- Tylee Ryan was interviewed by Chandler Police Department after her late uncle, Alex Cox, shot and killed her step-father, Charles Vallow, citing self-defense.
The medical examiner ruled Charles' death as a homicide.
In late 2019, Tylee Ryan and her adopted brother, JJ Vallow, went missing. Her mother, Lori Vallow, married a new man, Chad Daybell while the children were no where to be found. In June 2020, Tylee and JJ's bodies were found on Daybell's property in Idaho. Both Lori and Chad were arrested.

So sad, Tylee protected her Mom..... then her Mom did not protect her.
So sad to say her Mom probably saved a few lives. Most 16 year old girls would have been a mess after witnessing what she did. Kyle was as cold and callous as the rest of them.

I'm pausing before I start this to take in how profound this moment is. In the two years since she was murdered, in the just under two years since the search for her and JJ began, we've had only snippets of Tylee.
This is two hours worth of Tylee's far too short life.
This is, almost certainly, the longest segment of her life that any of us will ever see.
The rest lives on only in the memories of her family members and friends.
This will be the one and only time any of us get to "meet" Tylee. Two hours from her life a mere two months before the unthinkable, the unforgivable happened.
This is our only opportunity to know even a speck of who Tylee was. Sobering does not begin to describe this moment.
May her memory live on and may that memory be a force of action that brings to light the many unseen types of abuse and violence against children so that others may someday be saved.

Yeah Tylee seems almost textbook for PTSD. She’s had to learn to control her emotions because it seems Lori of emotional unpredictability. Tylee didn’t know how to act except to “self soothe” thru singing.
Her mom was still saying every is fine with zero emotion after it was exposed what she had done to this girl and the boy. It's horrific. Lori is evil and I am certain she affected this teenagers ability to function and process emotions. Lori is pure evil.

It’s so heartbreaking watching her talk about this experience. She seemed like a genuine loving and sweet girl. It so gut wrenching when she talks about how protective she is of her mom. Little did she know her mom would be the one to betray her. May her and brother Rest In Peace. You’ll always be missed by many ❤️
I think she knew exactly what they were yelling about but it was so crazy that she didn’t even want to repeat it. This poor kid was so scared with all the psychos around her that she had to sleep with a baseball bat and It wasn’t because of Charles either.

I know. Her voice was amazing. Such a beautiful, natural singing voice that you can tell even just by her humming. Wow. She could have been a singer. She could have been an artist. That is what is so sad…is what she could have been! I’m so sorry for her. Breaks my heart into.💔

The saddest part for me is knowing that after this was recorded, she only lived for less than 3 months. You can hear Lori's influence/coaching in her voice with her wording. And how she talks about her mom and uncle...the 2 people who hurt her. Ugh.

She was clearly lying, you can see it in her eyes and her whole face as well when she is answering a question with a lie or with what she was told to say from her mother! the whole story seemed too scripted and I am very surprised the police did not pick up on that. She remembered so much yet didn’t remember what the yelling and fighting was about? That Doesn’t seem plausible.
You can see in her eyes she already disliked her mother or at least when the police officer was telling her that she wanted her and her mother to talk to the victims counsellor you can see hate flash in her eyes and the look on her face is as if to say she’s no victim (about her mum). I just got the feeling she couldn’t stand her mum by then and there’s no wonder.
It’s So sad Tylee seemed like a kind and caring soul.

@@kadobi189 Lori's bedroom and the mirrored "dance" room share a wall. One step out of the bedroom is the garage door on the right. Another step straight ahead is the "dance" room (what normal people would have as a living room). Standing in the bedroom Tylee would have seen Charles.
Tylee gave a rehearsed story about the bat. Her mother conditioned Tylee for this very day all her life. She was put thru way too much traumatic events for this to even alarm her. Too bad she didn't realize this was her real way out. Her mother was ultimately her killer.

Lori was telling Tylee that they would get Charles money like they get Joseph Ryan’s money and they were going to move back to Hawaii. I feel Tylee believed and want to get back to hawaii to where she probably felt her life was normal. (Hence the Moana “how far I’ll go”). However I don’t think that Lori had any intentions on Tylee being around long after, she just needed Tylee to go along with the plan and be the “unbiased” witness to this planned self defense killing.

