Excellent. A totally new series to me. I live in South Africa, and there was much British TV that we did not see in the in the 70s for various reasons, one of which is the fact that TV broadcasts only started here in 1075, and then the broadcasting hours were somewhat truncated. Full-time TV started in 1976,
British comedy is unsurpassed. I've just watch all 8 episodes of season. Roll on season 2!

Me too Corky, if only my generation had a better overview I would have, I did consider it but bailed, I left school in '86 without a clue what I wanted to do but I thought somewhere I'd find my feet, I didn't realise a 'permanent job' was already a thing of the past, to think by now I might have some tight friendships with the 'old gang' and perhaps a pension to look forward to, not to mention a few good pics of myself looking all smart and proud for the sideboard, it might just be wishful thinking tho, the way they treat ex-servicemen these days is atrocious, plus I don't relish the ideas of fighting someone elses wars (which was my reasoning back then too), maybe we dodged a bullet, literally lol

I should have said, I volunteered (for the Army) as a 16 1/2 year old in 1978 and completed 22 years colour service. Pperhaps it's ''rosy-coloured spectacles' and all that, but the late 40's and 50's have always seemed to be 'my era'.

This may only be a comedy show but empty pews in a church at Xmas time in 1955 is pretty close to reality as Brits seem to reject the hypocrisy and nonsense of religion even back then. There's hope for Britain yet.
