    Nice clear video. One thing for me to better "understand" the sniper counter is that I see it as an overall capability of sniping for each side in the AO (Area of Operation) for the scenario. Not nesacarily a single man running around taking pot shots.

    Another phenomenal introduction to an aspect of ASL I am unfamiliar with! Many thanks!

    Nice video, thanks for posting. Broken Ground Design has sniper counters with the SAN numbers printed on them, makes it easier to just replace the just reduced counter.

    I finally figured out how the sniper works!

    About the only corrective comment I could make is that SAN can also be 0, not just 2-7. It's not common, but in all-armour scenarios this happens sometimes. Great video, though. :)
    Also, another good place for the sniper in your example would be V10. That gives you a fair number of possible targets in various directions too.

      @@ASLAcademy - indeed so. But it can *start* at zero - see scenario T5 (I think), the Puma Prowls. :)

      You may well have sorted the focus as your post was a while back - seems to me you may be using a very low fstop resulting in a very narrow depth of field. That would cause the middle of your frame to be in focus but the top and bottom to be out of focus. If possible, try changing your camera to much higher fstop (aperture) setting. Just a thought but worth a shot. many thanks for the excellent videos.

    As I learn the SK, I too wish Snipers were included.

    What happens if there are no or less than 6 enemy occupied hexes on the board ? When do you place your sniper then?

  • @kevinh785
    @kevinh785 Před 2 lety

    I've never seen anyone sniper check the sniper. I guess if SAN were 5, 6 or 7 it might make sense, otherwise it seems not worth the cost (which is why you don't see it often).

    If the sniper check against the German sniper is successful, the sniper is killed and the counter should be removed from the game. What is the point of reducing the German SAN by one if there remains no German sniper to activate ? The way I understand the rule is that if the American side succeeds in killing the German sniper, it then reduces its own SAN, thus reducing the chance of the American sniper being activated.

    • @ASLAcademy
      @ASLAcademy  Před rokem

      Not sure I understand the comment/question. A sniper counter is never removed ("killed") from the game unless its SAN # is reduced to 1 through Sniper Checks (A14.4) and/or Sniper attack resolution (sniper attacking a sniper, A14.3).
      "A Sniper Check (A14.4) or attack vs a Sniper (14.3) which eliminates a Sniper reduces THAT side’s SAN by one for the duration of the scenario...If the SAN is reduced to 1, remove the Sniper Target Selection counter from the game."
