  • My Journey to Islam [Part 2/3] - My Turning Points
    I know in my heart that I want to accept Islam but I am hesitant.
    What is stopping me and how am I to over come this?
    As I move on from seeking validation to preparing my loved ones of my reversion to Islam, are they or arent they supportive?
    Following this there will be a part 3, so keep a look out but for now please enjoy this and dont forget to share this video if you feel this might help someone in their journey.

    Salaam Sister...I am a Brisbane revert (ex-Anglican) and have been Muslim for over 30 years. At the time of my reversion I heard it all...”you’re brainwashed”...”its just a faze”...”you don’t know what you’re getting in to”...The best teacher for the nay-sayers is YOU..be consistent in your practise and the negativity will melt away. I lost every friend I had...but the family eventually came around...Alhamdulillah

      SAMMMME ! I was bron muslim and i don't know i'm slacking so much and i see my converted friends that are doing so good and are happy. I feel sometimes unhappy and weirdly after sometimes i started to think may be because i don't know who i am. I just bought a holy book again and i will start to read. I used to pray etc do good and what made me feels good when i was doing is having a meaning in my life that is more than juste AH i need to pass this exam etc... And a routine aswell: was waking up at better hours sleeping also, i was eating at the same time everyday i was HEALTHY. So i would say not only it helps inside your spirit but also your body! I hope i get better step by step i hope Allah gives you what you need !

      Isaiah 9:2,6 KJV. THE PROPHECY CENTURIES BEFORE HIS BIRTH
      The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. [6] For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
      Isaiah 9:7 KJV
      Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end.
      Matthew 1:23 KJV

      John 1:1-5 KJV
      In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men
      John 1:10-12,14 KJV
      He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. [11] He came unto his own, and his own received him not. [12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
      John 6:35 KJV
      And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
      John 6:48 KJV

      This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
      John 6:51 KJV
      I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
      John 6:53 KJV
      Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you

      Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life
      John 10:7 KJV
      Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
      John 10:9-11 KJV
      I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. [10] The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. [11] I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
      John 11:25-26 KJV
      Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: [26] And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

      Colossians 1:16-19 KJV
      For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: [17] And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Salaam :) Your journey resonates so much with me sis. I’m a born muslim but I can’t stress enough, faith comes in waves. It’s how we grow, understand, build our knowledge. It’s how we appreciate. Little step by little step. Every step even if it’s a little one is such a huge progress in our imaan. That wisdom lays with The Almighty alone but with time you’ll realise just how much it glorifies you, your life, your family. To this day, every time I ride another wave of increasing my knowledge, it changes my life for the better in countless ways. The goosebumps you feel when you realise that The Almighty had your back all along. You my friend are incredibly lucky, your test has led you to discover your imaan via a path that wasn’t necessarily straight forward. You weren’t born a Muslim but my goodness are you an incredible one. And so incredibly lucky, He chose you to take this path. You’ll achieve so much in this life, just wait and see, I hope we’re able to witness it. P.s. listening to Yasmin Mogahed, was a turning point for me. I had knowledge, I knew the requirements of my religion but I can honestly say there was a huge gap in really understanding the why. She opened up my mind to understand our relationship with The Almighty. Who is He and what is our purpose. I recommend her podcasts, she did some in Ramadan a good few years ago but they were just magnificent. You’ll understand when you listen inshaAllah. I don’t know how to explain x

      @onaaap Před 3 lety +3

      @@sarahlaing1688 there’s far too much risk in that. My children deserve to have the best guidance and Islam is that. And the mother is the most important person in a family and the most influential on the kids. She needs to be able to teach them those values. Literally every Christian family we know isn’t religious and her family is decimated from a lack of guidance. Adultery, the parents not caring about the kids or where they go, divorce, not caring about the family unit, alcoholism, is rampant in her family and the Christian culture surrounding her family.
      My family snd all of our friends have none of that and it’s because we properly followed Islam. Leaving the opportunity open for my kids to fall influence to that is not something I can risk.

      @@onaaap Religion has nothing to do with raising your kids properly, there's no reason you can't raise a well grounded child with good values without religion. You can make the choice not to commit adultery etc on your own, no-one needs to read a set of rules in a book to know that it's immoral.
      Ultimately, I just don't think it's fair that it's always the women who have to change their lifestyle and beliefs in this situation.

