I found out something many years ago. Meat for breakfast allows you to burn thru the afternoon while everyone else is fading. It takes longer to digest and keeps supplying blood sugar to your brain and your muscles. Have salami for breakfast and you will be a champ. Or cold steak from the last bar-b-que.

Ironhorse, you guys are truly the greats in what you do, you and Buckin, and no doubt about it I have learned a lot of very useful info, but you guys are making a huge mistake, because here you are with all the good intentions of giving everyone you can as much of your knowledge as you can, of which you guys have paid a huge price for, over all those many years of doing thousands of moves, experiments, trying this, trying that, refining, tweaking, adding, subtracting, and tons of other things, and have amassed a huge amount of extreme value, and all of which you give away for free, well god bless you for that, but, you guys are so familiar with what you do, that when you explain things "you" guys know and understand what you are talking about, so in that sense I do believe that you think everyone else does, and a lot of things are left hidden in plain sight, such as that timing wheel. With all the videos I have watched, I have no idea how it works, or why it works, and, once it is on the engine, ok fine, but what is next, how does it help you, what do you do next, what physical move comes next, what is the actual nitty gritty? Then there is the porting, but what is it, how do you port, what does it do, and then there is the muffler, "how" does it benefit anything, how does it add horse power, how do you know what size to make all the parts? Well, I have no idea, yet you guys have spoken probably millions of words about all this stuff. Your mistake is that you are leaving something out of the equation. I think you think that we know what you are talking about simply because you know what you are talking about. For instance, Buckin was showing us how he uses that short flat depth gauge, and showed us a chain with all different length teeth, and showed us how it cuts perfectly straight, but didn't explain the actually nitty gritty of how or why it works, and it took me a long time to figure out that as long as each raker is sized to the tooth closest to it, then each tooth on that chain is shaving off the exact amount, so you get a straight cut. Actually, before Buckin, I only knew of the straight long gauge that rests on top of the teeth. Been heating the house with wood for 43 years, the exact amount of time I have been cussing the blade. I have always wondered how in the world do those loggers get their saws to shoot out a waterfall of huge chips, yet no matter what I did I never got those results, so I figured they had some kind of professional blade, and I remained in the dark. I am learning but I'd like to learn faster. By the way Iron, I try to hang on to every word but sometimes you sort of trail off, sort of like the word got dull and doesn't cut as well. Above all though, you guys are great and I hope the tooth will continue to set you free.
Im learning how to work on saws in ludowici, ga for my private collection, and you have more information on all my old saws than anywhere elese, i really appreciate it, i have about 18. I have to fix, alot of homelight xl 12s , and probally, every old saw they made lol!
I'd initially replied affirmatively/in-agreement but I recant, now that I've tried (did..) make a video showing-off my 660 muffler-plate, never even posted it because I know people would just attack the hell out of my methodology & I realized there's NO way to get-around that, IE there's no way for me to assure yiou I'm not cutting better with the saw I want wining (even if subconsciously!), or using better fuel in it etc etc there are a million ways you could mess with results, intentionally or not, am far FAR more inclined to just hear the principles and see which are the "golden principles" so to speak and, from Harv, I usually don't feel any need for proof (for instance though, and to be claer I still make them, but the intake port roof-grooves, would love to see if those truly help, have a worry they may hurt, though in either case it wouldn't be very significant at all)
how are you coming up with the 165 degree number on your second check, or the 160 on your first? what formula are you using to come up with those numbers?
I have a Husky 61 sn4121081 donner. I don't know any thing about it. The first video of yours I watched a few weeks ago you had a 61 you talked about putting a 272 big bore kit on it. That peaked my interest into doing the same on my saw. I have had a hard time finding the next video, if there is one. I have watched a bunch of your other videos and I have enjoyed them all. I realize after a few minutes you are working on a 372. Do the 272 and 372 need the same numbers and do you take material out in the same places on both. If you have videos on timing and porting the 272 could you give the names or dates I may be able to find them. Also has Kolen done the porting videos yet. I would like to see them. Thanks
seems to me its cheaper for me to buy parts from outside Australia, here like everywhere on ebay too many so called high quality parts sold by mower shops etc that are anything but high quality. Im the same politics and politicians are meant to be leaders not fools.

What kind of timing advance/retardation are you using on this build? I've got some flywheel keys en route, have never played with timing-advances before and have finished (round-1 finished, at least!! You know what I mean ;D ) my pair of 660's so now just wanna experiment with timing (maybe I'll find the standard was best, am gonna file about 10thou off one key, and 20 off the other, install them onto both of my units -- then from there I'll experiment to see which is best, and then file both of my original keys to that width!) I find it weird that a lot of the time people seem to port w/o doing stuff like timing (or proper mufflers...LOVE those bearclaw type pipes, Buckin's newest iteration is groundbreaking IMO), though I also find it weird that people tend to approach porting as "either / or" when it comes to the exhaust: #1 they raise the exhaust on a standard-height cylinder, OR they intentionally do NOT touch the ceiling height of a dropped/CNC'd cylinder.....this seems an odd overlap to my mind, I'd figure you'd basically want to port map your cylinder like Bayou Powersaws does, and go from there -- exhaust height, and cylinder height/deck height/band height, all being up for change...but it seems like if shaving the deck is on the menu, suddenly raised exhaust roofs are a bad idea...cannot understand this "seeming contradiction", heck I have a slightly over-raised roof and I'm compensating by decking the cylinder base by 10thou, IMO these things work together!

I was with you. It took me a minute as well. Don't add the two numbers. Think of the difference between them on the wheel: 80* from 100 to 0 and 80* from zero to 80* = 160 :)
DUDE, you have your ABDC and your ATDC all mixed up and jumbled around on your paper and when your talking. Makes it very confusing when your not saying the right thing..
