  • Some impressions from the first track session with the 996.2 GT3 “Cupified” modified car. Inspiring driving together with a friend in a 991 GT3 RS MR. A lot of talking but also some on-board video at the end :-)

    Fantastiskt körning på Ljungbyhed, gillar att du med lätthet följer 991 GT3RS:n även i accelerationen på rakan. Den är bra optimerad denna 996GT3:a. Jag hade inte hängt med där.

    I am more and more intrigued by the 996.1 GT3.
    I own a 964C2 with many RS parts and often drive a 997 GT3 during our frequent alps tours.
    There I must say that I really prefer my 964, as the GT3 feels a bit too dull and not as exciting (besides the engine sound).
    I more and more believe that the original GT3 might really be the car I am somehow looking for?!

      Sounds great with the modified 964 C2. I am there founder of www.964tribehangout.com. You need to check-it out and join us at some point. Getting back to the 996 GT3. I might not be the best looking 911 but I think that it is growing on you. However it's a fantastic drivers car. Compared to the 997 and every more moder 911 it has no nannies (no systems), its small, light, feels agile and very connected to drive and the engine is just fantastic! But still very different from the 964 with a much more moder driving experience and performance but still very analog like the 964. I think the price/performance still is great. If you find a good one, you should go for it if you can 👍 / Jonas

    Great vid. Thanks for sharing! Gotta agree about the 996. I just love mine too! So can I ask did your car start as a Cup car and then modified for the street or vice versa?

    • @TrulyDriven
      @TrulyDriven  Před 3 lety

      Thanks Stradman ! Its an 996.2 GT3 -04 streetcar to start off with but built over the years towards a fairly serious Cup replica but still road registered 👍

    Was you faster with this 996 or with your GT4 ? If you would choose a car for the trackday , your preferred one , what would be your choice ?

    • @TrulyDriven
      @TrulyDriven  Před 3 lety +3

      Really two very different driving experiences. The GT3 is light, lively, 100% analog (apart for ABS) and is one of the purest 911 there is. The GT4 is a different concept but also a much more modern car with technology that allow you to go faster without increasing the risk unreasonably. But also a heavier car but with the JRZ chassi and Manthey setup it communicates very well and is a great experience at the Nordschleife. But which is faster depends on the track I would say. More technical tracks suits the lightweight 996 GT3 better but probably I would at the end be faster around the Nordschleife in the GT4 but haven't tried the GT3 at the Nordschleife yet. Will be a project for next year. But as always, is not how fast you go, is how much fun you have :-)
