  • Creating a simple trim accent wall with little mess and simple tools. Upgrade your home with this DIY home decor project anyone can do! I love using PVC lattice for these types of projects because they are super easy to cut with the miter sheers shown in this tutorial. Simple to nail onto the wall and create fun designs with. Paint it out the same color as your wall and you have a high-end finished look!

    I love these type of videos that you're doing. I was thinking of doing something similar on the wall next to my staircase but I'm in the early phases of thinking it through. Watching this video now I have a great start to plan and what kinds of material to use. I love the trash to treasure ones also.

    Love the idea of the lattice instead of one bys. I did an accent wall using 1x3s and although it turned out beautiful, it is a bear to keep clean. Desert living brings a lot of dust😊.

      Yes - the wood is a process with sawdust and having to sand. This is a little more $$ but less hassle. Great for some but not everyone

    Looks great. Only thing I would have done differently was moved that trim below the light switch. Being a few inches lower would not have been an eye sore. But having the trim go "through" the switch, then having the switch grey on top of that, has caused it to be an eye sore. But overall, still looks good.

    Thank you so much for sharing this DIY! I just bought my first home and have been researching how to do a board and batten wall. I have a few questions, hoping you can help! 1) did you nail the trim on any studs? If not is there any risk to that or are the nails not long enough to penetrate through pipes.(my worst fear) 2) did you not caulk the sides?

    How has this held up?as normal paint on plastic tends not to adhere well and easy to peel and chip off

    So you just painted over the light switch with regular paint? Has it stayed painted? I want to change my plates to white but the toggle is beige and I don’t want to change out the whole thing because I’m cheap and lazy!

      I was curious about the paint staying on the plastic trim she uses. Does the pain stay on? I have little kids and they’ll scratch it off if it comes off easy.

    Do you have tips if I don’t want to apply directly to the wall. Like maybe a big piece of wood in the back as the base, applying those wood pieces to it && then cover it with wall paper or paint it, then apply the whole thing to the wall somehow lmaooo would this work ?

      Thank you! Each 8' piece cost right under $5 and I used 6 pieces, so about $30. We also had the sparkle and paint so no cost there but that does need to be factored in for some.

      It was just under $5 per 8' length of lattice and I used 6 pieces, so $30 without the paint/spakle

    First reaction to “miter sheers” was- lame. But wow- that’s 10x easier than cutting material on a saw (probably down the stairs and outside). You’ve changed my mind.
