    Enjoy the videos man, I just picked up a new red 2020 a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately due to a licensing loophole I technically can't ride it yet, but loving it so far. Also my first bike with a manual transmission so still getting the hang of that. I will be doing some electrical mods in the future, I like your relay and voltage monitoring set up.

      @OregonMotorcycle  Před 4 lety

      Chris Watkins thank you. Congrats on your new ride. Is the license hang up for you or the bike? I still haven’t got my proper registration for mine🤣. The cops around here could care less about MC tags though.

    • @nekkar8688
      @nekkar8688 Před 4 lety

      Oregon Motorcycle thanks! I’ve been riding a 400cc scooter the past year. Since I did my final road test on the scooter my MC license was restricted to bikes with an automatic transmission and “step through design”. I must pass another road test on a manual bike to get rid of the restriction, but I technically can’t ride one to practice or do the test. So I need a supervisor at the ICBC (Insurance Corp of British Columbia) to revert my license back a step. Then I will be able to ride the X during daylight and without a passenger until I do the road test. I just have to wait until the offices are open to the public again. =P. I believe they are a lot more strict about licensing and registration up here compared to Oregon. I was able to get insurance and plates, but if I get pulled over or in an accident I’m basically screwed. It would be nice to get the scooter sold but I’m keeping it to commute to work until I can take the X.

    Nice video but I have to say I would be very skeptical to mount extra lights on the moving part of the forklegs. It will be a massive challenge for the lights with all that shaking and I guess the light also will seem to vibrate when moving over bumpy roads. I think a light bar (as sold by Givi) is a better solution.

    • @OregonMotorcycle
      @OregonMotorcycle  Před 4 lety +1

      Might be, but I noticed zero vibration and I rode over some bumpy roads. My main concern is the brackets holding up. These lights are little, and weigh nothing. The mounts are stainless steel so I should be ok. I’m getting crash bars next and might end up putting these on the crash bars along with another set. We’ll see how they work out in the long run;)

    • @OregonMotorcycle
      @OregonMotorcycle  Před 4 lety

      No way;). The bike is geared perfect from the factory. You’ll only decrease the overall performance of the bike by putting a 16 on it.

    • @OregonMotorcycle
      @OregonMotorcycle  Před 4 lety

      John Crittenden it decreases the top speed and lugs the motor more at high way cruising speeds which lowers your fuel mileage. On top of that you loose your low end in first gear for technical off roading. The engineers at Honda did an excellent job gearing this bike based on horsepower and weight. The 16 tooth is popular amongst people who cant control the throttle at low speeds in first gear.

  • @moskito5864
    @moskito5864 Před 3 lety +1

    I dont like the extra switch. Its may be ok on roads with no cars or traffic but if you have to switch it off and on constantly it would be better closer to the handguards. The best solution would be to connect it directly to the High-Beam which i just did again on my CRF250L ... problem i heard is the CB does not have enough power to do so and the wires will start burning :/
    My CRF250L had a 54W lightbulb as Headlight before. I changed it into an 18W and installed 2x18W AuxLights which gives me again 54W so no problemo at all. Wonder why HONDA does not provide a better and easier solution to install AuxLights, i dont know anyone with a CB500X doesnt want extra lights ;)
    nice video, thx for sharing, a bit more about the Electric Connection would be nice next time.

    • @OregonMotorcycle
      @OregonMotorcycle  Před 3 lety +1

      The relay is what you need. Otherwise the switch carries the load. Has nothing to do with wires, it’s the switch. Install a relay and you can use any switch you like as there will be no load on the switch.
      The switch I installed eventually quit working and I just jumped it so they are always on.
