If you need to test PCV valve on your car or clean PCV valve that is stuck open or stuck close we will explain how to do that. Most people never replace or test the PCV valve on their car but the PCV valve is very important for your engine. We demonstrated how you can simply test PCV valve in just a few seconds. In some cases you may be able to clean PCV valve and make it work again but our pcv valve was completely done. I test my pcv valve and I blow air from side wich is go to head is open
From other side with is go to intack is blocked
Just replace it, pcv valves are cheap don't clean it

I usually have a glass jar of acetone on garage. I soak PVC valve for 2 hours. and does the trick. Cleans the gunk inside valve pretty good. Thanks for the informative vedio and Don't forget to have a drink every time your hear "Guys".😁

P.s. some slap shot mechanics, use cheapest vac hose. Vacuum will actually collapse these cheap hoses.

The balloon test is a good one, but instead of cleaning it's better just to install a new one (not expensive), I just replaced it in my car myself (just over 75k miles), and I think the car is performing better - who knew this little piece can make such a difference in the car

I changed the pcv valve the hose and the separate data connector going into the resonator but but i still have a p0442 evap small leak the scan tool had said it from the pcv from the mechanic i went to any advice should i have put Teflon tape around the threading to the pcv valve

Can a bad PCV valve make timing chain sound louder?
Remove the pcv. It might put up some struggle if the engine is cold and the grommet is also cold. Start the engine with the pcv removed. Check for a vacuum at the base of the valve. (No vacuum pump needed other than the factory equipped engine pump.) If there's no vacuum at the base of the valve then check the vacuum line to the intake source. Then shake the valve and listen for a metallic clicking. If it doesn't click it's plugged up. You could possibly clean the pcv with some choke cleaner but if it's sludged for lack of good oil maintenance I'd probably just order an OEM valve because aftermarket valves don't all open and close at the exact pressure as the OEM. An aftermarket might be ok for a few days but I wouldn't rely on a cheap aftermarket valve because it could end up sludging an engine. Not replacing your pcv could end up sludging an engine. OEM is a specific spec. When they release the design they release a range of specs..so an aftermarket could be different or not exact. Same goes for fluids like transmission fluid. The aftermarket is rarely as good as the factory because it's somewhere in a range. It depends on how much R&D the aftermarket company does whether it's inferior or as good or even better. Aftermarket pcv valves typically don't cause sludge buildup. They typically cause a lean condition setting codes but they can cause other issues. It's a good practice to just have your dealership replace it when the service schedule says. There's internal components that could appear to pass the tests and still not be quite right.
Original pcv value and the one on the link recommended are different.

Hello, when I open my oil cap air blows out, does it mean I have a bad pcv valve?
PCV valves are so cheap, just replace or clean it and see if it fixes the issue. It’s probably not a big deal.
If not, check your oil level and coolant levels. If either one is low, fill it up and drive around, check again in a few hundred miles. If you’re loosing coolant or oil, you may have a coolant leak or head gasket issue.

Try using silicone lubricant spray (found in the automotive section at Walmart pretty cheaply) And spray it all around the seals of your valve. It's acetone based, so it's an excellent penetrant. As acetone can cause some finger numbness, Let it dry completely before touching it. This should help make your o-rings more pliable, provide some lubrication, and make it easier to take out. I tried the balloon test on a new aftermarket valve. The valve still leaks.
New from Honda - the air is leaking (the balloon is deflated). I think it should be so.

I just bought a 2017 Hyundai sonata I change oil sparks plugs and pcv valve and the oil light came on when breaking I drain the oil and only 1 1/2 quart on it so it burns 3 1/2 quarts in less than 2k miles ,why?
My wife had the same issue with her car. Hyundai had a recall to replace those motors due to the oil consumption issue.

You dont need the balloon or the pump. Just blow in both ends to check function.

Ballon test was wrong guys. Pcv will pass weak pressure air through it. But not high pressure. The baloon is giving weak pressure of course. Misinformation
Yeah, I tested with a brand new valve and it leaks as you say, same way their broken one does.
Some valves (earlier ones?) don't have balls, but a tapered plunger because at idle you have high manifold vacuum and high speed/ acceleration very low to near no vacuum and so there is a need to moderate those high vacuum conditions. Yes, they never sealed completely by design. One wouldn't want that. These things were on 6 cylinders at least, but the problem with 4 cylinders and less, pulsing and too low a vacuum is created. May be why a ball is used in these cases as you do need a seal?
May be there's another scavenging component? I don't know though. It a thing to ponder and find an answer?

I soaked and cleaned thoroughly the PCV valve, test it using the balloon as you did in the video but I did not deflate immediately the balloon in the PCV valve instead I left on the table for 4 minutes. The minutes passes by, the balloon deflated very slowly. In fact I hear a little bit of hissing sound in the PCV. So my question is should a good PCV valve be air tight sealed or not? Thanks
