I graduated from U of Illinois in1990. The increased security throughout the profession is huge and probably a sizable hurdle for aspiring job shadowers. I worked for a year in a 4 doctor AAHA practice in Chicago after undergraduate school and before applying to vet school. At that time the techs learned by doing under the supervision of other techs and over time I was entrusted with anesthetizing animals for surgery, cleaning teeth, drawing blood and taking X-rays . It was a fantastic experience and really helped round out the pretty sparse practical experience which vet school provided. Shortly after I went through the vet school joined forces with the local humane society which was a genius move I’m surprised no one had thought of sooner.
Loved this video! I’m currently an Ag/Animal Science major at Prairie View University & plan on going to vet school as well! This gives me a good idea of what it’ll be like 💗

Oh cool im going into my 2 year vet student in Trinidad....really nice to see ur perspective as we cant record our vet life in school.....I really like large animals small ruminants ,aqautics and avian......i love horses.
@@BrittneyKilgore yea for me since most people like dog and cats its satuarated so i choose what plenty vets here wont be interested in as much....plus one day i want a huge farm....the only thing is Trinidad n Tobago does not have a huge practical area for large animals.....

The kittens are adorable you are doing a great job as foster mommy and Kayla too. I hate cooking I should hire you as a chef if you need a side job lol.

No. Unfortunately in Grenada, Americans can't work without a work visa and we don't have visas as students. Also, generally in med/vet school there's no time to work. You're often in class from 8am to 5pm. And when you aren't in class you're studying. Even if we were state side, most people don't work. You live off of loans unfortunately

Yeah I can only show certain things. I like small ruminants too! But not so much large lol

Yes! We get a doctorate of vet med. We learn the same thing as human doctors too :)
