it is always good to learn how to use a product before you demonstrate it to the entire world.
The one thing that a lot of people don’t bring up: Roland has finally got their pitch tracking worked out. Seems like they perfected it on the GM-800. Huge improvement over their last 15 years of guitar synths.
Absolutely true - I made the jump from a GI20 and the advancement feels really huge, especially with the low frequency cut parameter and the improved sensitivity adjustment.
I have an SY-300 and an SY-1000, and both track perfectly - because they are digital signal processors, not pitch to MIDI converters. There is no latency, same as there is no latency in a digital phaser.
It was time. Fishman Triple Play has been doing better for a while now.
A great tool for those who are good at Guitar and want to make music on synth but cant since they dont know how to play keys and any other instrument other than guitar, like me.
Enjoyable video thanks. How are you connecting this to your DAW? Will it record only as audio or can it write midi to the daw also to enable quantize etc? Cheers👍
It's not a stereo cable. It a specially shielded serial data transmission cable. It sends a digital signal from the GK-5 to the GM-800
Can you use band n a box with GM 800.
Como se resuelve la latencia y notas fantasma ? Gracias, pues tuve que perder dinero con boss gm 800 ,,devovi a tienda tavez me engañaron con sparato defectuoso?? y tuve que comprar boss sy 1000.
why can't you pass guitar thru? Do I really have to use 2 cables?
Hi, I use wireless Tripleplay of Fishman. I think it is one of the best tracking device. Have you you used it. Can you compare with GM-800? Thanks for this video!
We agree, the Fishman system works very well.
As for the GM800 demonstration, it would be better to do it with sounds that show the real latency of the system. And then also, stop playing piano sounds with bend tracking. This is true for other sounds. You must use chromatic or bend mode depending on the instruments played to be more credible. In the same way, we don't try to quickly play a sound that has a long attack time or with a lot of sustain.
Amazing approach of a new product! Very useful. Please, could you say something about latency on GM800? Thanks
i just got mine today with the gk5. my first guitar synth. i have had no issues with latency or lag on any of the presets
Did you watch the video?
@@namreg944 thanks! Very nice from sharing your experience
@@Virtual-Media Be happy 😉😘

It's not a "normal" trs cable!!...it's a special cable for that unit!!...best test for tracking is piano!!...
A car crash?
Sorry just another toy by Roland. I've been waiting since the 70's for a box with REAL sampled vst sounds that can be triggered by midi WITHOUT going to a PC dealing with the load times for live performance. Come on Roland, outside of just a few sounds like the B3 and piano, where is this stuff at? Put it out there. You guys are great with effects, but the asteroid space sounds are completely unusable.
They can do it but i think they deliberately stall it for these toys. Midi Guitar 2 (Mac/iOS/PC application) already can do this. It's much cheaper and can do more less the same job. Just my 2 cents.
I can't understand why Roland Cloud doesn't start offering guitar and vdrum software. They could sell a USB GK5, and get a ton of subscribers. With that said, they could actually build a proper VA box for the guitar using the same plugout.
I really don't understand how people don't understand why this is physically impossible. Do you not see that there is a pickup that is needed for six individual signals? Do you not understand that this multiplies the processing power You need to create real translation by up to six times? I don't get how people still don't get it. Guitar synthesizers will always be behind real synthesizers. For all of human history they will always be behind. That being said these are real VST sounds. Show me a guitar synthesizer that produces real VST sounds without a computer? I'll go ahead and wait...
these sounds are meh! hopefully the sounds off their cloud system are more interesting.
I have the Roland Cloud synths. There’s some really great sounds in there, plus a lot of fluff. It’s really up to what you program. It’s really deep.
Listen to the GM-800 electric pianos & organs, they alone make it worthwhile.
Download the tone list and you will probably be pleasantly surprised. There are over 1000 tones available.
