For anyone confused Jack started off in the future then went to the London blitz, traveled with the doctor and went to the 21st century then went back to the 1800s and lived through all of it to the 21st century again and this flashback he was still immortal
not forgetting went with the doctor to thr year 200,100 then to the 1800s, lived there till the 2000s found the doctor again, then got transported to the year 102 AD I think buried for 1800 years underneath Cardiff found by torchwood Cardiff in 1902 put in stasis, awoken worked at torchwood 3 until 2009 , left earth until 2011 came back for miracle day, then a huge gap between miracle day until fugitive of the judoon/revolution of the daleks
Captain Jack encounters fairies quite a lot, it's a major character feature
Always loved this episode. Really nails the terrifying aspect of traditional folklore fairies.
Torchwood: the best spin off Doctor Who ever had.
PanelHopper what about Sarah Jane aventure they was my favourite spin off
Then miracle day happened...
I actually liked torchwood better than Doctor Who. The doctor always came off as an annoying know it all who was the definition of a Mary Sue. Jack however makes plenty of mistakes and grow as a person. Also he’s not a woke character...he is well written and complex but sticks to a core design. The doctor doesn’t change...ever.
Torch wood is for adult fans of Doctor Who Sarah Jane Adventures is for younger fans of Doctor Who
Doctor who is is for both kids and adults
freshFerdinand miracle day was good in my opinion. Was just too American for some British viewers
For a second I thought the title said "Captain Jack encounters the Furries"
Captain Jack: so anyways, I started blasting
Matt B Often the same thing
He’d probably be into that
A most terrifying prospect even die someone immortal
Now that’s an episode
if barrowman had his way the show would be called touchwood
He'd (Wheel)Barrow-men...
Miracle Day was 9 years ago?! My gawd we need a show like Torchwood again.
I always found the part when it goes silent in the tunnel pretty cool.
Also that it is in sepia, except for the roses
Doctor Who sometimes treads into an almost fantasy setting by having ghosts, werewolves, witches ect. and playing most of them completely straight with the only alteration to them to make them fit into a Sci-Fi show being that they're aliens
I was happy to see Torchwood continue that trend
Still what I loved most about Torchwood, brutal, but beautiful but with hope and balance.
Is it terrible I don't blame the fairies? I mean, according to Jack his guys got drunk, murdered a kid and he did what exactly? The punishment couldn't have been too severe if they were laughing and joking together a week later.
Some of the men who were killed had nothing to do with the accident, it was only a few of them
Archie Brew Try explaining that to a fae. 😂😉
Archie Brew There isn't enough time in one man’s life to list off all of the things wrong with what you just said there. I would have accepted an actual excuse, like ”Jack didn't find out till later.”
@@firebladetenn6633 sorry for believing everyone deserves a second chance.
Wait, what has them dying have anything to do with Jack? He wasn't part of it
Archie Brew admittedly, I've never seen the episode, but from the information present, it seems as though the original comment was right, and there was little to no accountability for killing a kid. Now, I don't know about you, but where I come from, there is a keen difference between a second chance, and outright ignoring something. As for them dying having nothing to do with Jack, A, Jack outright says he was responsible for them, implying that he was their commanding officer, and therefore directly responsible for their actions, and in extension, their fate. B, not what I said. I said the proper excuse should be that Jack did nothing, and nobody else did anything because Jack theoretically didn't know about the incident until after his men were killed, which puts the entire scenario on a whole new light.
They should bring this back
Jacks actor said he's open to coming back
Matt Jones but the actor is old and grey now, tricky to explain in a character who barely ages, unless they digitally de-aged him, or changed the actor, ooh, or change the timeline, he does get old after all, just waaay slower, like a century is a decade to him.
How about in the first episode it’s explained or depicted that the whole Torchwood base got caught in a time loop that accelerated his ageing a millennia? He can a be a hot gun toting sexy daddy from then on.
@@Lumibear. Well guess what
Liouss i know, foot in mouth huh!? Mind you, there were a LOT of lens flares over his backlit face, but I think he’s getting away with it. Kinda freaky, I jumped out my skin when I heard his voice, especially as I’d just been discussing it here, it was like they’d read our minds. Good though!
