Me as a german thinks it's a little cheeky to say Franz is best player on the team. There should be no doubt that Dennis has proven our most important player for sure
Yes, that's kind of a hot take from my perspective. Dennis has definitely earned this throughout the career, while Franz' NT career has been too short to tell it. But I really think Franz has all the tools necessary to take over this team soon and his size makes him tougher to guard.
I think he called him best "all around" player and made clear Dennis is the strongest player in the team at the beginning

I'm from germany and been following our team for quite some time the performance at the eurobasket gave me hope so I was bullish on them being a medal contender. But if you did not follow the team it is understandable that you don't have them on your radar

as a german followng the team for ages i have to add that it seems like they are not afraid anymore, even in eurobasket semis the team seemed kinda scared of spain, now their energy is even better, just look at them celebrating with lo, they know they can beat anyone this year

He got an $31M/2yrs offer before his 1st Lakers season, which he declined coming of his career season as a runner up 6th man in OKC - what sounds reasonable to me. And after the season his agent didn't respond the first 10 days of the free agency. So all together a nice mix of hoax news, reasonable hesitation and a moron as agent.

In Germany they already said before the tournament even started that this is the best national team they've ever had.
Its just a really well balanced team with good size and depth at every position. It also helps that most of their players have some experience in FIBA basketball. Some of them still play in Europe, others like Theis or even Schröder played FIBA ball in their early days. You can see this helps if you look f.e. at how Luka just toys with everyone at FIBA basketball...
Overall pretty excited about how for they can go... also Olympics are coming up next year. If they can stay healthy and hold the team together this will be fun

I have them for a medal run for weeks now. They played a solid preparation and lost to the US in the final minutes at a showcase where the US boys had a day rest while germany played back to back. These dudes are real and a real team, just like the US is. If they get it done as a team they can go at least to the semis, if things go right they have a shot even at the gold medal.
And I was right 🙂 well that it will be gold is a bit unexpected to be honest, but watching all games start to finish it was well deserved. Great team
