  • Gibson's Hummingbird Original, late 2020 production. Beautiful guitar with the right sound... I like it a lot, and I'm usually not that excited about Hummingbirds.

Yeah, same. I bought one in 2012, but fell on tough times and had to move country, so I ended up selling it in 2019. 🙁
I'm planning on taking a trip to the USA or UK next year to replace it (Gibsons are hard to come by where I live). I just hope that this particular model is still in circulation in 2024. I don't want them to do any drastic changes on the next reissue of the Hummingbird. This is just how I like them. It has that same beautiful finish as my old one; I don't like the natural ones or the overly red or tobacco versions. It also has the vintage tuners with the gold hardware, which look so good against the finish. I swapped out the chunky, chrome Grover tuners on my Hummingbird to these. Personally, I think a Gibson headstock looks way better with vintage tuners.👌🏻
Haha, the only problem is that I have been watching a ton of Martin guitar videos recently as well, so I also have my eyes set on either a D-18 or D-28. I'm going to have to try them all out and really think about what I want. Do I replace something that I loved and lost (Gibson), or do I get something new (Martin)? 🤷🏻‍♂

A good one is a strummers delight. they have this special presence to them. Not as direct as a J45 and sometimes that's a really good thing. The Hummingbird vintages are stellar. I love how even the tone is up the fret board and with open neck chords.

Sweet! I've never been a huge Hummingbird fan and I fully expected to be unimpressed, but I have to admit...the guitar sounded really nice. Full. Balanced. Nice highs and bottom end. @@jimmy5634 Absolutely. And might as well toss in the venerable J-45 and the monstrous J-200 as well. All iconic sounds in their own right. I just feel that in some ways the Hummingbird, while beautiful, was a bit more show and less go. But that's just me. (And I'll just add that for a long time I felt that Martins were somewhat overrated. But the older I get the more I appreciate what they bring to the table.)
