“use the new raytracing hw for compute” …. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ that wins the 👑 for cluelessness!!!! … dude .. seriously??? … dont emb@rass yourself like that… the rt cores in the gpu are not general compute cores.. all they do is compute intersections and bounding box hierarchy traversals, noooothing else (and this is not even super useful when doing pure volumetric rendering - ray marching if u will).
the reality is 99.999% of viewers dont understand … so who cares… but just out of professional pride u might want to avoid saying things that are untrue.
omg, 89 euro.
the real issue is still the 8 gb base memory and 256 gb base storage and because of that any other changes are almost irrelevant.
So true! I will get the M2
8GB M3 MacBook Pro:
Not as big of a deal for the ideal target market for the MacBook Air. Usually, non-professionals or professionals with light CPU/GPU daily needs. Examples: college students in non-tech majors, office administrators, journalists, blue collar workers, and high school kids.
Paying $200 to get 16 GB of DDR5 RAM is more than enough for that target market (Total = $ 1,299).
Bro, 8GB in Mac is same as 16GB in Windows and Linux.
Didn't you get the memo?
@@MrQuay03that's just because of the fast swap. Making 8GB to 16GB as base model would cost them about 10$
We got AI before 16GB of RAM on the base model 😒
wdym
@@kevting4512That doesn't matter. You're paying a lot of money, 16 GB should be the BARE minimum. Either that or lower the price significantly.
@@kevting4512So what? Increasing the base to 16 GB will make things even quicker and more reliable for everyone.
@@KrestenGiese will Will this feature come only with macbook air m3 Or through software update they would later on be also added to macbook air M2
Why is having a 16GB base model soi important to you? It likely means that Apple would raise the prices of the base models, if they did, by $200. Having an 8GB base model means Apple can discount and I have seen the M2 MB Air base at under $800. If it upsets you so much just avoid looking at the base models.
After years of watching this channel, I have mastered the art of telling Vadim and Max apart
M2 with low power mode is just insane.
I know you made a video about it, but I cannot stress enough how impressive it is.
I’m still gonna rock with my $750 base M1 Air!
I was just checking and the trade in with Apple is about $450 for the M1, think I may be sticking with it a bit longer😅. Meets all my needs, no beach balling, but I do think about the future 🤔🤔
It's an unstoppable machine!!
Apple could at least have given us 2x6GB RAM. 12GB would have made a substantial difference. But no, because Apple :/
yes, thats why i dont buy this crap "air". its a true disrespect to consumer.
It is coming on the M4 so wait until then if it is that important.
The specs are disrespectful. I agree, but when you use one of these M1 machines, oh god!@@coachvalente
Just buy the 16GB version. Yes, it's more money, but the reality is that the base price of the Air is the 16GB version because 8GB is just too little, so ignore that 8GB version exists and then decide if you want to buy the 16GB version. In other words, don't torture yourself over the upgrade price. The 8GB version is silly and to be ignored. Then decide if you want the 16GB on its own merits.
Are you really telling me this? Makes no sense. If i spend more fore extra ram i would buy directly the M Pro. Even basic smartphones comes with 16gb nowadays. Stop defending this lack of respect. @@lairdinho
every year is "most powerful Macbook Air ever"
Sure, he didnt know what to say else 🥶
it's like saying water makes stuff wet but I mean it's technically not wrong
Funny that you did not mention the biggest improvement at all, the dual display support!
Sort of. It's still only 2 displays, the internal display counts as 1 of them. Yes, you can use 2 desktop monitors now, but the lid has to be closed.
@@rightwingsafetysquad9872 exactly, id has to be closes so you lose access to your trackpad keyboard and touch ID. so now you need an external keyboard and mouse/trackpad. this does not count as an improvement
yep. as for me, this is the most important update. Finally I can come to the office and connect 2 monitors and not forced to buy pro models if air's performance is more than enough for my needs
@@Dimonina I am still hoping that this software feature is also coming to the M2 and maybe also M1 Macbook Airs....
Let go Max!!!! I am glad you are feeling better!!
Low power mode in MacBook Air is GOD MODE
Would be interesting to see a comparison between 16" M1 Max top specs and 15" M3 Air top specs and see if it could be considered an upgrade
Tim Cook doesnt like sharing his chips with us
I’m glad this is coming soon because i want a M2 16gb with 1TB storage for the cheap. Hopefully the prices drop on those.
