Yeah, that actually used to not be the case in the original version, so if you want a less painful (but still pretty fuckin painful) Crash 1 experience...just get N. Sane Trilogy.
@@ranchdressing bonus stage had nothing to do with the gems in crash 1 just a save points and password in the original. N sane trilogy crash 1 you must get the boxes in the bonus stage to get the gem including the one's in the level Activision and vv added that in the game not original. In the original i can skip the bonus stage and still get the gem the old ways were better the only thing i miss out on is a save.

Technically both of them are right. Boxes break at 5 but you have two rows of those ;)

N. Sane Trilogy uses bouncy boxes from Warped in all of the games, so it's 5.
Bouncing on those crates 10 times is in the original in the n sane trilogy they shorten it to 5 in the original one wampa fruit at a time n sane trilogy 2 wampa fruit at a time.

green gem: the lost city (break every box without die)
orange gem: generator room (break every box without die)
blue gem: toxic waste (break every box without die)
red gem: slipery climb (break every box without die)
yellow gem: the lab (break every box without die)
purple gem: lights out (break every box without die)
crash bandicoot 2
blue gem: turtle woods (dont break any box)
red gem: snow go (secret path on air crash)
green gem: the eel deal (fake door)
yellow gem: plant food (beat the clock)
purple gem: bee-having (secret path)
crash bandicoot 3
red gem: deep trouble (break the ! box and go back)
purple gem: high time (death route)
blue gem: tomb wader (death route)
green gem: flaming passion (death route)
yellow gem: hang' em high (you need 10 relics)
Actually, for Crash 2's purple gem, it's a clever deception/disguise. It's something that you should think about it never happen in any Crash game.
Getting the gems on the first crash is more difficult than on 2 and 3 in my opinion. It was more of a challenge and can produce a spicy bit of rage.
@@WxB2001 Whereas when Crash 1 was legitimate challenge, Crash 2 was complete bullshit because the level designer was a man who hated testers and loved making people suffer. It was no different with the clear gem placement in later levels. Also, the fact that he built a middle finger made out of steel boxes in the Death Route of Cold Hard Crash that you have to backtrack in pretty much tells me he's immature.

The crash 1 colored gems were harder to get here than in the original. I was absolutely frustrated trying to get all of them. I think that they're harder to get only because the boxes in the bonus levels count
In case anyone reads this in 2022 they did purposefully make it harder by making the boxes in bonus levels count. They thought it would make all 3 games more cohesive but it just alienated their target audience by making a beloved game wayyyyyy too hard
You're right. I just played Crash 1 on the PS1 & also played the insane trilogy. It's not only the bonus levels that make it harder. It's also the piss poor controllers & gameplay. I played it on the PS1 via a CRT tv about 1 hour ago. I already got 2 Colored Gems.

Question with the green gem.. that box towards the beginning of the level for the head how do you make it appear?
When you go on the bouncy box, hold the X button to hit a hidden metal explanation box. Then you can get the head

no clue why but running slippery climb normally i died like no one's business. but when i actively tried to not die, i got through first try.
playing as crash is different in this game rather than in crash bandicoot 1 I think crash controls undoubtedly better in N-Sane Trilogy rather than the First game but you need some time to get used to te NEW controls

Warped is so easy with the double jump and spin crash 1 is way more challenging my only difficulty with warped is the races sometimes
i got the orange and blue fairly easily but i cant for the life of me get past the extendable bridge part with the bats to get the green, still working on it though... i never got past ripper roo when i was a kid and if i ever did it was in one sitting cause i there was no save and i never wrote down the codes :P first essentially my first time playing... warped was the one i remember the most :)

no not really. Coco and Crash play exactly the same

Gyms are well done. In the Wrath of Cortex they looked terrible.

Blue gem- Don't break all boxes and you get The special gem
I just played the original Crash 1 and holy crap it's so unforgiving! If you die on any stage, you won't get a box results screen even if you got all the boxes. Every stage is treated like the special gem stages which is harsh for getting 100%. The remaster is so much more fair and forgiving. On top of that, the controls are way better in the remaster compared to the original Crash 1.
And they expected you to use the d pad to complete it
I just played Crash 1 after playing Crash insane trilogy. It's far easier on the PS1. The controls are a whole lot better. I played it on a CRT tv like 1 hour ago. I already got 2 gems in the original. for the Remastered version & the controls are terrible plus you are forced to do the bonus stages.
i had no idea you couldnt die while breaking all the boxes in the original first game in order to get the color gems in those levels. Naughty Dog went FromSoftware on us in the 90's

When trying to get the green gem, the box at 0:46 where the mad scientist item is above the box. I have seen it (in my game) regular like, once. Now it is outlined in white. Is there a switch, or a ! box that I am missing?

Personally, I'm just wondering how many takes it took for you to nail these, especially in Crash 1. The Lab is probably the most merciless in my opinion.

Well it took me a day to get every other color gem but it took me a week for the green one

In the lost city for a green gem, how can i take the first bonus of brio? The box is empty. I tried to jump on the bouncy box holding the X button for a long time, but nothing.

You know, something I realized - while for Crash 1 Coco being there at all is a total non-canon/time travel shenanigans, if they had held off on her being playable until after you beat Cortex in Crash 2, it actually would fit without time travel being needed - she's just helping him find the gems.

At least in the original crash bandicoot game you didn't have to play the bonus round to get a gem in all levels but in the n sane trilogy you have to play the bonus round and get all boxes to get the gem.
That & the Controls are a lot better for the original Crash game.

looks like you can't get the red gem in snow go in the remastered version but you can get the red gem in snow go in the original game. crash bandicoot 2 red gem glitch.
you can get red gem in both crash bandicoot 2 games. find it by yourself.
sonic the derphog in the original game you can get the red gem from snow go with out taking the secret location or pad just go to snow go and skid jump spin and body slam off the bouncy box to get the red gem you can't in the remastered version you need to go to the secret warp room to get the red gem

int the lost city the first nitrio brio head , you have a box the jump on, i have a ivisible box i cant jump on it , how can i activate that box ?
pointt7 before you get to that point there is a jump box in a little room and you hold x to jump higher. You hit the exclamation box to see the crate to jump to the N. Brio token.

You can die and still get the gem. In the original crash bandicoot you didn't have to play or go through the bonus level to get the gem bonus level had nothing to do with the gems.

@@vgamissos5983 in the original crash bandicoot bonus level or stage don't count they had nothing to do with the gems you can skip the bonus stage and still get the gem the bonus stage was only to save the game and get a password cheat code in n sane trilogy vv and Activision put you must get all the boxes in the bonus stage they added that. in original crash bandicoot get the boxes in the level skip the bonus stage and get the gem without dying.
