no angel at 29 years old I grew up right all kinds of drugs I'm 52 years old now and all my family that party back in the seventies and '80s are dead before they hit 60 it's a trip man but thank you brother you stay safe and stay strong
@@damonpitt2528 I'm 59 and can't tell you how I made it this far, but I can tell you I almost didn't because of theme of another song by Al I just saw on the Midnight Special, 1974: " I'm Tired Of Being Alone," which I'm now writing a poem about as it's the greatest truth ever told. Remember that many people use drugs not for pleasure, but to kill the pain and despair of being tired of being alone; and they use drugs including H to exit this world because of this epidemic of loneliness & sadness, versus aloofness, & even viciousness, so they choose to leave as nothing is on the horizon. This whole world has to get well, which is another thing than just not being sick. But the world is sick. Really sick. Al Green's song is truer today in 2022 than in 1974, and everyone needs to do something about it. I'm sorry about your son. Your grief must be beyond comprehension. But you feel it. Therefore you did not cave into the plastic- numb advertised life which so many people now have, which of course worsens everything. So you are a hero of emotionality. It takes guts to feel. It takes guts not to hide feeling. DON'T ever believe anyone saying that it's easy or trivial, as it is one of the last things proving humanity left.
I turned sixty on November 16th, My youngest son of two turned 26 on the 14th. I used to talk to him everyday three four times a day, He made me upset on thanksgiving day. I have not talked to him since. Maybe I'll call him after reading this. God bless you and praying for you. I would lose my mind if I lost my baby. It 's been a week yesterday since I talked to him.
I'm so sorry to have read this I share your Pain" I pray you continue to find the strength to keep you going .🙏.so 😔 this has happen.
Lost my mom at 12 I'm 55 now. She would play AL while cleaning the house. I love this song.

My uncle Jack sang the shit out of this song 30 years ago. He had a brain aneurysm surgery that left him with the mentality of a two year old, but he could still sing Al Green songs. RIP Jake. That's what I called him.

Thank you for sharing Misty. In the midst of tragedy there was still some beauty and this proves that the arts, especially music can transcend human suffering and powerfully ignite the soul, the mind and uplift the spirit. Al Green took this Bee Gees song to ANOTHER LEVEL. sheesh
Barry gibb says best cover of any of his songs
Oh so true...
I was told " you can't mend a broken heart, you learn to live with it " so true, love you my son💕
Barry Gibb said that this is his favorite cover.
I can see why!
I saw that interview. He said Al sang it the way it was meant to be sang.
I lost my dad, uncle, granny, best-friend of 5 years, and more. This song has helped me through difficult times and I still love it today.
Lyrics
I can think of younger days when living for my life
Was everything a man could want to do
I could never see tomorrow
I was never told about the sorrow
And how can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
Tell me, how can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go 'round?
How can you mend a this broken man? Yeah
How can a loser ever win?
Somebody please help me mend my broken heart
And let me live again, la-la, la-la, la
I can still feel the breeze that rustles through the trees
And misty memories of days gone by
But we could never see tomorrow
Would you believe that no one, no one ever told us about the sorrow?
So how can you mend a broken heart? And mine is
How can you stop the rain from falling down? Baby
How can you stop that old sun from shining?
What makes the world go 'round? And sometime I have to say, yeah, say
La-la-la, la-la-la, uh-huh, yeah
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la, tell me
Help me mend my, my broken heart
I just wanna, I just wanna, I just wanna, I just wanna
I just wanna live again, baby
How can you mend this broken man? Yeah, somebody tell me
How can a loser ever win? 'Cause, baby
Help me mend my, this old broken heart
I think I, I believe I
I feel like I got to, I feel like I wanna live again
How can you mend, ah, this broken heart? Somebody please tell me
How can you stop the rain from falling down? I know my clothes are all wet, tell me
How can you mend my, please help me mend my broken heart
I think I, I believe I, I've got a feeling that I want to live and live and live
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la
La
Thanks❤