Recently, 16/1tb was at $1500. I doubt it gets cheaper
Really hope you do an efficiency core comparison between the M2 and M3. I really enjoyed your "low power mode on the M2 Air" video last year.
Thank you for all these comparisons, very helpful
Thank you for the product announcement. I went bought 15inch 1 TB.
amazing timing with this video!!
Tim Apple is cosplaying as Max.
M3 air 13” and 15” just released on their website.
I just bought an M1 Max 10C/32C with 64GB unified memory and 1TB SSD for 2k and it rocks.
I got a new 16+512Gb 14 inch M1 Pro on November for 1570$. I gotta say its a beast for my workflow I'm flutter developer.
I've been very happy with my M1 MBP 16 ram /500 ssd for the past 2 years. I see no real need to upgrade...
Support of two external display for me is critical, since I use two displays for work. Now, finally MacBook Air can be used for work
Yep finally. Might have to sell our still rather new M2 MBA just for this reason.
The CPU single core performance is better than the M1 MacBook Pro and M2 MacBook Pro. Multi-core is a different story.
If you need multiple displays so why you didn't consider 14 inch macbook pro? Is lighter weight is critical for you?
@@ataytaygaraev4298 exactly. I have already bought MBPR 14 with M1 Pro chipset. I use it for work, but when I travel or when my wife needs a laptop, MBA would be a perfect fit. However, MBA with M1/2 dont support two external displays which is disappointing, because I need all my laptops to be able to support two displays.
Office work ? Does it support all the softwares like MS OFFICE,tableau,POWERBI,SQL,R programming, etc...do we have to purchase them all separately?
Dual monitor support finally! But the laptop lid has to be closed :(
Wouldn't the Apple keyboard and mouse not work then? Oh no.
Isn't that how most people use a docked laptop? I certainly do - 2 large external monitors and a laptop with its screen turned off.
Good review showing the real difference the M3 makes. Other reviews seem to miss most of what you've presented
I picked up the 15” M2 16/512gb for around $1400 after taxes. I am still VERY happy with my purchase!
After taxes? Best deal I saw was 16/1tb at $1500 before tax.
Better buy M1 Pro or M2 Pro macbooks for that price
A factor is future proofing so M1 is not an option. Pro 14 is just too small coming from old MBP 15.
you should have waited for the M3, tsk, tsk!! haha
@@latinreuben I picked it up open box from bestbuy! Perfect condition with only 2 battery cycles. Based off the time left to purchase AppleCare, I estimated the previous owner purchased it 15 days before I received it.
I think that searching for deals the month before a new product launch is meta. All of these MacBooks are so powerful nowadays the incremental upgrades aren’t worth it to me. Would rather save the $$$ and have a beautiful new laptop
Change #6: TWO external monitors are now supported 👏👏👏finally, it is no longer a PRO luxury.
Do we know if it supports two monitors with the laptop open? (So three screens)
go with Snapdragon X Elite Laptop
But you have to close the MBA to be able to use a second external monitor.
What about the basic MacBook M3? Does it support two external monitors?
@@Terence993
@@Terence993 Yeah it's a very weird limitation, I guess they don't want you to be fully pro.
Ordered mine today! 13" M3 16GB/512GB in Midnight. Hope the new treatment helps with the fingerprint factor. I traded my M2 Air 8GB/256GB that my job bought for me last year.
other than the price, why did you decide on the 13 vs 15? i am asking coz i have an ancient 2015 mbp 15 that i want to replace
Looking forward to more videos on this MacBook! The only feature I would care about compared to my M1 Air is the dual monitor support, but with my current setup I wouldn't even use it. The M1 from my experience still runs incredibly well for everything I do and apart from the 120Hz display I didn't notice much of a difference when comparing to the more powerful Pros. Definitely sticking with this excellent machine for at least another 2 or so years!
I have bought a basic M3 Macbook Pro and it rocks :) Great notebook 8/512 and in daily use I have a very low memory pressure
Putstanding review. Thks.
Impressive. What are the exact specs of the M1 Max and the M3 that are being compared? (RAM, Storage and CPU/GPU cores)
Idk why you’re much more quiet and chill in this video but I like it 😂
I don't 😂
Came here to say this.
