    Changed my oil and filter this week used the penrite
    Glad you recommended it
    Although prior to the service the oil went black on the stick usually hard to read and clean
    1st time in 5 years this has happened to the oil used the nulon oil last service haven't had this happen before is there anything I should be concerned about ?

    Nice flex on that extra clean oil! I have an old 1kz and the oil turns black pretty quick after a change. The engine is new to me and is a bit of a mess. Plan to block egr and clean intake if necessary. Doing the injectors and glow plugs next week and will also check compression then. Thanks for all the videos and sharing information.

    In my country there's mostly Toyota oil, Mobil 1 and Liquimoly and then some Japanese brands i do not know. Always use 5W-40 as temps fluctuate between - 40 to +40 Celsius. My engine did 130k, no oil is eaten in one way or another. I'm impressed.

    I have a Toyota Yaris 2013 model with petrol engine here in the UK. The problem is the metal flat dipstick, it always shows different levels on each side, so how are we supposed to know which is the actual level. One side up to the full mark, but the other side about halfway between full and minimum mark

    Quick question how long does it take for the oil to drain from the oil filter? If I wait 5 min to check my oil level after the engine is warm or hot does any of the oil drain down to the sump or it stays in the oil filter.

    As well as the viscosity of the oil Toyota also recommend the ACEA rating of the oil, for my Prado J150 it's C2, apparently it can damage the three-way cat, DPF or EGR if you use the wrong ACEA code. ACEA is a European standard, not sure what Australia or the US use. Any thoughts on this?

    • @markwarnberg9504
      @markwarnberg9504 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Our European oils are what we call Low and Mid SAPS, less Sulphate Ash - Phosphor - Sulpher.

    Is there a an overfilled level above top mark that causes the crankshaft to hit the oil level and cause “froth”.

    Has anyone ever seen this happen?

      Depends on how hot it is. If it´s above +35c you should use a 40 weight oil. Most truckers use 40 or 50 weight oils to handle the heat and hard driving.

    • @bobsugrue2983
      @bobsugrue2983 Před 8 měsíci

      My oil stays clean like that for about 7-8000k then it slowly darkens
      My egr is disconnected and when I change my oil I run cheap oil through the motor after draining old oil out just to clean out most of the dirty oil maybe 3-4 litres then the new oil stays clean for ages even at 10,000km you can still see the dipstick through the oil so the oil never goes black like most motors

    Sorry guys, penrite is a good Australian oil but Valvoline is a better oil as it's a global brand. If you use Valvoline synpower FE you don't burn oil you get good fuel economy and the book states it's good to use 5w30 over the whole climate range I think from memory the was only 10° different on the hot side between 30 and 50 grade oils no difference on the 40 grade I used Valvoline FE for 200k in my Hilux and often met the fuel consumption stated. I also don't think overfilling oil by any measurement is good for any reason I only ever put 6.9l in no more no less if it's between the dots that's the safest range that's what I stick to if you go above the top line it can increase crank case pressure and your using more oil so it cost more or in your case you service a few cars a week that's less services you can do on the same amount of oil and you'd buy in bulk say 250+ litres at 0.5 litres more then required you do the math but it's 2x services per litre

    • @Fourby4Diesel
      @Fourby4Diesel  Před 11 dny

      We know some people that use Valvoline that have been less than impressed with the results end of story

    • @robincollis6349
      @robincollis6349 Před 11 dny

      @@Fourby4Diesel yeah but did they use the correct Valvoline the specific diesel oil is 15w40 and it's not full synthetic while it is cheaper, you get what you pay for. You know how the 1vd diesel was notorious for consuming oil in some cases customers where only getting 8k km before the oil level warming light would come on by switching to Valvoline FE 5w30 the customer made the 10k interval and the oil level only dropped maybe 0.5 of a litre but yeah I respect the work that you guys do but being a mechanic myself some youtube videos blow my mind and this is supposed to be educational for DIYers it's scary at the end of the day telling people to exceed the max level is not good information, but the other stuff 👍 especially the injector information 👍👍
