    Cat Eyes is useful in single player indoors after the power goes out. With basements and bunkers coming this year it'll gain even more value.

      Hopefully, it gets better. I think it's a trait with a lot of potential!

    Sewer giving 1 point gives so much faster levelling, that if you want to get high sewing you basically need the trait.

    Appreciate the video, it was an interesting watch. I don't really agree with quite a lot of these placements though. Most of the 2 point traits are very strong. The two placements that really surprised me the most are wakeful and outdoorsman. Wakeful is probably the best trait in the game. It doesn't actually reduce the sleep it reduces fatigue buildup. That means it lets you fight longer and swing more without getting fatigued. It is extremely extremely strong for just 2 points. The problem with waking up at weird times is easily fixed with sleeping pills or beer. Outdoorsman heavily mitigates the negative impact of both thin skinned and prone to illness, so for 2 points you can take both of those negative traits and net out with basically + 10 free points to spend on other things.

      @IHaveNoIdea-929 Před 2 měsíci +1

      Exactly what i was thinking.
      If you have wakeful and wake up at like 3 am you can just read or do something else inside then go to sleep 2 or 3 hours later so that you wake up between 7am-9am
      For outdoorsman you can stay fully wet in the summer and still not get sick.

    • @ARTEMISXIX
      @ARTEMISXIX Před 2 měsíci +1

      Agreed. Wakeful is S tier and Outdoorsman is literally free when combined with Prone to Illness.

    • @ARTEMISXIX
      @ARTEMISXIX Před 2 měsíci +1

      Also Inconspicuous is useless, it does not work as intended.

    • @frasercain
      @frasercain Před 2 měsíci +1

      Agreed, wakeful lets you keep busy for longer in the day, and then minimize your time sleeping. It's like a free version of fast reader since you can read an extra 3 hours a day if you want, or work out during that time. Especially during the early game when every second counts while food is rotting everywhere.

    Some comments on your rankings:
    - S tier: is pretty much spot on, missing a few traits you've slept on, but it's undeniable that Fast Learner, Strong and Athletic are pretty much must picks.
    - A tier: should NOT have Brave. Panic is a joke in this game with the only real negative being reducing your crit chance, which even for crit dependent weapons like Spears barely affects your performance while making it impossible to take traits like Claustrophobic which could pump up your points. Keen Hearing is also a noob trap, while good a highly experienced player will do better with Hard of Hearing + more traits.
    - B tier: Amateur Mechanic... Why? Carzone episodes are just about in every VHS store and even without Carzone training up Mechanics to 2 isn't hard. Thick Skinned is also a bit of a noob trap, yes it does absolutely work, but Tailoring is far more reliable and not getting hit far more important, which you did know seeing as Gymnast is A tier. I would also say Brawler is generally worse than Baseball Player, as given the choice between short and long blunt, specializing into long blunt is a far better option while saving you points, realistically though you can ignore both and take Handy to have two useful traits that will indirectly benefit a Spear build.
    - C tier: Wakeful is an S tier perk; it is extremely cheap for giving you a lot more hours in a day. Drowsy is a horrible moodlet that makes you useless the moment it hits. Inconspicuous does not work as intended and frankly will scarcely help you, unlike Graceful that works far better as a stealth perk reducing sound by a massive level, but also reduces your chance to trip over fences. Runner? Maybe in Sprinter enabled games, but usually it's an F tier.
    - D tier: Wow, okay uh, Outdoorsman is an S tier, absolutely, it enables taking Prone to Illness with no real repercussions practically giving you free points, not to mention colds are a death sentence in Zomboid. Fast Reader is extremely overrated ESPECIALLY in SP. Lucky is honestly very good for its point cost, giving you access to a hidden loot table meaning you will always find more loot, while making foraging better being a cherry on top. Fast Healer and Eagle Eyed should honestly go to F, mainly because the negative trait counterparts are so strong.
    - F tier: For the most part I agree, except for Angler. Fishing is VERY strong in Zomboid and having a boost to it is massive. You can sustain yourself via fishing easier than via any other food method.
    Btw great video! I just have that Zomboidism LOL
    It's very difficult to know how many of the traits in this game even work, so no hard feelings on your placement of Brave, Wakeful, Outdoorsman or Inconspicuous. You'd really have no idea how these perks truly interact without checking the wiki/other peoples tests.