A m3 15 macbook air with 16gb of ram and 512 or 1tb drive will be the only computer most people will need.
and it will cost almost as much as 14 inch M3 Pro 18/512
@@ZaLodowyMurMB Air 16/512 only cost $1499 excluding taxes where as M3 Pro 18/512 will cost 1999
what do you think will be a best buy?
@@idgaf9334But $1,699 for 15 inch model! @frazerweb was talking about 15 inch Air. Take into consideration screen resolution Pro 14 inch has more pixels than Air 15 inch!!!. 14 inch PRO 3024 by 1964; 13 inch AIR 2560-by-1664; 15 inch Air 2880-by-1864.
A 15" Air, 16GB, 512GB is $1,700. The 14" Pro, 16GB, 512GB is occasionally on sale for $1,500, but usually $2,000. Unless you really need that extra inch of screen, it seems insane to buy any Air except the base model.
Will like to seek your advice in whether I should buy m3 macbook air 13.6 inch or ipad pro 13 inch of use or watching tennis, badminton and occasional reading financial report n daily emails. Thks
Max! It‘s time to stand up!! (Also, nice little upgrade 😊)
These new M3 MBA’s just pummeled the M3 MBP by offering support for two 5k monitors in clam shell mode vs 1- 6k for the MBP.
The MB Pro 14 M3 is getting a firmware update to support two display modes when the laptop is closed.
Would it be good enough to edit 4k mirrorless files and some after effects?
Thanks for the review - I bought a 15” and trading in my M1 MBA. What sold me was the dual monitor support
Unfortunately the lack of fan:-
1. Thermal Throttles
2. Damages Battery Health
3. Makes the laptop body very hot.
I use the air 8gb ram 512gb ssd and trust me even screen sharing gets it hot enough, my battery health has declined to 84% despite using it well whereas the MacBook Pro Touch Bar has 98% battery due to fan in it . I use them side by side
Thank you. I was thinking about getting an Air instead of the Pro. I don't really need that much power, but I do need to use my laptop on my lap, not on a desk.
@@NjanVishnu wait! It gets that hot only when screen share mic camera on and some browser tabs not at all in light normal usage
I use screen share all day. + Docker + 20 to 30 Chrome tabs , CZcams a lot . VS Code, light Photoshop, screen flow etc. Currently using M1 Mini and a 15 Inch MacBook Pro. I am going to replace 15 inch pro soon because it's from Mid 2014 (16G Ram + 2G GT750M).. now using OCLP working fine but too old.
I need your buyers guide ASAP. Should I buy 500 gb SSD because 250 is slow? I should choose 16gb ram right? Which charger is better, regular small one or large faster one? Thanks!!
If you get 1 TB with 24 GB unified ram you'll be good for at least 4 years. If you get 512GB with 16 gigabytes of unified RAM, you'll be good for 2 or 3 years. Don't even consider 256 GB with 8 gb of RAM.
If you can only upgrade either option, upgrade the ram to 16GB. I think the ssd slowdown only occurs to M2 series.
please consider comparing realworld usage test results with [m1 pro] chip if u guys plan to do a m3 mba test! given the fact that m1 pro now looks like a great deal for regular consumers who needs that extra thunderbolt port and multiple external displays support, it’ll be super helpful to have the result numbers for purchasing decision.😊 thanks for the hardwork!
What about NAND chip? Is it will be 1 or 2 NAND chip inside the new macbook air?
Just ordered mine, will be here on the 8th! 🥳
Just noticed on the Apple site the M3 Macbook Air can be ordered today and will be available March 8.
I still think M3 may have some thermal issues on the MacBook Air, not to mention if Apple would place it also in the future iPad ....
That would make me wanna keep MBA M2.
Just ordered M3 MBA 15" here
Just pre-ordered mine. Now I just need to sell my base model M1 MacBook Air, which is gonna be difficult seeing as the only social media I use is CZcams.
Hello Max, Do you recommend a new 2024 M3 MacBook Air or a 2021 M1 Pro 14-inch Macbook Pro refurbished? They are the same price.
It depends if you need the extra Thunderbolt ports, the mini LED display, or better speakers. If that isn't a huge deal, and you can get a 16GB M3 spec then I would get the M3 Air (likely 15" version) because of how thin and light it is. It's a big noticeable difference.
