Hi Tom, great video. I enjoy the peace and positivity you bring to your audience. The simple cooking in the beautiful outdoors what could be better? You are a great craftsman and woodsman. I really enjoy the longer videos it gives me time to enjoy a nice cup of coffee with ya. Take care buddy. See ya on your next great adventure.👍
Ahhh that’s wonderful my friend 🤗 People often say that I have to make shorter videos 😉 … and I try … but somehow I always ends up with more 😆 … I have SO much I want to show 🏕🔥
Tom
Ain’t no one any better that creates Videos to enjoy with so much mystique and wonder of the previous Viking culture and Heritage. You do a wonderful job with your craft.
Thanks a lot for your kind words 🤗 I’m so glad you like my videos and find them interesting as well 🏕🔥🌲
Tom
A nice start with a new video on Frøya's day. I like making fires with fire steel, it gives me a special feeling of mastery, and a feeling of closeness to the spirit of the Vikings.
In contrast to Denmark, there is little flint here in Norway, but there is plenty of quartz here, and it is a perfectly good substitute. I have made many camp fires in the forest this winter. I collected grass just before the snow came, and stored it in the basement, now it's almost empty, so it's good that spring is coming soon (even though it's been snowing for the last 24 hours here in Oslo). A great idea with the soapstone lamps! Takk for turen!
Appreciate you came along again my Norwegian Viking brother 😁👍🏻🇳🇴 and enjoyed your time together with us🐕
I didn’t know that flint was rare in Norway 🤔 here in Danmark it’s very common and I just have to bend down and pick it up from the ground 😆👌🏻 Enjoy your snow and the signs of spring that’s just around the corner
See you again soon 🏕🔥🌲
Tom
@@cimbrerbushcraft-vikingheritag Flint is not found in solid rock in Norway. In Norway, flint is only found as loose rock in beach deposits from Southern Norway and up along the Westland coast. The rock was brought here by a large ice flow that tore loose flint from the Skagerrak and brought it north along the Norwegian coast.
That’s amazing 😉👍🏻 and thanks for your information
Tom
Another Great Forest Outing. Loved Your Soap-Stone Carvings, Thanks Tom & Lil Cornelius ! ATB T God Bless
I’m glad you enjoyed it Terry and it was nice to see you again out there where 🌲🐕adventures are made 🏕🔥

Your candle creation is interesting and good with historical explanation
I’m so glad you enjoyed my new video and find it interesting 😁👍🏻 and I appreciate that you came along and joined us out in the beautiful forest 🏕🔥🌲🐕
Tom
Hey, Tom. Another great video. I did know about soap stone. The vikings used to use the Shetland Isles as a winter staging post. Whilst there they used to carve cooking vessels into the local soap stone, then carve the vessels out of the main stone. In places you can still see where the vessels were carved out of the stone.....
Waw that’s amazing Daniel 🤗 and I didn’t know that 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing this with us my friend 😁🏕🔥🌲🐕
Tom
I love how you introduce a homemade item, and also the “how to” in the same video. I appreciate how much work you put into all your videos for us. Looking forward to my firebowl real soon now 😊. Thanks for sharing with us again ✌🏻

Tom
Hello Tom & Cornelius👍👍 Great to see you out in the forest again enjoying nature, always a pleasurable and interesting time joining in on your camp. Soapstone is used for many things that deal with fire related items, insulating properties and easy manipulation make it very handy as in the nice lard lanterns you made. Interesting story about the ballast stones, thanks for that. Good food and drink, Cornelius thought so too. Cimbrer coffee 😉 to the rescue, made this one official. Great video, well filmed as always. See you next time.. Arinn Firebowl on the way😁
Yeahhh isn’t that great Terry 😁👍🏻🔥 and hope you’ll enjoy using it. Thanks for joining Cornelius and me again 🐕 and for your kind and supportive words 🏕🔥

See you again soon 🏕🔥🐕
Tom
I so enjoy watching you set up your camp, the lovely food, and see you using your incredible gear! These are my favorite that you do and I learn a lot by these. Your little village is wonderful too! Thank you for letting me sit at your fire again! Note: I too have a "Viking" whetstone that I got about a year ago. I use for the final polishing of my blades and nothing works as well as my little stone - goes with me on all my hiking/camping trips and use at home too. Mine is about the same size that you got, but I like since it is easier to carry. I really liked this video!
Thank you so much David for your kind and positive feedback 🤗 I’m so glad you like and enjoy my new video and I always appreciate when you come along and sit by the fire 🔥 together with me and my little Cornelius 🐕🏕

