I have a 2011 KLR650 and love it for what it is. 62 years old now, my days of hard riding motocross are long gone and I just wanted a bike to enjoy forest service roads and tooling around in the countryside. Yeah, it doesn't do anything really great but I find it a very easy bike to ride and it takes me to very nice peaceful spots in the mountains. I have a Goldwing, Indian Roadmaster, Concours 1400 and a Yamaha Stratoliner. Each bike give a completely different experience. For what I needed it for, it was priced right, wasn't complicated (easy to work on) and dead reliable. Right now, I'm prepping it for a trip to Northern Idaho (on a trailer because I'm not riding it cross country) to enjoy some back country riding with my brother. The KLR is a great bike, are there better ones.....yes....but not for the money.

Well spoken. I'm on my second KLR now. From a gen1 to gen3. Where i live in Kamloops B.C, there are endless FSR's, tons of lakes, creeks and rivers. I needed a reliable adventure bike to get me out there to fishing lakes. The price was really good on the 2024 ABS model and so here I am again on a new KLR and couldn't be more happier. Installed a cnc windshield riser, GPS mount, a *Dirtracks full crash gaurd, usb outlet, seat pad with a sheepskin cover and I mounted an ammo box on the rear rack to start things off. Plan on installing rear *Dirtracks pannier racks, aux lights, IMS ext shifter, better footpegs and Barkbuster hand gaurds. Outfitting these bikes is a lot of fun! 😅

I have no regret whatsoever purchasing my KLR, have owned my gen two several years now. It is the one motorcycle that no matter who I put on it they always return with a wall to wall smile, even my biggest baddest Harley friends. I plan to always have one in my stable. Completed a dream trip out West this August, traveled more than eight hundred miles in the dirt in the states of Wyoming and South Dakota.

I still have the Harley - but I love m '23 KLR to bits. I spend as much, if not more time on it on the road as I do the HD. I like how lightweight and spunky it is to ride around, even if only around town for errands or a short blast to enjoy a nice day. No regrets at all - price, form and function - I love it.

I regretted selling my KLR650 for a 150cc scouter bike, with which I had the most terrible accident 15 years ago, breaking my leg, leading me to the the decision to stop biking. But nowdays I am rethinking into getting back into biking, just with a safe bike like the KLR, most probably a street bike this time like Ninja 650.

Very capable offroad bike, but far too heavy for me. I've owned 2 of em. If I had one now, I would ride it as a road bike. It's an excellent road bike that "can" take any road when conditions change like construction or even gravel. Making it more ideal for changing conditions than other street bikes like cruisers ect. It's a great bike, but to me it is a road bike and the ultimate utilitarian road bike.

Only two bikes I've ever owned are KLR650s. 34K on one and 45K on the current bike. Since I've never experienced other bikes, I'm happy to say I've been very pleased with the KLRs. No single track riding, but lots of gravel roads. Priced right, convenient dealer/service locations, easy for DIY servicing, and doesn't look bad. Its honestly the perfect beginner bike for a tall person. Idk had an 1190, and the klr and didnt wanna sell it then, 1190 got wrecked, and still riding the klr. Wanting to dip my toes into the dirt side of riding but I am unsure as to how committed I wanna be. Start cheap on say a tw200, dr200, klx230 or just jump onto the KLR or the new vstrom de800 . . .
