  • Honda has seemingly combined its CBR 650F and the CBR 600RR to create a balance of the two.
    While that might not do much to help dispel the myth that Hondas are boring, it’s wonderful that these bikes aren’t quite extinct just yet.

    Bought one earlier this year, some pretty basic modifications changed the look entirely. Some wheel pinstriping, new seat cowl/ tail tidy / integrated brake light, smoked windscreen etc changed the look pretty drastically. Wish it had signals inside the mirrors at front like fireblade but for cheap just got some smoked shorter ones that are much better, but apart from that it looks absolutely stunning front to back now

      Agree with this. I got a cracking deal on an ex demo version of this last year. The smoked screen and red seat cowl make it look like a different animal. Folk ask me if it’s a Blade all the time.

    Great review thank you. I have the 2023 model in red and I love it. There is some vibration through the footpegs, the riding position is more aggressive than the CBR600F of years back, but I really think it’s a great bike. I have a quick shifter on mine as part of the sports pack.

      I’ve also got the red 2023 - it’s perfect for how I ride. I need one that has plenty of highway speed but I don’t need tons of low torque. Strictly a street/hwy rider. We used to say “sport” or “super sport”. The term “sport tourer” really doesn’t fit. You aren’t going to “tour” on an R7 or a cbr650r or even a Ninja 650. But terminology is what it is.

    That straight 4 sound on a sub litre bike is going to be lost to history soon. Get one while you can. In a couple of years they’ll be gone. EURO6 might kill them off.

    I have just bought that model 2 weeks ago, and next week I have to decide the extras. Do you recommend me ask for the quickshifter? I am noob, and it’s my first bike. Excellent video

    • @totallymotors
      @totallymotors  Před rokem +1

      It's not necessary but it'd be a nice thing to have. The bike is perfectly nice to ride without one, it just gives a more track-like feel to be able to go through the gears without using the clutch. Although, you can do that anyway if you get the revs right, it'll just be a bit clunkier.

    The riding position, the clips being above the plate as well as the pililon seat; don't all these indicate this being a sports tourer? I didn't understand why not. Many others have reviewed this under the view of being a sports tourer.

      "Honda's CBR650R is the go-to supersport bike for the real world." - MCN
      It may not be as focussed as the CBR 600RR, but it's racier than the CBR 650F. It's a Supersport bike that's been taught some manners.

    • @tgo_CBR
      @tgo_CBR Před rokem +2

      The R is a direct descendent of the F, made from 2014-2018, not 1 year. Same engine, same transmission, swingarm, etc. 90hp engine revs nice around 6k and runs out at 12k. Performance for the street not the track, making it a sports tourer, not super sport. I own a 650f BTW, great bike!

    • @totallymotors
      @totallymotors  Před rokem +2

      @@tgo_CBR Correct. The final iteration of the 650F was only around for a year but the model itself lasted a bit longer. I should have made that clearer.
      However, the 650F is a Sports Tourer, the 650R is not.
      Same frame and same engine but slightly more aggressive seating position and bar placement (although not as much as an RR), flipped Showa forks and they've squeezed a bit more horsepower out of the engine.
      Small changes but enough to make it a midway point between the F and RR.

      300km's is all I can saddle in the seat.
      97kg's.
      Shorter commutes are great, but if you want comfort, it won't deliver that from a full tank to empty. (300-350km's)
      At the very best, hope it again and try to get 600km down the road. I can't do it with my weight.
      Maybe, if you refuel every 200s, and not every 350km, it would help.
      Anyways, it great as daily as my commute one way to work is only 35km.

      If I keep it lower in the revs and “average” hwy speeds (65 mph or so) it will be around 45 to 50 mpg. It will drop down to the “30’s” mpg if you wind it on out.