@@cimbrerbushcraft-vikingheritag you are very welcome my friend
Hello from Oklahoma! Good Video!👍👍 The history of the sharpening stones is very interesting. Here, Arkansas Stones are the ones to have. Most were quarried from the Ouachita Mountains in Arkansas. I've never seen the soapstone lamps, cool idea. Always a good day with Cimber Bushcraft! Little Corneilius is a very active, ornery pup. Fun To watch. Thanks for all You do! God Bless!
The really good hard Arkansaw stones are getting really hard to find. So much has already been quarried. The Smith family is still in business and owns probably the largest quarry. I knew the Pates, who had Pioneer Whetstone, but they have been dead for many years now.
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback 🤗🐕 and for joining me and my little rocket out in the forest
See you again soon 🏕🔥🌲
Tom
Very interesting 😉 and I appreciate that you want to share this with us 👍🏻🏕🔥

Great video Tom. Soapstone is also found in Shetland (North Scotland) and of course the Vikings knew about that and quarried it there. All the best 🙂

Hello Tom, good to see you and Cornelius out in the forest. Your new soapstone lamps turned out very nice👌. If you walked away from the table I don't think Cornelius would save you much 😁. Thanks Paul 😁👍🏻 I’m glad you came along and enjoyed it with us 🏕🔥🌲🐕Tom 🍻
Very interesting and entertaining video Tom. I can see where you would have to have one of those stones with you all the time since the tools would be getting dull constantly. There wasn't any stainless steel blades back them, LOL!
Great video, thank you and ATB!
Ha ha no that’s right Mike 😉 and I’m looking forward to getting the bigger one and making a sheath for it 🏕🔥

Very cool Tom,soapstone also makes good pipe bowls. They were used here by Native Americans and Fur Traders.Brian By the way the left over powder makes good polishing compound for things like horn, bone and hard stone.
Yeah I’m going to try carving a pipe from the last piece of soapstone 😁👍🏻 And thanks for your info about the dust

Another great video with Cornelius, Tom! I wish we had nice moss covered forests so that we had natural cushion where we camp. The soapstone lamps are a great addition to your kit, and they look like you just washed them from a dig in Birka. (BTW, we call that finer filing tool, a rasp.) One of the group's 5 year old daughters told her father, "If he keeps going adventuring (her term for bushcraft/camping) Cornelius is going to become bacon...". I had to share that with you as are always hysterical at her innocent observations. Be well and Go well my friend, looking forward to the next video!!
Ha ha that’s a good one Douglas 😆🐕🥓 lol and I appreciate that you shared it with me. Also thanks for joining Cornelius and me again and for your always kind and loving words 🏕🔥

Thanks to TOM for another video of a hike in nature. Once again, I really liked your new accessories. For example, a collapsible wooden table, paraffin lamps, a copper tube wick, a wooden sheath for an ax, and a grinding stone on a leather suspension. It is very nice that you have such a wonderful nature, wonderful locations. Unfortunately I don't have that option yet. I live in Ukraine in Kharkov, I only have the opportunity to go to a local landing where I have a small parking lot. Unfortunately, explosions break the peace from time to time. the city is being shelled. It's a little safer now compared to the start of hostilities last year. Not far from my parking lot there were deep craters from shells and damaged trees. And recently, some ill-wishers robbed and burned my parking lot, I had to restore it. I hope they don't touch her. It snowed two or three days ago, it was very beautiful and pleasant. But today the temperature is above zero. I am waiting for spring, God willing, there will be more than once the opportunity to relax in nature, which I wish you too. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for your feedback my Ukraine 🇺🇦 friend 🤗 and for your update from the war zone your living in. It’s brav of you to still be living there and i send all the best wishes for you and your family … please let this meaningless war be over soon. Stay safe and strong and keep believing in a bright future in your country 🏕🔥

Hi Tom. Again a fantastic video in an incomparable place, which would be wonderful to be able to have in Spain, where you can make fire and spend the day without anyone bothering you. Not here. Pity. The company that Cornelius makes for you is undoubtedly great, it is charming. The subject of stones is very interesting, both for the carving of them and the history of sharpening stones. I imagine that in your area if there is a place specialized in geology, they could tell you where they can be found. I had never heard anything about microcrystalline quartz... A real pleasure to see you in this new video, Tom. A big hug and my love. See you soon.
Thank you so much Miguel for joining Cornelius and me again 🤗🐕 it’s always a great pleasure when you come and visit us. Regarding the stone 🤔 we actually don’t have any rocks here in Denmark 🇩🇰 just soils and some stones that came down from Norway during the ice age 😉 Only on a small island called Bornholm … close to Sweden has rocks and I live very far from that location😆
Hope your having a great week my friend 🏕🔥🌲🐕

LG. Nico
Thank you so much Nico for your feedback 🤗 I understand a bit German 😊 and what you write 👍🏻 but if you can write in English I would be very grateful 👏🏻🇩🇪

that's a useful idea to slice an onion in half and roast the middle, then holding it like a cup and pick it's contents with a stick, knife or whatever - no need to cry while peeling which is the boring part!
Absolutely 😆 and it actually gets cooked nicely and tastes great 👍🏻🧅😋🏕🔥🌲Tom
