Thankful for videos like this. Kia Sorrento started using 1Q a week in oil. It was the PCV. It was worn out. I also replaced my oil cap because the seal was hard and flat.

You called it PCV valve very carefully everytime except once....lol. Almost did it. Around 4:04...PVC valve. Every GDI should be replaced 25K. The Hyundai/Kia GDI's are junk and that little $8 part can cause hundreds of dollars in diag fees!!!! They recommend every 40-80K, bs do it every 25K whether it needs it or not to avoid havoc.

I don't have GDi but a 1.2 petrol engine 2011 Hyundai i20 that only did 40K miles and I keep noticing just 1 litre of engine is left after every six months of driving a little for shopping n work.

My wife's 2011 Kia Soul is burning oil bad. I just changed the spark plugs and plug wires, two of those plugs looked awful. The auto parts store did not have the PCV valve but another one has it. I took off the one in it and it does not seem to be clogged and costs 26, but it is really easy to get to going to pick it up at another parts store and try it. Also going to change the oil myself this next time, I typically take it somewhere that sucks the oil out with a vacuum pump. I have heard though that those pumps leaves sediments in the oil pan that hurts oil efficiency and is harmful over time.

Well, it does come off. You'll just have to keep working on it, try spraying a small amount of dish soap and twist it side to side. It will come off. Good Luck.

We have a 2007 kia optima, it smokes from the top left side of the engine, and makes the oil back up and squeeze out of the filter. When you shut off the engine you hear some kind of ball hitting then a suction sound and the ball drops. When I look at engine diagrams to see what that part is, it says PCV and solenoid. But every video never mentions this symptom. I can't afford to take this to the shop and know no one who can help. Have you ever heard of these symptoms before? I know the block will crack if I run it so it sits. I know no oil is getting in. I have no clue what the part is. Any ideas please?

What symptoms does a bad PCV valve cause?
If the engine is difficult to start, idles roughly, misfires and is consuming more oil than usual, the PCV valve is jammed in the open position. When the engine surges and belches out black smoke or there's an obvious oil leak or build-up of sludge inside the engine, the valve is stuck in the closed position. I would replace this first. and see what happens.

I have had an issue with my car not accelerating once I hit 3000 rpm. The acceleration is slow and constant in all gears. So I hit on symptoms 3,6,7,8,10,11. But my RPMs are never allowed to reach higher than 3000. Does this contradiction rule out changing the pcv valve? I have a 1.6L 2017 soul manual transmission! Thanks! (No mechanics have solved the issue yet)
