  • Update 13 Aug: I have tried to turn off then on again it does help to stop first light blinking.
    However not sure if that really solve the problem.
    There is no perfect machine for everyone. Lelit MaraX is using E61 Grouphead, if you go and research further it is an old technology and heating up has been one of the problem. In this machine starting up is only 26 minutes its considered really fast.
    Changing temperature range does takes time and infact in all E61 machines. even if you have the one with temperature display it does not guarantee that your Grouphead has the exact same temperature, in MaraX it is being honest, the sensor will tell you when it is really ready not just display gimmick.

    I just installed the flow control on mine too. Same thing as in your video. The problem is the flow of 6ml/sec from the vibration pump which is custom made by Olab. Bianca has around 10 ml/sec. That is why the paddle working range is better i think.

    • @PanzerIV88
      @PanzerIV88 Před rokem

      That's true a rotary pump always have a higher ml/sec but I've seen a reviewer say the paddle at the maximum value by default with the Bianca V3 would be 5.4ml/s only, unless then the difference is a constant full force 5.4ml/s versus a "slow/weak 5.4ml/s with no restriction" so when you apply restriction which isn't meant to be done by default, the Olab pump won't catch up?

    Any E61 is going to be slow to change temps.. Even in the Bianca.. you can increase the PID and the brew boiler will change in a minute or two, but the E61 will not stabilize to the new hotter temp for a bit.. maybe 5-10 minutes? So you change the Bianca up 3 degrees.. wait 2 minutes, brew boiler gets to new temp, but the E61 has only changed 1 degree by this time (just guessing). Then as the brew water flows thru the E61, it cools 2 degrees and you are cool at the puck. No E61 is going to be quick to change temps. This is the advantage of the saturated brew groups and those similar like the Pro300, Breville DB.

      @@nusstu Although, technically not a saturated group, a very small brew boiler that sits on top of a much smaller group can be controlled more precisely than the E61 system, which was originally designed for commercial use where shots happen constantly. You put a PID in the area on top of the group and you only have a short distance for the water to get to the screen. The Profitec Pro300, Breville DB use this type of approach as does the more expensive LMLM. The Decent is the best home machine example of using sensors and mixing to obtain ultra-stable brew water temp with future versions allowing temperature profiling.. the ability to control temperature change during extraction..

    I don't think you've installed anything wrong. From what I can gather the MaraX is designed to be the way it is specifically for people who just want a straight forward, very even temperature, fast coffee from a well made machine that is going to last and not cost them $3000 only $1000
    No "Moding"" allowed on the Marax.....it just won't work - it sends the Gicar computer box crazy !
    I do agree the temperature adjustment, 0, 1 & 2 in "Brew Mode" according to Lelit takes 15 minutes and that is far too long. It's probably because of the firmware on the Gicar box and allowing time for the E61 group head to adjust to the right temperature.
    It's also very peculiar that in Brew Mode the initial heat up time is very fast.....about 15 to 20 minutes but if you start up in "Steam Mode" the initial heat up time is 45 minutes !
    Crazy Italians !! For someone like me who only likes & uses Lavazza Rosso beans twice a day it is the perfect machine - The last thing I want is a Lelit Bianca with "Flow Control" - That would be a nightmare !

    • @kymbolino
      @kymbolino Před 3 lety +3

      I have the Bianca and flow control has, unexpectedly, made my life a lot easier. This is because grind setting, for me, is no longer the main variable. Instead I find I can just adapt the peak of the pressure profile to suit each shot based on the flow coming out. After a few days of having the machine, I hardly have to think about it manipulating the paddle, like changing gears in a manual car. That’s my 2 cents for anyone out there who might be thinking that Bianca will make things more complicated, for me it’s surprisingly been the opposite. The thinking you normally put towards the grind setting is just shifted over to the paddle.

I have been using a lelit mara x for 3 weeks on which I have installed a probe thermometer on the group, I do not use the eco mode which caused the temperature to fluctuate too much. Since yesterday I have a big temperature problem, on the temperature range "0" so 90 to 92 ° C my machine does not go below 96 ° C during the extraction. Normally the machine remains stable whatever the time it remains on at 89 to 90°C (group temperature) and 91 to 92°C extraction temperature. I use always filtered water and it is backflushed. - Black logo instead of red.
    - OPV Hose flushing water back in the tank rather than the drip tray more often.
    I can understand it takes more time to cool down a hot boiler but requiring 15min to raise the temperature of only 5 Fahrenheit is just wtf? @StefanusGoana  Před 3 lety

      Hi BZ10 is way to far to compare with this machine. You should compare BZ10 with PL91T or even lower model. BZ10 doesn't use E61 grouphead as in MaraX, and smaller boiler. BZ10 is cheaper i guess?

      @@damianmb5 if you can stretch your budget just a little more you should get Lelit Elizabeth, it is a double boiler machine you eon't have the desire to upgrade until perhaps you get a lot of fortune.
      The normal typical journey is from Heat Exchanger upgrade to a double boiler. Double boiler is basically an end game for home barista

      @@StefanusGoana Thanks for the recommendation. But I don't like the looks of the elizabeth nor the watertank design so I was looking for something like the Mara X or similar. The Bianca is like double the price, I don't think that for the use I will give, mainly me making espressos and occasional cappuccino, justifies the cost. Here I think is like double the price of the Mara X :/.

    Coming from a a Breville Barista and looking for the most reasonable prosumer coffee machine, I wonder if, based on your experience you would buy it again or another brand/model like ECM Classika/ Expobar Minore IV/ Quick Mill/ etc? Thank you!!

      Hi despite of the flaw it is still a great machine and i would choose it over other HX machine.
      It is the only HX machine currently in the world that has coffee priority option that doesn't require us to do excessive flushing to cool down its grouphead.
      If you have extra money then have a look at Lelit Elizabeth and Bianca

    Basically its a crap feature they didn't think through. Unfortunately, Lelit for me has become a no go for an espresso machine. What can you expect from a company that makes IRONS? They really don't know what they are doing. My greatest problems with this company is they don't offer 58mm portafilters on anything in their lower range. You have to jump to a victoria to get it. Also the Bianca and the Mara X are the only ones that have the STAINLESS STEEL boilers, the rest have the unhealthy brass boilers. They knew what they were doing when they made this choice for their upper range. I won't be buying any of their machines. There are better companies out there

    • @StefanusGoana
      @StefanusGoana  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jack, they do have Lelit Glenda 58mm. Brass boiler unfortunately i think most entry level machines are using this material due to low cost.
      Ironing yes i'm using it and they are great to be honest hahaha....
      They come with boiler which i think uncomparable even with big brand out there.
      In my opinion, there is no Perfect espresso machine. We just have to find and weight between pros and cons and make decision based on our situation.
      If you really love a certain brand you will even go the extra mile to perfect it's weaknesses.

      @@StefanusGoana I bought a breville in the end only because i wanted stainless steel not brass, plus it has preinfusion, one shot, double shot, it just works. If lelit changed all their machines to brass and swapped out the insane 57mm for a 58 on all machines. They would sell tons of machines. They really have not given it a lot of thought.

      @@Jack_Hunt Hi Jack. I was like you, around 7 months ago. Wanted something better than my silly Delonghi, but wasn't sure it was worth spending huge bux on fancy names and "quirks", when I could just get a Breville? So I went for the Breville Bambino. It was lovely. It died last week, got stuck in a cleaning cycle, then started leaking, wouldn't respond to buttons... Let me be blunt... Breville are shit. So many people told me that, but like you I figured it was silly to spend more on less features. Enjoy your Breville. Cherish every cup...
