  • The "Chamber Orchestra" project returns with a recording of "Griffons Never Die" by Naoshi Mizuta from the Final Fantasy XI Soundtrack. This is a transcription for Chamber Orchestra of the Piano Collections arrangement for the aforementioned game. Of arrangements from the FFXI PC, this one was one of few which stuck out as a perfectly simple and beautiful arrangement. I changed the key to make it more string friendly and take advantage of some pedal tone open C strings in the Cello. Special thanks to an unnamed good friend for loaning me 4 different Violins to use within the First and Second Violin sections to better create a believable "section" sound.
The goal of this project is to create a recording by using a very small amount of people in a small setting yet make the end product sound like a professional Orchestra was recorded on a live stage. Only panning and reverb have been used to create this effect (along with multiple instruments). Close your eyes or turn away and listen! Let me know if I have believably "faked" the effect of many live musicians!
Sorry about the Violin part that blacks out near the end - I ran out of memory on the recording device and forgot to re-record.
    I hope you enjoy!
    Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola - icosa20
    Cello - heptadragon

I have never heard of only a Violin version of this. It is nothing short of amazing. I have wanted to hear a version of this for so long, great job. Maybe in the future (i haven't looked at your videos in their entirety yet) a Twilight over Thanalan can be done as well, from FFXIV. Another amazing song.

OMG I'm so moved to tears!! This is so awesome!! Indeed FFXI music is so timeless, so full of emotions, and I have so many good memories of the game associated, that's why almost always start weeping when listening to these arrangements. Excellent job !! Thanks so much!!

Upon closing my eyes and turning away, it really does sound like a Chamber Orchestra! Really impressive for only two musicians to do that :)

Naoshi Mizuta's music for 11 is some of the most subtly textured, refined and multi-layered music in the whole series.
Perhaps suited to the tastes of a more mature audience (most of whom would be in their late 20s/30s around the time Wings of the Goddess was released).

This theme and Rongelouts N Distaud got me to convert from Bastok in the present to Sandy in the past

The sections do sound pretty believable, congrats. How did you do it? Have you considered using stereo concert hall IRs?
