I'm a fan of animal-influenced guitars especially Gibson's "bird" lineup of acoustics. Even though I don't know a lot about Miranda Lambert, this new Bluebird intrigued me because it is another bird!

The Dove really puts out the sound. An old friend of mine acquired one from an estate (for $50.00!) and that thing boomed and sounded wonderful.
Wow what a steal. Each to his own but personally I love the Gibson Acoustic sound more than the Martin sound and the Dove is right up there imo
Gibson sound much better to me also, especialy the older ones
@@phil36135 i do have a boutique made equivalent of a Martin OOO that’s beautiful for finger picking but I could never get that beautiful Gibson strumming sound like all of those classic Rolling Stones songs made with Doves, Hummingbirds. After trying several less than impressive new Gibson’s in a shop I came across a second hand 2018 J35 and knew the second I strummed a chord that it was good en.
I love the sound of Gibson acoustics but the Epiphone J200 is pretty good . And also if you can get your hands on an older model Yamaha acoustic you'd be quite amazed with it. I bought a 1969 FJ230 12 string acoustic that is phenomenal in tonal quality. Yamaha actual was fat awhile if the aren't still artificially aging wood to be used in its newer acoustics. There's something about the way they built the old acoustics that if kept in a decent climate that makes them age quite well.
Brilliantly simple cosmetic variation the iconic Hummingbird. Now they come in blue too. Thanks Miranda.
It has a Spruce top, NOT Maple. It has traditional X bracing, they were NOT scalloped, just a normal taper to the edge.
I sold my early 70's Humingbird to get a '76 Guild F50r, never looked back!
4:00, it is a solid Spruce top, not maple.
A totally understandable mistake given typical Les Paul construction.
Such a beautiful instrument, it very much reminds me of the Martin JC-16 KWS, it also has the same color blue top with darker sides and back.
Im glad you caught the maple top, I had to go back because I've never heard of an acoustic with maple sound board. But when I seen the grain on the top I knew it was spruce. Like you said easy mistake.
@@phil36135 Spruce is indeed the traditional wood used for acoustic tops, however there are figured maple, redwood, mahogany, cedar and some others I'm sure.
That said, this acoustic sounded pretty great and I believe its due in part to the traditional woods used. It sounds like how you would expect a big Gibson acoustic to sound.
@@hkguitar1984 I’ve seen a few spalted maple tops on acoustics too.
@@hkguitar1984 Some of the best Stones songs are done on the Gibson acoustics. And Dylan's, of course.
@@phil36135
Taylor has a model in their American Dream line the AD27 that has a flame maple top.
Back in the early 90s I owned a Fender acoustic that was flame maple top, back, and sides. I bought used, and it was no longer in production when I bought it so I’m not sure what years they made. It sounded decent and looked really nice. It had a transparent amber finish.
Not a Maple top. You mistakenly said that in the vid even though you got the spec right as Sitka spruce at the start.
So if Gibson offered an acoustic artist model to Trogly... since his dragon has wings... Would he opt for a Trogly-bird w/ little green, dragon's and a green finish? Inquiring minds have too much room in their brains...
Equal dragon time😅
Where for the demo model?
Three little Trogdors on the pickguard, burninating the countryside 🤣
An acoustic episode once in awhile is a nice change.... thanks for the chill vibe after a long day.
That's one of the better sounding Gibson acoustics. Apparently I have to learn Drive now
Nice guitar looks good in bluebird finish 👍
A bird I’m waiting for Gibson to come out with is the Flamingo. Everyone needs a pink guitar!
wow Austin I thought you did great on the play demo! Nice Guitar.
the pickguard is my favorite detail, the blue lines look great on the tortoise shell. great video!
Cool looking guitar but Gibson’s pricing is ever ridiculous. For $4.5k there’s master luthiers who will make you a custom acoustic to your specs that will be made with arm contours, cutaways, premiums woods of all types. You’ve got to be a committed Gibson fanboy to stick to these things.
ihavi since thin grown back out me my moostawe'ish "mus·tache" and it curled upon reading your caacaamint
Ok Karen
Beautiful guitar! Love the blue finish and bird theme. Sounds pretty good too even though I'm not as knowledgeable on acoustics.
I seriously love this channel and the job you do to educate us on all kinds of guitars, thanks for what you do.
Sitka spruce top isn't it?
Very sweet tone...❤
Sweetwater has a hummingbird Viper Blue exclusive that is nearly identical if anyone is interested.
Cool.
For $600 more than the Miranda..oof! It's nice, alright...but dang.
@@cataclysmicconverter Yes, what does Sweetwater guitars have quilted maple back and sides. Still a lot of money. I really just don’t know who has that kind of money to spend on these instruments.