@@Lumibear. Actually I'm French and I first watched the DrWho with French voices, but I'm listening them in English now (I improved at it so I don't have to wait the French version) and so I first didn't recognize the voice, my jump was so huge when I saw his face lmao
Loved this episode. Torchwood was fantastic!
It's a shame to hear about the scandal stuff came out about John Barrowman. It was great to see him back in the role after 10 years.
The fae are unforgiving and if you kill or stand in the way of what they seek you are dead.
CZcams algorithm is doing wonders for once!
right? For me, it was mincraft - minecraft - minecraft - Torchwood
Was Jack himself murdered with all others but got ressurected afterwards?
Jack was killed by Daleks in the end of Christopher Eccleston's run of Doctor Who.
He was resurrected by Rose when she had the Time Vortex inside her.
@@NateSean that wasnt the question, and I believe all the others died and he was left because he cant die
Probably, or the Fairies knew that they can't kill him so they left him be. All of the man in his squad die with rose stuff in their mouth while Jack doesn't.
No, the scene obviously has no break it it. Also, Jack says his men got drunk and killed the chosen one girl, not him, so the faeries had no reason to kill Jack.
The actor playing Jack is a fairy.
Small Worlds is by PJ Hammond and features a lot of the same ideas he used in his brilliant Sapphire and Steel series. Probably the best episode of this show.
I'm glad they brought captain jack harkness back in season 12 of dw but it seems a waste not having him meet the 13th doctor
They didn't meet
@Quinn Thomas they didn't meet
Ikr, Jack would've been like, "I recognize that face." I suppose that might be why they didn't, to avoid that awkwardness.
it seems they brought him back as "clickbait" material for the 13th doctor, because the series viewership was going downhill.
he wasnt there when his own unit killed the chosen one, so he wasnt killed by the faeries.
‘Captain Jack encounters the fairies’
Oh dear 😂
oh Captain... how i miss you. seeing you in Arrow brings back so many memories. Good times.
Edit: that perfect chin by the way.
That jawline don't lie and neither do I.
0:14 Bit noncey....
I wonder how would the Doctor react to them?
I PLAYER !!!
man so glad fairies don't exist they scare me in this episode !
Fairie is a name humans invented. We don't know what they call themselves...
Someone is gonna make a gay joke
u no what i mean Blah ! Good joke though sir I take my hat off to you !
How do we know that thay dont?
Barrowman meets fairies....I'm saying nothing.
That doen't make any sense because Jack didn't become immortal until Rose resurrected him in Bad Wolf so how could he be the same age during WW2 as he was in 1909?
after being resurrected by rose, he tried to travel back in time, but landed 200 years too early, so he lived through the 1800's and 1900's
colin Paterson originally eh was from year 5000 or so
colin Paterson after he was resurrected, Jack ended up travelling to Cardiff in the 1800’s and had to live through the entire 20th century
ngl I cried during this episode
Love that the troop is a combo of white christian brits and sikh brits. Sikh regiments never get the credit they deserve.
Scp 478
The body horror of this SCP hurt me.
@@NonLogicUser yea but you can easily find ones without that stuff go more for safe class if keter and others arnt your thing
It takes one to meet one. 🤓
Captain Jack Encounters the Fairies what did he do look in a mirror?
I thought Captain Jack WAS a fairy
The only thing that really irritated me about Torchwood was the no life after death thing. Bloody stupid and bloody ridiculous premise!
How is that a ridiculous premise? That's like the opposite of ridiculous
dawn robertson and an afterlife isn’t a ridiculous premise?
But it's more realistic that way
Well one of the themes of the show was the existential dread of the universe. With the Doctor you see the beauty of the universe. In this you see more of the darker side of the universe. Basically what made Suzie quit, all she every day was the Weevils.
I’m sorry Jack is sympathetic to a bunch a soldiers who committed manslaughter on a child. Well is guess it be childslaughter which sounds 10 times worse. By god the differences in tone to the main show are vast. This is terrible
The History Critic Guy “some of the men” is a lot different than all of the men.
@@falcore91 Exactly, and to him, he had no idea. Had he know, he may strike a bargain
Its was a few of them that killed that girl not all of them but yh killing a child intentionally or not it’s horrible
