I have always wondered why most people cannot seem to understand that the Arabic with the root word "Ayn-Ba-Dal" is NOT the English "worship!"
Also, the Arabic with the root "Shiin-Ra-Kaf" is NOT the English "idol worship!"
Consider this verse: _"__10:18__... they (worship) beside God (idols) that possess no power to harm or benefit them and they SAY..."_
Now ask yourself, since EVERYBODY knows that idols have no power to harm or benefit them... WHO told them otherwise?
The priests, monks, shaman, medicine men, dalai lama, revered religious scholars, imams, muftis and all the other _"holy men"_ of the man-invented religions.
Also ask yourself, WHO told you that idols cannot harm nor benefit you?
Or more precisely, WHERE is this information to be found?
    The Quran!
And, are you able to certify/verify this using your God-given 5 senses?
Also, what has Allah sent down to mankind?
    The Quran.
Isn't it obvious, and beyond any shadow of doubt, that SHIRK is when you listen/obey/follow ANYTHING that comes from OTHER than the Quran as the source of information about Allah?
So, when you perform the 5 daily Namaz, the Sunni/Shiite version of Namaz/Salah or go down on all fours with your forehead firmly pressed to the ground, which is the Sunni/Shiite/Sectarian version of prostration, or any of the Sunni/Shiite/Sectarian rituals... you are indeed committing SHIRK!
Please take time to think, ponder & reflect on the Quran.
Make the Quran the center of your _"UNIVERSE"_
    peace to the world.

Greetings and peace be with you. I'm not sure if I properly understand your interpretation of 7:190. Is your understanding that Allah is saying that these parents who are being spoken to, who had a good child after praying their child would be good, were idolizing their child? My deduction is that you mean to say that they violate God's command out of love for their children. If so, I'm curious how you deduced that this is what the verse was speaking of? While I can understand how this would be a form of idolatry, especially for believers (I believe we have a similar understanding of worship/servitude/devotion ect), my understanding of the verse is that they prayed for their child to be good, Allah made it so, and then they continued to turn away and make partners with Allah (whether literal or metaphorical), rather than exalting "fataʿālā" - 190) and thanking ("l-shākirīna - 189)
the One (Allah) who sent them the blessing which they prayed for, after they promised to be thankful for it. There are other verses that certainly appear to me to be speaking of idolatry of other types than the literal worship of physical idols, though this verse in particular doesn't appear to suggest that specifically.

If, according to Allah, an individual becomes Muslim by declaring submission to Him (2:131), then taking shahadatain not only doesn’t make one a Muslim, but it is a testimony of shirk.
45:23 Have you seen him who takes his desire for his god, and Allah leaves him in error knowingly, and seals his hearing and his heart and puts a covering on his sight? Who can then guide him after Allah? Will you not be mindful?

What is even meant by worship? And why does God need our worship?

God doesn't need our postures, HE wants us to follow and act accordingly to whatever HE raises in our souls and be on the right path.
Kufar is burring - Then comes Kizab the denial. And God says HE knows what I raise in human ( as a thought, inspiration) , the human buried it because Humans denies the Deen the day of resurrection. 84: 22-23.

      Agreed.
No muslim EVER have taken human beside Allah as God
But many muslim allow human to “speak” and/or become “spokeperson” to God
Should reconsider # 3 to a deeper understanding