      nice info

    • @dddmemaybe
      @dddmemaybe Před 2 měsíci

      I agree with basically everything else you -said- wrote. Some of my other thoughts on the tier list:
      1. Yes. Trying to pump up both axes and longblunt with brawler _will bite you in the ass,_ due to splitting weapon exp in half both ways. And a +1 on an axe build is a little steep for 6 points. Lumberjack costs 2 more points (8 to unemployed) and gains double the axe rank, the axe man trait and +1 strength, conversely. And generally the traits are just better than the occupations fighting for your points anyways... Making brawler kind of even worse...
      2. Something that most players miss is the surprise (mothafucka) inefficiency of the "Fit" trait. Any singular point difference of fitness (on average) is only worth about _1/6th_ the difference of exertion capacitance compared to the difference of fitness 8 and fitness 9, where you have a huge exertion capacitance perk trigger. The exertion capacitance clock of fit 7 over fit 5 is +13% time (113%). The clock of fit 9 over fit 5 is +63% time (163%). It's really hard to do the math right without getting confused, but hitting fitness 9 in a vacuum (assumably for 10 trait points): it's almost 5 times (4.85x) as much of a bonus for only 5/3rds (1.666x) cost compared to Fit. So it's (yes you flip the fraction) 3/5 x 4.85 = _290% value for exertion capacitance point-for-point_ for Athletic(without underweight). Taking "Fit" with Underweight also isn't toooo great, as you still see only a ~+15% exertion timer (~7/6ths) instead of actually going positive 6 trait points. If you play around movement exertion safely, this doesn't sound relevantly valuable, +1/6th jogging time for 6 trait points. Fitness 9 also makes sitting farrr more powerful as you both regen faster but also get more bang per-percent of moodle to a point of even working in run-away situations and allowing spam-sprint then sit loops just whenever. It doesn't sound super great to lose "most" of that by pairing it with a go-to Underweight though. Melee weapons also _don't care_ about your fitness level for direct exertion build-up per-attack whatsoever. So a small, expensive bonus that (surprise mothafucka) doesn't affect melee weapons at all is a hard sell for the "Fit" trait to me. The extra attack speed is also mid af, at fit 5 -> fit 7 you only go from 110% to 114%, which is like 3% more multiplicative attack speed.
      3. If we look at moodles, the wakeful trait gives awakeness capacitance of (-30% build up or:) 7/10 -> 10/7 time allowance. That's +42% time for 2 points. That's 969% of the time bonus per-trait point than Fit. You can also SIT ON THE GROUND OR CAR SEAT for fitness problems, whereas sleep issues means solving _sleep safety when there are zombies._ If you're surrounded when you wake up in a car, that's likely a game over. And the risk-time relativity, when solving, is just incomparably different between the two moodles. It's like 20x time to recover sleep for ~8 hours to 30 minutes of sitting (if not way less). Sickness(while less prevalent than other moodles imo) is also somewhat similar, and the Outdoorsman trait removes tree-damage to clothes to ~100x less common on top of the value of the sickness protection. Sometimes that means you can have your op armor be more reliable. Also makes it safer to deal with sweating and exertion during colder seasons, with layer-swapping all the damn time.

      Good points except outdoorsman. You have to be literally bad at the game to get a cold in normal circumstances. Played my first 700+hrs without ever getting one, even in winter. Had to put cryogenic winter on to get my first cold ever, at the start of the run when I didn't have decent clothing on. Also, colds are exceptionally easy to cure because you just eat food and sleep in a house. Done. Cold is gone. Outdoorsman is fucking trash for any normal run. Just wear clothing, don't sprint through trees naked, and you're fine. I take thin skinned and prone to illness every run without outdoorsman. It's good ONLY for wilderness runs as mentioned and obviously CDDA and other max pop runs.

    I think thick skin is slept on. In game where one injury means death this is damn good. Lucky just makes me feel lucky who doesn't want more good items?

  • @TheTWH9
    @TheTWH9 Před 2 měsíci

    Great list! I only have one disagreement and that's regarding Lucky.
    I use it in almost all of my playthroughs because I play with extremely rare or insanely rare loot in all categories (sometimes ridiculously rare mod). On normal settings (rare or above) I don't think it's worth taking because there is so much loot, you're bound to find what you're looking for eventually. But when you loot an entire house and maybe find one can of food and a newspaper, it's nice to have Lucky because 10% more chance actually seems to make a huge difference.
    I could be wrong about how this works but I have found sledgehammers and generator magazines with very low loot settings when using Lucky, so in my experience it seems worth it for low loot runs!

    Many of your choices don't mention that every trait comes with an XP bonus to the associated stats. Those are quite powerful for gaining early levels fast and shouldn't be ignored.

    I always take dexterous. Fishing is something I never take. I fish the f%%% out of shit irl, but not in a game. I always take brave too. Seeing as anybody in game can run stitches, which irl, I'd like to see someone stitch their eyebrow back on.. I never dick with 1st aid. Ball player is definitely too expensive. If you use the susceptible mod resilience make more sense but it's just a waste of points. Gymnast is great, but i just don't load lots of negative traits. All the rest is meh, its nice but just more cost. They can bust up my routine and aren't bad, but not something I worry about.
    Idk why I'm watching anorher trait video but hey, gotta throw someone some watch and comments sometime even if you got 3k hours in.
    Keep at it broham!

      probably just you being unlucky

    • @ARTEMISXIX
      @ARTEMISXIX Před 2 měsíci

      The way Lucky/Unlucky works is every container in the game might have something like 4 items labelled as normal, that everyone will see, two labelled as unlucky, that unlucky trait havers will not see, and two labelled as lucky, that lucky trait havers will see.
      Lucky just gives you more loot overall. Unlucky the other way round. So Lucky is extremely good as it'll affect damn near every container, but it won't necessarily mean rarer loot, just more of it.