Casual user here, got the 16gb but 256gb storage. Am I going to regret that? I do use iCloud storage
how was m2 disappointing? I never had an issue with that, autonomy and speed were great
I have the same question as well lol
Exactly! M2 has run flawless all year round. I am hearing this for the first time lol
its disappointing if you came from m1. hotter, worse battery, nerfed ssd, all for marginal performance gains
@@KhanhDinh291 Actually, that all proved fake, and the M2 was a better upgrade than the usual people claimed.
Reviewers should help Apple to sell new Macbooks 😂
Can you guys confirm a potentially huge difference? Macbook Air M2 and prior only supported 1 native external monitor. But MBA M3 is rumored to support 2 native external monitors?
Finally an upgrade I'd consider for M1 Air. But I've got a maxed out M1, and don't "need" the increased CPU power right now. I wonder what comes next? 😁
How does the m3 (no pro) compare to the m1 pro?
Does the M3 Scratching/ fingerprint easily ? the M2 Air was horrible with scratching/fingerprints????
AV1 decode is nice. Unfortunately it looks like we'll be waiting until M4 for AV1 encode.
Do the M3 MacBook models have the same slowdowns as M2 for SSD 512G or smaller?
Nope. That issue isn't present. It was only there due to a chip shortage for SSD. Not an issue with this iteration. Add on boost to the single core performance.
i had the same question!
how do you see the wifi speed? I can't figure the settings out
noone mentioned that now you get the GPU 10c upgrade included automatically if you choose a 16 GB model, so basically a free upgrade :)
ahhh i just noticed that thanks for mentioning!
Would love to see a video conparing the M3 air to the new XPS 14!!
I’m confused. I thought the only difference between WiFi 6 and 6E was the possibility to use the 6 GHz frequency band.
why can m3 only do 2 external monitor with lid closed ?
I still using Macbook Pro 2011 with Open Core.. lol.
Definitely upgrade this time to Macbook Air M3
For someone that’s never owned a Mac but has been a long-time iPhone user and wants to use it hand-in-hand, does having one of the higher-end phones such in the case of having an iPhone 15 Pro Max with 1 TB necessarily mean that one should pair it with a Mac of similar specs to take full advantage of the CPU? I don’t think I’ll necessarily need the Mac Pro and I was actually thinking about jumping on the base model of the MacBook Air.
That is so fast for the video 😂
Should I get m2 or spend extra 125usd after all discounts and get m3?
No video editing or heavy usage.
Will the 256gb on m2 be a problem since it's 1 instead of 2 128gb storages?
Someone pls help.
Battery life on the 13 inch should be increasing by hours if they don’t decrease the size of the battery that is
I was hoping for a higher refresh screen.. not that it's a huge deal.. but woulda been nice.
I think you forgot to to tell that it supports now 2 external displays in clamshell mode 😊
I learn way more about Apple from you than I do from Apple. Keep these educational videos coming and THANKS
Does the base model still have single nand chip for the ssd like the M2?
probably 2, because 512 gigs is the minimum now
but the tests will show
Question I’ve got is the new 15” M3 Air worth it over the 14” M3 pro MBP? The 15” with 16/1tb is $1900 vs the 14” with 18/512 is $2000. It’s on sale now for $1800. Using for coding and some gaming.
Would the 15” M3 Air be worth buying over the 14” M3 with the pro chip for these reasons?
Does anyone have the 15” M2 Air? How was it for some gaming? Did it get warm or slow down because of throttling?
The MacBook Pro would definitely be better tbh
@@thatkid.b1480 Thanks.
Buy Air if lighter weight is critical for you. Otherwise purchase 14 inch MBP . They have better screen like color accuracy, 120Hz. Active cooling system, more powerful CPU and etc
The MacBook Air m3 just pop out now 😂😂
Actually I use my Macbook to game lol
It's not that "I want to game therefore I bought a mac" situation, but "my job requires a mac, but I still want to game on the weekends" kind of situation, so gaming performance is a good benchmark.
Iam looking for to buy or a new iPad Pro, or the new MacBook Air m3.
What are you doing in your front yard with your laptop😂
Wish they'd bring back the wedge design of the earlier Air, but update it with a slimmer bezel. The new design looks generic and feels a little bit cheap. Actually, I wish they'd reboot the 12-inch with Apple silicon and less bezel. That would be an incredible machine. For my money, in physical design terms the 12 inch was the nicest MacBook ever. The 13-inch M1 Air isn't quite as nicely engineered, though it's still nicer than the M2 model.
