    Mike I find your commentary refreshing in this time of "infomercial" channels. Please keep the videos coming!

    GREAT POINT AND VIDEO, The vast majority of cameras are so good today with the technology and processing that its more then adequate for most users. How you get the most out of your equipment and photo technique is the answer.

    I agree completely.
    Case in point: I got tired of carrying around DSLRs. They were big & heavy,- and I'm getting older now.
    I swapped them out with a discontinued Sony Nex-6. 16mp, much smaller and lighter.
    Not up to date with 2020 bells & whistles, but this seven year old camera does a fine job.

    Always good to see Dr mike.....I bought a Sony Nex 6 with kit lens some years ago......i was tired of carrying a canon 5D mk2.....all the reviews of the Nex 6 said the menus were terrible the Kit lens was terrible etc.....5 years on,i use the NEX 6 daily.....I sold the Canon 5D......The 16-50 oss kit lens on the Sony produced sharper images than my 50mm f1.4 EF lens....Of course i made excuses for the Canon ,the truth hurts.....The Northrups have just dumped Sony for Canon,they dumped Nikon for Sony last year.

    You might be able to glue on the loose part of the other lens and it might be good to use. I would just try it … ;-) I myself bought a used E-M10 MkII as my back-up camera, and it works quite nicely alongside my Pen F Digital (not pro-grade or weather sealed either). It even has a hot-shoe *and* a little pop-up flash. It even did cost me only slightly more than the lens you showed. The reasoning behind this buy was a canoe tour where I didn't want to have my much more expensive Pen F exposed to a possible dip in the water (even a weather sealed body wouldn't take it easy when gone overboard ;-)). It will be converted to a full-spectrum or IR camera in the long run, so this was a no-brainer.

    I tired to email you on your website but it failed. So I will cut and paste my email here: Dear Dr Mike
    I have been watching your videos since 4 y ago. You have been an inspiration to keep my old cameras and use them - which I have done. And to my surprise and pleasure, they work well for my purpose which is mainly family and travels. I missed listening to you, your calm voice and common sense approach to the little hobby of photography (in an everyday man kinda way). I hope to see more of you in newer videos soon.
    Your sincerely, Dr Lawrence Ng, MD, family Doc in Singapore.
    My CZcams channel is larryng, where my photos are made into videos for reasons similar to yours, ie for future generations to find me when I am gone from this earth.

      Thank you very much Dr. Ng. What a thoughtful reply. I have debated doing more CZcams videos and I may. I never monetized my channel. I made videos because I wanted to share information with others. CZcams moved to a position where they were going to monetize me anyway, and keep the profits (what little that they were). That business move turned me off. Anyway, I continue to take photos and I continue to be passionate about photography. I'm now retired (for a couple of years) and very much enjoying a simpler less complicated life (I'm sure you understand since you are also a doc). Life is good. Take care... Dr. Mike

    Good example, Mike! Recently I encountered a guy who has great shots of butterflies. As I also like this kind of photography but the most impacting issue with it is busy background distracting from the butterflies. He resolved this with humble set he uses only for butterfly shooting. He bought used Rebel 7 and old macro lens with long focal range. AF is slow, serial shooting is slow. But main issue is resolved and background is completely smothered and blurred. This allows to make competitive photos in this genre.

    I've just got paid for a shoot I done with a Panasonic G7.. Not my first paying job using the G7 and won't be the last.

    Good shots, Dr. Mike. Did you shoot the blog photos in jpeg? I remember your video where you talked at length about why you shoot jpeg and I was very much in agreement with you.

    • @Drmikekuna
      @Drmikekuna  Před 4 lety

      Hi, yes... 100% JPEG. At times I'm posting photos from my phone, or editing photos were taken using the Panasonic on the contractor's computer. Despite what influencers say, there is quite a bit of latitude embedded in a JPEG image (although a RAW file will have more). I only shoot RAW under the most adverse shooting conditions for all of the reasons that I stated in my past videos.