It doesn't matter how many times you listen to Al Green, he seems to set off the shivers
This song is a tear jerker for Me! 😢😢😢😢It reminds me of My Only Sister we lost 2 Years ago in July! 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
It also reminds me of friends and family that have passed, especially during Covid!
She was the love of my life and she cheated on me and left me broken and alone. 10 years later I still dream about her and wake up in tears. I'm not sure this broken heart will ever mend. I love you all.
It's going to take time my friend 👍🙏 I'm in the same boat but I left my wife
I'm 74 now, but in 1969 I had a broken heart which still to this day I ask what ifs.. Have survived, but it still hurts. I sometimes ask how can you mend a broken heart? Only time helps.
Yea a girl left me cause I didn’t want to marry cause I was avoiding potential divorce I love her but I gotta keep my stomach fed and after a man goes through divorce theirs scraps in your stomach
10 years later? Man up

People felt things more strongly, or articulated those feelings better back then. Green is almost 80 and this song still resonates as much as the day he recorded it.
YES. Im 76 and I love the brothers
Just love this song and anything he sings. Love oldies but goodies. The best all around.
FACTS❤
I remember the nights my dad cried for my mother to come home, cried about my brother passing. I miss him, I didn't mature fast enough to tell him the world he taught me, the heart he gave me or how much I loved him and thank him cus I had a father, a daddy the 1 real man I ever had in my life. Or That I understood our life and i thank GOD i had him. That time has passed. I come here to see his face or see his laugh and sometimes to remember a story.
Exactly how I feel about my dad
I sound these words in the tune of the song and it was great
You just made me cry
So well said and put.Thank You for paying Homage to a real Father/Man.

“The Book Of Eli” brought me here

I feel the same way my dad I lost at 14 and this all he’d play 😢 life hasn’t been the same
I miss my dad. He only listened to Motown, blues and duwop... except Bod Dyan- he loved real folk (music and people). Anyone who had a great dad and lost him suffered great loss.
My dad has been gone for 25 years and I still miss him so much. ❤

In 2020, unexpectedly my fiancée ended our 5 year relationship totally out of the blue. I was absolutely devastated.
I honestly thought that things would never ever get better for me.
I happened to find this song & it absolutely made me break down 😢 like I listened to it over & over & just cried. It’s just amazing.
Now, 3 years later, I have moved on in a good way, but when I hear it now, it reminds me of that time back in 2020.
To anyone who is experiencing a traumatic event, never ever forget that thing’s will & do get better, even if you can’t see that at the moment.

Some people put a face on Soul Music and call it oldies...what those people don't realize is that black people don't have to be going through anything...soul music automatically touch our soul
And "soul" music doesn't touch 'white' people' soul too, you think?
Song was written by the Bee Gees. Yes white people can have soul too.
The bee gees did it first but All Green puts life and soul into this version
absolutely
Who are the background singers?
Barry Gibb wrote this song for Al green
@@SexxiToesnot sure about that. They released it on their own prior to this version and it went #1.
@@DouglasLippi…you are correct. Being a song historian, I know that Al sang this to bring his world together as it was falling, and this was a turning point for him in his life. However, The Bee Gees had broken up and Barry was so distraught about it, he wrote this song except for the bridge, called Robin and Maurice, and Robin came over, helped him finish the song but the couldn’t get the words at the end, and when they played it for Maurice, he said he would be right over, and together, they finished the song, and a major bro hug, tears, and a promise to listen to each other more. This was a major Number One Hit for them, as people like myself were so happy they were back together again. The song was offered to Andy William, by the way, who turned it down, as the Brothers made it so popular, that he didn’t want the song. However, a good 50 plus different renditions were made in the first 25 years after the song as they also wrote at the same time, “Lonely Days”, and they had hits back to back, reaffirming their genius for songwriting, when this was released. Everyone famous wanted the song, as it is so heart rendering. However, it was originally meant for the brothers, but became popular for other reasons. Rev Al places a fabulous spin on it. I just love it. But it was not written for him. Good call. A great song indeed.😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻♥️✌🏼♥️🙏🏼♥️✌🏼♥️⭐️♥️
The Bee Gees were genius songwriters. ❤💕