This might be the 4th time I'm watching this. How sad, a life wasted. Her life experience could of made her a very good Mom or a very bad one. We'll never know. I think if she was living near her brother, she would of made a wonderful Aunt to his two girls. I also think about her biological father and how much he was destroyed by this evil person who shall remain nameless. The evil that went out to Mr. Ryan, just horrible.

It’s difficult to watch this young woman, knowing her own Mom is going to murder her. She’s so much of a child still.

She also spent a lot of time in interview rooms like this one, repeating things her mom had coached her to say, from a VERY young age. Weirdly, an interview room like this would be a familiar place for her. A look into the divorce filings of Lori and Tylee's dad, Joe Ryan, is pretty eye-opening into the life of Tylee. This poor girl lived in such a messed up situation.

Imagine a mother who puts her daughter through this stressful position. It is evil. Tylee you deserved so much more than what you were given. Even if events did happen the way Lori and Alex lied, this should still be horribly stressful on a sixteen year old girl.

Last question: what was wrong with Alex that he went along with this and carried it out? Was he out of touch with reality too or did he have some other problems? Did he carry out the killings, did Lori or was it both? Chad killed Tammy I think. That Lori must have some skills in the sack or something

Hadn’t she just witnessed her dad be killed by her uncle? Regardless her dad just died and she’s not showing any emotion about it. Just restless and bored. I don’t care that her mom likely brainwashed her against him- just the fact that such a thing has happened and she’s dead to it- wow. Who knows, for all we know she may have had a similar brain as her mom- it just hadn’t fully developed yet. Her own mother ensured she wouldn’t be anything other than victim.

Also they shouldn’t have letAlex just walk away. I watched the police questioning him and he was totally calm. That should have been a red flag. If he had been in jail where he belonged maybe things would have turned out differently for those kids.
She’s so composed here. If only we could hear what’s going on in her mind. But then again, living with the mother she had, I suppose she had to adjust to taking it all in stride. I bet Lori grilled her as soon as they were alone, “did you say this , did you tell them that”, etc. This poor girl. I can’t begin to imagine what her life was like, and it never, ever got better. I’d like to believe she had big plans for herself, dreaming of starting a life without her crazy mother. I’m so angry Lori is sitting in a hospital and not a jail cell.

Why did the Detective leave the door open for her to hear her Mom’s story? This Detective needs more training, and since she had not been to the home why was she allowed to ask questions of either Lori or Tylee. Where was lead Detective? So, sad, LE didn’t investigate Charles death more timely.

Exactly, I don’t know most kids who would go out of there way esp a girl this young and buy a baseball bat for protection. I had a bat but it was a gift playing baseball. My sister had a baton for cheerleading.

This I'd hard to watch. That child sitting there had just witnessed her uncle or her mom (?) shooting her stepfather, and then a few months later she was killed, too. Chilling and so sad to know the trauma she was put through the day of this interview. What a tragic loss.

I know. I was just realizing that. For some reason, I was thinking that he was killed the year before that…but with the date showing on the bottom of this video, she and JJ died just 2 months later. Such a terrible tragedy, if someone had just believed Charles and how serious this really was when Lori was acting and saying such weird things…maybe she and JJ, (and Tammy) would still be alive. But I know it’s just too painful to think that way. I’m just so sad about the whole thing.
There is something very wrong when separated witnesses can hear the interviews of others in the next room. If rooms can't be soundproof then they should be out of hearing distance of each other. Their testimonies should be in question because of what they hear other witnesses saying.

I watched Alex. He’s as dark as a person can get in his interview. He appears to me as the Grim Reaper. I got an awful feeling in my gut watching him.
He refused to look at the police officer sitting across from him. He kept his head turned to the right. So he couldn’t have a visual in his mind. A really gross man.
But with his wife, she says he knew Holy Scripture he told her. And impressed her with them. And really loved him. She was being influenced by cult thinking from Lorie & Chad.

At 119 min, she appears to say " just gotta keep the story straight ". Bad decisions never turn out right. No matter how long or short time will become, it's the evil that lurks.
I am struck by the nonchalance by both Tylee and Lori after this traumatic event. I sometimes wonder if Tylee was involved in this plot, at least as far as lying. She seems like a troubled girl, her mom did that to her. She most likely became a liability. So sad.
