Cody's closing comments are exactly what has been echoing around my head since Covid started. It haunts me. I'm only 20, but I can already feel the time starting to go faster, and I have not done shit with myself. Sigh
I can relate. I don't know why, but I've felt such existential dread lately. It's like I can feel the clock ticking down. I know I'm young, but I feel like I'm running out of time to be the kind of person I want to be and make my life count. I know we don't have forever and I'm scared that I'm never gonna figure it out
i'm 21, i feel the same way. part of it for me is that i was in college for a while and made friends, now i'm "taking a year off" for many reasons not including grades and all my college friends are either finishing their junior year or graduating. like i know that it's *possible* to live a happy successful life without hitting all those checkboxes of tradition but i feel like it just takes so much longer when i have to make my own blueprints instead of being able to go off pre-existing guides.
i love watching youtube but lately it's difficult to enjoy it because i can't stop comparing myself to the creators i watch, thinking about how i don't have any particular skill or hobby that i'm as dedicated to or talented at. it's hard to feel like i deserve to be relaxing when i know i'm not working as hard as my favorite creators or my peers.

Nah guys your thoughts are like that because of others' and especially society's pressure. We're told to go to high school then to university then to find a job, marry etc. It can be easy to feel bad because you couldn't achieve one of those but fuck that. Each of us is unique and none of us lives the same life as the other one does. And while you say that you ain't done shit I highly doubt that and if we had a more thorough talk I'm sure we could say somethings that we each accomplished. Because to be "successful" can millions of meanings. From the top of my head having a good friend/friends and preserving or even improving that friendship in spite of the years is a achievement. And even if you haven't done shit (according to your words) that's also okay. As long as you can provide for yourself or live in line with your standarts it's all good. While I'm also not on a certain "path" right now I'm happy and that's the most important thing for me. Also we shouldn't forget that we're literally living during a global pandemic and we had lockdowns for a looooong ass time. We were much more restricted than we would've liked. That's also a thing that we can't overlook. Love yourselves and have fun y'all at the end of the day your happiness and health are the most important thing. Other shit can be sorted out
I saw somewhere that time doesn’t really go by faster as we get older, it just seems that way because we stop having new experiences. When we’re younger we have so many firsts that it seems like that time is stretched. But when you get into a routine you brain autopilots a bit. Give yourself new experiences and watch time slow down. Also don’t stress! You’re only 20, I’m 23. We’ve got time.
