I’m getting on in my years now. My grandmother would make that syrup every year. We’d keep containers of it and as children we loved it like hot tea. However, there was a more sinister game at play. That we, as children were not allowed to have. That was my grandmother also made it for re-activating Vodka. In fact she’d have multiple large fermenting bottles running for months and I’m telling you now it wasn’t for the weak. Wink Wink!

I grow and make elderberry's for this purpose made some what the same as you did I do no t sell it at all It is for our own use. Recently i had some blood work done and was found somthing was destroying my red blood cells. I was told to do nothing continue my diet and retest in 30 days which I followed during the 30 day period my wife got a cold so we both started with a liberial dose of elderberry syrup. When I had the second blood test I had a very high count of new red blood cells . I just thought it was interesting not sure why

As with most natural remedies "it depends". In our family we take 1 teaspoon- 1 tablespoon every 2 hours during acute conditions and 1 teaspoon - 1 tablespoon a day during cold and flu season just to be on a safe side.
