Hello sweet friends!
I'm excited to share an all new cozy, decorating with y'all today! This week I was inspired by one of newest finds to give our bedroom a whimsical, cottagecore inspired update. The aesthetic may not be your typical summer look, but sometimes doing something a little unexpected is a good thing, right?! I always hope to encourage and inspire you to do what you love in your home and not necessarily what is trendy or what everyone else seems to be doing. So here I am practicing what I preach!! I truly hope you enjoy it!

We live with Spring decor all year around which makes me happy. I love all things roses and ornate frames and mirrors. I have decorated our home with thrift store finds forever! I love all things crystal and European. Friends and family used to make fun of me for shopping thrift store way before it was poplar. I love how you put things together. Great idea with the ornate frame and butterflies.
Ohhh that sounds so lovely!!! I definitely am “newish” to the thrifting bandwagon…but can’t imagine anyone making fun of someone who does. My mom didn’t shop thrift stores when I was growing up, so it wasn’t really on my radar. I guess you got the last laugh though…now that it is so popular! Love the bed skirt. We live in a modular home with very limited storage space as well. I have storage containers with little wheels under mine. Along with baskets and lots of photo albums. ❤

Oh Carin, so very pretty as usual. I love the fresh greenery that you bring in. Not only economical but very pretty, especially with the butterflies attached. The ceramic swan is precious with the pink flowers. I'm a widow now, so I've indulged myself with alot if pink in my bedroom. I also have thrifted antique picture frames with pics of my parents and grandparents when they were younger on my cedar chest in my bedroom. They've all been gone for yrs now and it is so a sweet way to remember them. I really conect with your decor styling and sensibilities, and so enjoy your videos over all others I watch. Yes!!! You never quite know what will spark inspiration! That’s what makes it so magical. ❤️ Thankfully we only caught the outer bands of the hurricane and had only damage to a couple trees. We never lost power either!
Your summer bedroom turned out lovely. There are enough light colors and bedding; to look nice for summer. I love the oval frame with the butterflies. Your dark furniture is a nice contrast. Unless you actually have a cottage on the beach; I don't think you have to have everything a light color.

Perfect as usual! I love how you allow your home to grow and breathe along with you. And I laughed to myself when I saw you bend the ranunculus stems. I do that as well, so that in case next time I need the stems longer. Gorgeous💕

I definitely try to keep the stems in tact as much as I can. You are absolutely right…you never know when when you might need that stem to be longer. And there is no going back once you cut it! 😂
Oh you are so so right! I don't follow trends..i buy & decorate my home with the things I love, the things that make me want to stop & touch them, that me me smile every time i look at them! Sure I love things that others have, and want a lot of those things.. but they're all primitive, antiques, old vintage, regency/Victorian pieces. Those are the things I love! So even if I have some of the same pieces, there still a bit different with the age, and displayed or styled differently. I think the art you've made is very pretty! I've actually been looking for some old cameo brooches, i want to put on a piece of velvet in an ornate frame. I haven't had luck finding the cameo's, not that i can afford anyways, so i actually went on line today & found some. I may look for A vintage one a little longer tho. There's so many thrift stores in the area we're moving to, maybe I'll find one! But watching you make this piece just inspires me more! Such A beautiful frame!❤ I think the bedskirt looks beautiful, perfect with your bedding! Just gives it such A beautiful look altogether, goes really well with the aesthetic of the room. The dried florals are really pretty. I'm obsessed with your mirror, its stunning!❤ I don't really buy very much seasonal decor other than Christmas. I may buy a few things thrifting, if i really like it. I'm just not one to continuously change decor, like i said i love my things & love to see them all the time. I don't care to box things up! If I find a couple pieces of seasonal decor, I'll just add them in then remove them. I'll move more at Christmas, i love decorating for Christmas! Something I loved doing as a child with my mama, and it does bring me joy! But I still try not to move too many things😄 Love the clock, and the swan looks so pretty sitting in front of it🦢🌸 I love the art by the TV, i love Victorian art, some of my favorite to collect. The little butterfly on the branch, as well as the other places, is a sweet, whimsical touch!🦋🌿 You've really turned this into such a beautiful, cozy, cottagey space..i love the look! I think sometimes trends can align with what we already love…and that’s the best of both worlds I suppose. I love the idea of collecting the cameos to make an art piece. That would be stunning! I have no doubt that you will find the perfect pieces. Sometimes those things just take time! I’m right there with you…I’m getting more and more selective of the pieces that I bring into our home. I really try to focus on things that I love so much that I will want them out all year long. That way I don’t have to worry too much about finding places store them. Keep it classic! I have tried and failed at the trendy home decor and am much happier letting my home evolve over time with things I love like those English Country homes. Fill your home with what you love and you’ll be much happier and comfortable. Repurposing old pieces are so much better than buying new. I use those small cream white swan planters to hold wrapped teabags. I set up a cute white open shelf for my beverage/dessert station with vintage white plates and cups.
Your decor sounds absolutely lovely!! I think there can be ways to incorporate trends in small ways, if they feel appropriate for your space. But you should absolutely do what feels right for your space and for your sensibilities. I tend to think of trends as a “suggestion”…that I can take or leave. Go for it!!! I’ve definitely found I’m happiest with our home when I lean into the things that make us happy. I did the farmhouse style in our last home ( with a lot of the same pieces we have now) and it just felt off. Because of where we lived and how trendy it was…it just felt like that was what I was supposed to be doing. I don’t know if you will get this or not.
My dad was a carpenter and builder.
So I learned a few things from him just by watching.
I’ll share one with you, when you do your wood work. Use a little bit of caulking to seal and finish little gaps and such then when you paint over it. It gives you a more finish product.
I’m old now and through the years you learn little tricks. My mom was a seamstress I should have paid more attention to her work. I did pick up a couple of things from her.. but I really don’t enjoy sewing. I find sometimes says this expensive if you just buy it already made you’re a lovely young woman and I can see you are a wonderful mom.

Thank you so much!!! So I usually try to put a mason jar with water into any vessel that I can’t fill with water. But there are certain branches in our yard, that actually will stay fresh looking for a week or more with no water at all. In hindsight…I would have tried to put a shallow plastic container with water in the bottom of the basket. The branches I put in there wilted pretty quickly. I’m still learning!