    • @onaaap
      @onaaap Před 3 lety +4

      @@sarahlaing1688 that’s literally the point of religion though. To give you guidance. You’ll never be perfect but having those values instilled in you and believing in God from a young age (if taught correctly) are proven to keep you from doing harmful behaviors to yourself and others. You focus on community, trying to be better, not doing drugs or alcohol, etc. All those values were derived from religion. Without believing there’s a higher purpose for your behavior, it’s really really likely you start behaving poorly. Even ppl who claim to be atheist derive there benevolent behavior from religion. If there truly was no god you aren’t beholden to any form of behavior, you can do whatever you want. It takes an extraordinary person to not do fall into poor behavior if they believe that and that’s taking a chance. I’ve seen far too many kids not be taught religion correctly and they fall into drug use, alcohol abuse, rampant sex etc. And the more we forget the true teachings of god the more we fall into that as a society.
      And it doesn’t always have to be the woman, I’ve seen the reverse plenty of times. The difference between other religions and Islam is that it is usually more devout, it requires actual change in behavior to become Muslim. Most other modern religions don’t even have you practice. They just convert as a formality.
      She’s free to do what she wants but we’ve talked out the tenets of her religion and mine and how our families and friends have implemented them and even she knows that, in this context, Islam has done a lot more good for us than her religion of lack there of has done for her.

    • @sarahlaing1688
      @sarahlaing1688 Před 3 lety +1

      @@onaaap Religion began in a time before there were advanced societies, it isn't necessary now. If you feel that belonging to a religion gives your life purpose, then that is your choice. However it is not your place to decide what gives other people purpose in their life. If they don't believe in God and just want to enjoy their life and live a hedonistic lifestyle, then that is their choice. The same goes for raising children. You can guide them and raise them with certain values, however what they do as an adult is not the choice of their parents. No one has to follow a religion just because their parent believes in God.
      This lifestyle you don't agree with can obviously produce decent adults, since you are in a relationship with one. To be honest, I just don't think you should have entered a relationship with someone who isn't a Muslim if this is such a problem for you. Religion puts a lot of restriction on a person's life, and is a big ask to give things up for a God they don't believe is real.

    *You are right.*
    *Islam is not all about Hijab and nail polish. There are bigger things to worry about in Islam than nail polish. And then indeed there are also some Muslims who in their ignorance open flood gates of do's and don'ts in Islam on new comers. When you come across such people, put a smile on your face and politely say, I am trying.*
    *Islam prefers the path of mediocracy even if you slowly move your way up years from now. Stay on the path of modesty and mediocracy and NEVER go on any extremes. Islam tests your patience and asks that you try your best within your means, and you always hope for the best, and NEVER be hopeless.*
    *When a person accepts Islam, the Satan starts working on him 24/7 to revert him back into ignorance - and many new Muslims fall for it. You don't wanna be a victim of that.*
    *And the trick is, stay among the company of good modest practicing Muslim sisters to fight against the whispers of Shaitan. A good company is always the best weapon against Satan.*
    *For your personal journey, remember Islam demands action to support your verbal claim of Shahada. It's not just word of mouth, and a red carpet cosmic welcome is awaiting in the heavens.*
    *So you start with very basics and try to do the most important things first. Start with learning basic Salah and start praying the Asar Salah (afternoon Salah) on time. This is the most important one in the daily 5 salahs, and then slowly slowly move your way up. You will be pushed back, there will be setbacks and you will miss prayers; however, the trick is, ask for forgiveness and NEVER give up.*
    *Then pay zakat (Muslim Charity) if you owe any. And finally watch your dietary in-take and stay away from Pork Alcohol, and physically, stay away from Fornication. And if possible dress up with modesty. Revealing clothing simply invites more flies to hog on the sugar.*
    *Be nice and be forgiving to your parents, and anyone else who deserves it (you can't be totally nice to just EVERYONE - indeed there are many scumbags among Muslims too, so watch out). But try to be patient when your faith is tested. Be honest and truthful in your day to day life matters, avoid cheating, lying deceiving etc - THAT'S what Islam is about; LIVING A LIFE OF HONESTY. You probably won't be asked whether you wore nail polish or not before wazzu - but you WILL be questioned on how did you deal with people, and how honest were you with your responsibilities?*
    *So no matter how low it gets, NEVER let Satan succeed and NEVER let the light of Islam leave your heart. Always remain Muslim, no matter what happens.*
    *And hopefully, we will meet our prophet (saw) on the day of judgement with glad tidings. If you feel down, ALWAYS read Surah Ad Duha (Quran chapter 93), it gives peace to hearts.*

    Ma sha Allah and welcome to Islam Sister. Your accounts of your journey to Islam is so touching and very real, which should inspire those who are on the fence so to say, even for Muslims who have been following Islam since birth. The beauty of this is that you sought it yourself and even though Osman may not have been practicing initially, the fact that little things he did stirred the interest in you was Almighty Allah's way of showing you the way. May Allah bless you and your family.