You did not even mention the M3 being able to use two displays with the lid closed….
The best MacBook Air ever! Thanks of sharing.
How will it survive the heat from the M3 chip without melting down
If you watched the video or had any knowledge of these chips, the M3 doesn’t get as hot as M2. It’ll be fine.
Wait for M3 real world test.
"I pay for 1,200 mb but i;m Only getting 600 on my wifi". ... let me pull out my violin bro
while I make due with my 65mb speeds... just messin with ya! envious for sure
He’s never heard of thunderbolt/ Ethernet connections at 10 GIGAbit speeds
can i use this mac airbook m3 for the 3D !?
Maybe. Try and see. Apple gives a 14-day, no questions asked refund.
You have a mistake in the title. Correct is "0 big changes"!😂
True
And by your logic:
0 = Faster CPU
3nm more efficient, less energy consumption and less heat and longer battery.
Better GPU + HW RayTracing + shaders, etc
WiFi 6E
2 external monitor support.
Faster storage and probably RAM.
Anti reflecting coating on the midnight blue.
Because you want a facelift on the outside or you won’t recognize the techy upgrades!
Makes sense 👍
@@fmax6000yeah these are completely huge upgrades after TWO YEARS from m2 macbook lmao (not)
16GB base configuration now exists.
This is very helpful for the UK market. When they ultimately have reductions there's never any with RAM upgrades here. Now yes, I might wait for the £1500 16/512 to be reduced to £1350.
Still 8gb, 256gb… Lenovo yoga 7 slim 2024 offered 32gb and 1tb storage for the same price.
I’m starting to get convinced that the AIRs will never get enough RAM to be usable for a developer, because if that were the case developers would buy them instead of the PROs.
The gaming aspect might come into focus as time progresses. We see Apple taking steps to this direction. So taking this into account is also quite a valid argument, imo, especially when you want to have an all in one machine that is future proof
- Update to Wi-Fi 6E for faster internet speeds even with older routers
- Utilize CleanMyMac X for optimizing base model MacBook Air performance
- Expect improved storage speeds with base storage upgrades
- Consider the significant CPU performance boost with M3 series for demanding tasks
- Explore the enhanced graphics technology for better compute performance and efficiency
- Benefit from longer battery life and better efficiency with M3 MacBook Air
Wish they would turn the AIR into a 2 in 1
Let me guess - still slow 256 SSD, 60Hz screen and 8 GB of RAM baseline for monster of the chip? :D
Just order the 512GB/16GB model. Apple now have them in stock so you do not have to configure.
Its an Air. Do tell me why people need more than 60hz screens or a starting 8GB of ram for that type of computing? Oh right, they don't.
will it be too hot that's my concern for the rest it's okay with a good ram it should be good for android developper that I am.
As long as they dont nerf the base storage speed again, I might be interested in upgrading from my 2020 intel air. If they haven't fixed that, I dont care. I am not paying extra for 16gb ram AND extra storage that I wont even use, just so I'm not getting slow speeds.
When all your showing is just a chip upgrade and a newer WiFi version it shows how negligible this update is.
God, I may have to return my M2 I got in Dec '23 for the M3. (Old laptop died, couldn't go without one)
Can you do that?
I am not sure. I have heard people state Apple's return policy is friendly. The dual display support is cool except the book has to be closed which is not very appealing to me personally. I thought it was like the Pro version in terms of the displaying.@@Jedichikin
With Best Buy membership plus, they give u 60 return policy. Costco has 90 return policy.
i am a student in 10th class and i bought macbook air m2 base variant just for my entertainment purpose and to do coding in it i have run multiple tabs in it and it works just effortlessly. so as far a student is concerned the m1 air or the m2 air is much better to get at a lower price after the launch of the macbook air m3
Lol ,you changed title from “Leak” to “Finally here”
You have to wonder if Apple continuing to use 8GB in the base models is holding back MacOS and/or 3rd Party Developers on innovation in applications. Since people are willing to pay the Apple Tax for devices that can last up to 10 years, this is a concern, IMHO.
...aaand it will cost an extra grand for the base model with only 4gb memory.
Where did the OG M1 go??😢
Battery life is such a lie, my M1 MBA only lasts 3-4 hours since it was new, regular use with standard apps, no extra apps installed. And only one app running. The M1 MBA was said to last up to 16 hours. Apple support said everything is ok, they refused to give me my money back.