The SJ 200 is 6600… I really like the Orianthi SJ 200… And it’s a bargain at 6500. It was really great in that cherry red finish
what a beautiful guitar!might need one
When i began playing i biught an Alvarez copy of a Hummingbird for $50 courtesy of lawn mowing jobs. My elderly neighbor had a 68 Gibson Hummingbird which sounded sso beautiful--- those solid woods really age well over time until 1981 (and beyond). I took my copy to his house and even though it wsnt Gibson Hummingbird quality he really liked it, as they sounded very similar. The previous owner of my Alvarez actually put a tune-o-matic bridge on it!!! Which Im asuming,is what caused the top to crack. But still i loved her and played her every day. Great video Trog🎸👍🎸
Beautiful tone all by itself. 👍🎸🎸🎸🎸
Miranda Lambert was married to Blake Shelton. and she had some collaboration with the Dixie Chicks. she's a pretty well known country music musician. so it would make sense that she would have a signature model.
I do like it. It would have been nice to see a little creativity at the Headstock, perhaps the Texas state flower inlay or a bluebird using abalone and M.O.P. And/or a bluebird at the truss rod cover or Bluebird in script like they do with the Hummingbird. I did notice several finish blemishes at neck joint where finger board joins body near sound hole as well as bass side end of bridge and at the binding edge on top of guitar. Just seemed a little careless for a 4649.00 price tag. I will say it sounded wonderful. Thanks Trogly! Do more Gibson acoustic segments please.
Very nice indeed, beautiful guitar.
Definitely buying one of these!
Thinking of picking up one of these , but coming from fultime electric user I really need a cutaway , whats a good equivilant sound but with a cutaway gibson ?
It would be cool if it had a matching strap😅 it looks very well made. It reminds me of the mad bluebird picture, it is a fierce acoustic
Is it traditional for Gibson to do the fretboard binding before they finish the top/body painting? I can never understand how these things get out of the factory with such shoddy paint at the fretboard to body joint 6:50 - 6:56. It’s like a $300 paint job from toddler woodshop class.
Nice sound from the electronics
Is that glue at the corner of the bridge. I would have thought someone might have caught that as much as it costs. It does sound good.
Hey trog it's either maple or spruce top what are we dealing with? Thanks
Figuring in spruce or cedar is called "bear claw". Not of fan of strap buttons drilled into acoustic necks, so it's nice they give you the option.
What's funny to me about this, is by pure coincidence, back in March of this year (2023) I commissioned a custom pickguard for my Framus Texan, that was Dove shaped, but featured a mother of pearl mockingbird inlaid against a field of hand painted bluebonnets, which I thought was perfect since I'm from Texas (a town less than 2 hours from where Miranda is from in fact) and the model was called a Texan. I call the guitar my Mockingbird acoustic ha ha.
I got non custom shop acoustic, from Original line, 2023, and it has exactly the same case, just brown.
And it has spruce top; not maple as mentioned in a video
"Gloss" cases are back, they are discontinuing the matt ones because some spots get buffed by the box before it gets to the final client, it's not limited to this guitar, seen some "regular" acoustics with this case and it's comming to electrics too.
Told you about the posilok comming back already, also stay alert for murphy acoustics (Gueikian already teased one), funky colors and some sound producing devices ;)
Nice looking guitar. Also nice to see an acoustic every now and then. Can you do the Elvis Presley Dove Signature? I know you did a Custom Ebony Dove a couple years back, but would be nice to see the EP Dove. I have one but would like if you documented one.
Sounds great!
Nice acoustic. The color reminded me of my first guitar which was a cheap $70 blue johnson acoustic
I like gibson acoustic guitars so much
Beautiful color.
That's a very good sounding guitar!
I appreciate all you do Austin. But if I’m not mistaken, your demo only includes the LR Baggs pickup (which is great) but ignores the acoustic sound.
That may be fine for live performance, but most recording professionals will record both the sound of the pickup and a good mic. I usually blend the two. Such a demo would be more useful for a lot of people.
Well yeah you make a good point since the pick up sound has no bearing on the actual acoustics of the guitar. I hate that pick up digital sound. I believe the first bit was just acoustic
Trolly that pick up sounded bloody awful but the acoustic bit sounded great
For anyone that wants to hear what a great acoustic should sound like just properly mic'd and no piezo popping away I highly recommend giving CSN&Y's "4 Way Street" a listen. (not the electric half of the record obviously) I believe they're all playing pre war Martins and absolutely heavenly. Or give Doc Watson's first album from 1964 a listen.
@@cataclysmicconverter I’ve never been able to work out why using mics was replaced those awful pick ups? My
@@andrewbowen6875 I'm guessing for moving around while playing, volume maybe. Not worth the sacrifice IMO, but I'm a purist and a tad eccentric so there's that. (a very fine line) I'm now listening to Doc Watson's debut album from 1964, again only properly mic'd. Whew... This episode has got me shuffling through some of the great acoustic recordings again.
Great video review! Makes me wanna try one and dream of having one!
Woot woot Trogly's guitars 🎸 🙌
I knew a guy {James Warburton of "Warburton" fame} who had a 53' Guild Bluebird which was their version of a Les Paul. Funny that they took the name from a solid body electric to put on an acoustic.
Those are fine guitars!
Sounds good!
Finally something I'm into
It's crafted with a Bluebird tail neck joint.
Fantastic color
There is a Les Paul Raven.
Blue Tuner tips would be awesome
Beautiful guitar lovely tone, should come with a blue case
Incognito😅
I love Gibson acoustics , Im more of a traditionalist yet I like the Bluebird , its not gaudy or too blingy , its, its, its blue...Thanks Trogly !!
