  • Sean Fairchild puts the BOSS GM800 through its paces, and then sums it up nicely:
"There’s no question that for the melodically minded among us; those brave musical mavens that enjoy sound design or are simply inspired by new and exciting timbral offerings, the GM-800 and GK-5B could be the source of endless exploration and expression. It may not immediately be focused as a “bass synth”, but ...for any who have the budget and inclination, and especially those who tend to think of themselves as “musicians first; bassists second” (as my very first teacher taught me), this new platform from BOSS is among the most powerful and unique available and comes highly recommended by this reviewer. Go forth and make interesting music!

Nice video! I have the Boss GT-1B. I might have to consider this as well.

Great video. This would have been a godsend in the early 80s. Provided you had the chops to do so, you could have played the bass line, converted it to MIDI as you did, then doubled it by sending the MIDI out to your favorite synth. Voila! I'm sure that would have saved a considerable amount of time. ... Back to the present, it would be fun to hear what doubling the bass guitar with a deep sine wave patch would sound like.