There's no way to Mend a broken heart, after it's been Badly damaged.
This is Barry Gibbs favorite cover of one of his songs. I can only imagine Barry's response when Al Green and his people asked the Bee gees for permission to record this song. Al Green is one of the greatest singers of his generation. If I could have been a fly on the wall during that conversation.😊
Why can't I listen to this melody without tears dripping down?
How can someone save you then turn around and plunge the knife in your heart deeper than anyone ever did?
You couldn't have said it any better.
Thats exactly how I'm feeling right now
From Al Green 's majestic voice to the late Al Jackson's timeless timekeeping on drums this is one of the greatest soul slow jams in music history. They DON'T make music like this anymore.
Was that a white bro or female!
FUN FACT: I just saw a video about the Radiohead song "Nude" which discussed how the band sat on that song for a decade as they were trying to capture a vibe similar to this Al Green classic and didn't want to release it unfinished.
The final song sounds very different to Green's but the influence can be heard and it's a wonderfully haunting song in it's own right. If you're looking for more modern music with a similar soulful edge then I'd suggest giving it a spin.
No, they sure don't.
Also here to say give Radiohead a chance; Nude is an emotional diamond, and the rest of In Rainbows would blow your minds!
You are absolutely right
this brings tears to my eyes happy 2024 real soulmusic i was raised up on
Always tears in my eyes when I hear this song. I played this song over & over when I first experienced heartbreak. My heart healed & I love this song to this day.

Best soul song ever
Love can be a good thing and such a blessing. But love can also be one of the most painful things people will ever have to endure.
❤uauuuuu beautiful girl
It's the conundrum of the human condition...ying and yang.
Masterpiece cover version of this wonderful haunting old song. Al has a way of pulling the pain out of a song that originally artists do not.
Can't help but say yes sir and yes sir to that one
Al has the soul, but imagine the talent that created this song! Al was given perfectly written thoughts to mold his version, but I still think the BeeGees nailed it. If you knew the circumstances that the song was written under, you might agree. And three part harmony by brothers is an instrument that nobody else has.
isso basta al e bee gees
if you say so.
Soulful music never dies this song reminds me of love of my life ❤❤❤❤
Essa canção é tudo ao mesmo tempo, linda, triste, romântica é demais
That Green touch. My Good Lord what a talent. And such a brilliant, simple arrangement. Where did music like this go?
I've been wondering the same thing.
It died to top 40 profitability some time in the late 70s.
It's a go to song any time ,!!! ❤❤❤
there’s plenty of amazing music now a days you just need to look
It never went anywhere. We are still listening .
Would love to see an Al Green biopic released by a major studio.

My Nina is dying, she was the queen of music in my eyes. She knew every old school song and artist. She had this huge black case we called it the vault and it was filled with a bunch of different tapes cassettes cds and in mint condition. We called it the vault

Ur young but u know music 👍
One of Al's greatest hits.
This song gets me through some very tough times. I’m glad my mother was brought up in this era and passed it along to me and I passed it along to my children… #algreen#classic
😂
Maaan, that's a good song. I was born in 89 and glad I grew up listening to stuff like Al Green!
The backgound vocals and drums don't get nearly enough credit for this brilliant song. Which should tell you how great Al was belting this out. It's Green's riffing that sets it apart from the BeeGees version. "I know my clothes are all wet, tell me,..How can you mend my, please help me mend my broken heart,..I think I, I believe I, I've got a feeling that I want to live and live and live,.."
5/25/2024 Saturday, a week after my 69th Birthday listening to my Man Cool AL Green. Just chilling
Happy Birthday
Não sei o que essa música diz, mas, minha alma, sabe!!
My grandmother’s favorite artist. I used to listen to this and be so sad and depressed because she transitioned in December 2020. I still cry listening to this but I know she’s not suffering. ❤
@janicejohnson2889Thank you. ❤
Remembering the best mom. She listened to this and now I gotta hear this to remember her ❤️❤️❤️❤️