Be perfect for bluegrass!
Do ANY acoustics get fret nibs?
Did they stop doing the fret nibs?
Beautiful 😍
I purchased this exact guitar you see here (thanks Trogly's! Great guitar!). This review is spot-on and well-done. To this I would add that the neck profile on this Bluebird feels a little fuller and more comfortable than my 2016 Hummingbird Heritage Cherryburst. The Bluebird is slightly lighter in weight and sounds just a smidge nicer than the Hummingbird (subjective I know!). The mother of pearl inlays have a blue tint that is really attractive. This guitar is a joy to play and is a real work of art. Well done Gibson and nice review here by Trogly's!
Love it
I'm a bit confused: you mentioned that the top of the guitar (soundboard) is Spruce (2 times) and Maple (3 times) and it's hard to tell from the figuring. Is it a ply or solid wood?
I was wondering the exact same thing.
It's solid spruce.
Miranda Lambert "Bluebird"
2019. Number one hit, probably the inspiration for that guitar not the Texas state flower.
….but it does have bluebonnets on the pickguard.
I thought it might be a reference to the Bluebird Cafe, a famous country venue in Nashville, guess not.
@@plenaryverbalist OK sure, and it’s called the bluebird and that’s the name of her number one hit.
And I get two up votes?
Dude, i never comment, but watch all your vids, you have got to do more acoustic, very well done
Hope the pickguard stays glued down better than the one on my Hummingbird.
Very sweet Guitar made on my BDay that’s sweet
actually sounded perty good trog!!
Hey Austin, speaking of cool signatures. Will you be reviewing the the Epiphone Marty Schwartz ES-335? It just dropped today.
Maple top or Spruce? You said both.
spruce - if I said maple, it was strictly out of habit haha
Sitka spruce, very few purely acoustics (which this essentially is) have maple tops
would love to see an episode on a strandberg guitars if you havent done one already...they make some really interesting stuff and have some incredible players who use their guitars. like tory slusher
I have a 1994 Gibson Gospel pretty much the same thing.
I frigging love this. Sadly I don’t think they do a lefty.
Trogly, I have an idea for a tribute Les Paul. Gibson should do a 59 Les Paul in this color with a Phoenix pickguard with mother of pearl Phoenix inlays in the fretboard and call it the Gary Rossington tribute freebird Les Paul
Do it Trogly!
I kind of expect a $4,600 guitar to be flawless... just sayin... I saw imperfections around the bridge, the neck and the nut. Does the logo on the headstock give it a pass?
Started cackling when I saw the handwriting on the COA… 😂
Honestly some of your best tone. 😅
A great investment might be the TC Electronics BodyRez pedal, really helps a piezo pickup shine to it’s full potential.
They should have put a better (non-piezo) pickup system in it.
Was wondering how much you're selling the Miranda Lambert guitar for? Didn't see it in your shop as yet?
Is this an acoustic electric too? Is there not a pickup?
We wanna hear the Trogly's Guitar Show theme on the acoustic!
Miranda Lambert has got something there. Nice guitar.
Do they still have the Bluebird Cafe
They should offer both a Hummingbird and a Dove as a Blue Bird. By the way ROCK or NOT DEFINITELY ROCK
The famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville is definitely still alive and kickin'.
@@cataclysmicconverter I think Taylor Swift performed there among others.
@@TM-ev2tc That's the beauty of that place. You never know who will just drop in, from the some of the old Opry legends to the new artists and do impromptu sessions.
I wish they made a cut-away dreadnought version of these
I like it.
I like it 😊
There’s a blue bird 🐦 on Trogly’s shoulder.🎼🎸
4:12.. think that Spruce.. not maple :)
Sweet
Bird bird bird, bird is the Word-Peter Griffin
Kind of disappointed to learn there was a Firebird acoustic that did not have the same body shape the way that Dean's (RIP) acoustic flying V did.
Beautiful rosette covered by a pick guard, one of the little finicky things that put me off my j45
Sounds expensive looks beautiful ❤😊
At a minimum the interior of the case should have been blue! But a beautiful piece!
Looks and sounds good, but I'll take a Guild D-55.
Sounds amazing as I thought it would. Outta my price range but very nice guitar.
a beautiful looking and sounding guitar. I need a new 6 string but this is too rich for my blood...probably get an Epiphone Hummingbird.
I have the dove in flights translucent blue.
Those Doves in flight are my dream guitar. Know some folk do have an issue with the richlite fingerboard though on those Doves in flight
The Hummingbird has long been my favorite acoustic guitar. This Bluebird model not only has a lot of what makes a Hummingbird special, it has a great looking finish as well. I just wish they weren't almost 5 grand. Miranda should request an Epiphone version for poor people like me to enjoy.
If it was ever built without the Miranda Lambert sticker attached to it, with the premium be removed along with it?
Considering the Sweetwater Viper model blue acoustic is $5299, I doubt it! And, those are backordered so someone's buying them up.
Not to be confused with a selfie stick
Evening all!!!
Maple top ?? I believe it's spruce
