    You know what's really amazing? I'm an amateur magician, and his sleight of hand with that ball is actually not bad -- as in, those were real, known techniques of stage and parlor manipulation acts, so he was either classically trained or actually studied the classical textbooks of something that he could have actually used to make an honest living instead of going to 100x more trouble to fake bullshido.

Every single gang member, mafia enforcer or common street thug knows at least 20 of the death techniques in the last part of the video? Damn, I was just setting up my gun range to snatch 'life from the jaws of death' by catching a bullet! Say what? I would literally be snatching 'life from the jaws of life'? Ouch... I want a refund!!! Lol, great video man! I just barely remember seeing something long, long ago about this fool. Literally prior to the internet as we know it today. How did he survive for so long?

    • @tombstoneharrystudios584
      @tombstoneharrystudios584 Před 2 lety +2

      Probably because
      1) there was scant information available about ninjutsu during the ninja boom
      2) videos were rare as equipment was bulky and very expensive for amateurs so you couldn’t examine his technique closely; anything works in still photography
      3) He knew his market…largely alienated and unathletic teenage boys or mall ninja types
      4) there was still a culture of belief regarding “deadly” techniques, secret styles etc. Martial arts were still quite fringe during the 80s
      Ashida Kim is very good at talking bullshit, and the fact information on him was so scant fuelled the mystery and ironically, the authenticity
      From my own experience I remember how Wing Chun was being hawked as the great ultimate style due to the attachment to Bruce Lee
      I finally get to see a video produced by Michael Tse featuring Ip Man’s son, Ip Chun
      It was laughably bad…the “attackers” took huge, slow lunging attacks whilst Ip Chun returned at breakneck speed. There was live resistance (yes I know it’s for instruction but still)
      When he demonstrated Si Lum Tao he could barely keep his balance performing a side kick to the knee!
      I can forgive someone being past their prime but when GM Hwang Jang Lee of TKD & countless Hong Kong movies can still outkick students half his age…well?!?

    That was seriously fun! :D I really loved his "27 deathblows" or whatever it was - "ripping of the face" etc. hahaha! Epic case of a dude living in his own fantasy land :D But then again - would martial arts really have been so appealing to us as kids, had we not seen crackpots like this guy and the many crazy B-movie ninja-films of the 80's? They were pure gold back then, and a big reason for me to get into real martial arts and therefore go on to study kung fu for 10 years. I think we should almost pay homage to this guy instead - almost ;) Funny guy though :D

    Fun fact about poison hands it's not a form or kata but instead something else. It's a method of training meant to enhance ones killing potential in unarmed combat. In other words it can work with any martial art such as Boxing or Gracie Jiu-jitsu. The idea is to use the correct amount of poisonous insects and plants until your body becomes used to it. However it needs to be the correct amount otherwise the concoction will become useless.

    I'm reminded of a line from the show Justified, when the main character Raylan is talking to a boxer and the boxer threatens to knock his teeth out: "Oh you gonna bop and weave out of the path of a bullet? Cause that I'd like to see." I always wanted to see that and well hells bells here it is!

    Just to pile on, at 8:21 he talks about attacking the brachial artery and brachial nerve. The brachial artery does exist. The brachial nerve does not exist. The median nerve is the structure in that area.

    The truth is that there are many people, mostly teenagers, who WISH they were ninjas. So there appears somebody who sells them this dream. "Hey, I am ninja. I can make you a ninja." Just like astrology and future tellers, and other scams. People will believe any of their nonsense, because they have *already* chosen to do so.

    I'd expect a "ninja master" to know that.

    Yeahhhhh, I lived through the "ninja boom" of the '80's. It was sad, instructors were crawling out from under every rock to claim they were legit ninjas and it was a secret how they became so. Today, it's the same way with Krav Maga, people watch some videos, read some books and bingo, they become instant Krav masters.

    • @v.pintilie6691
      @v.pintilie6691 Před 6 lety +2

      At last, someone that sees Krav Maga for what it is! All the guys in my city are screaming about how colossally effective it is, and they flock up to the local krav maga gym.

    • @wraith9112
      @wraith9112 Před 6 lety +11

      Real Krav isn't bad, problem is finding an instructor who was properly trained and can link their lineage to Israel. It's nothing really new, it was a combination of boxing, street smarts and judo originally and just developed from there. What irritates me is when you see a self taught instructor who isn't even getting close to it but people flock to them to train. We have one such instructor here in Northwest Arkansas, he has given himself many titles over the years and has been going by professor for over a decade. Half his students can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.
