- Harley Sportster Iron 883 vs Iron 1200 Handle Bar Swap!? I have changed out the bars on my Iron 1200 to the stock bars from and Iron 883. I will review some of the changes and differences in the look and feel of the ride and talk about future plans for my Sportster!

I’m surprised you went w lower bars. I have 883 w drag bars on 2 inch risers and I’m swapping for mini apes. I don’t mind the drag bars but I’m 5’5 and want to be sitting upright. Went to Harley and sat on a 1200 to get a feel. Right away I was sold on the feel and look. It’ll look better w my Memphis shade cafe fairing as well. I also noticed that the bike feels much lighter w mini apes on compared to drag. My height may have something to do w it but w.e. I love the mini apes. Can’t wait for install
THE MIRRORS ARE CRAP I HAVE THEM ON MY 1200C .THEY ARE VERY GOOD FOR SEEING YOUR SHOULDERS AND NOTHING ELSE !!! ALL THE BEST FROM GREAT BRITAIN.
When I did my sportster build I had a XL883 Low and I made it a bobber with ape hangers and the same fairing that came stock on your iron 1200. I also had a chopped tail end and a solo seat

Put old bars aback on the bike ,look better
Makes the clutch cable high enough to give you some wind protection :P. But the headlight shadow will probably be annoying.

I just opened the box with my brand new SP Concepts 2-1 exhaust for my 2023 FXLRS. It's a pretty thing and the bike definitely needs something better than stock. I want to to put a cam in it as well.
But and here is the big 'but': The tuners available for the things are dropping off the market like flies...EPA stuff of very recent(December). I'd tune it myself if I could get the tuner or I'd pay someone to tune it but even they're dropping out. I know the thing will run like crap w/o a tuner and will certainly not run for long before the engine takes a dump I feel like I'm late to the party. My frustrations and I'm sure a lot of others as well. Damn. While I'm alive, just let me make some noise!

I have an iron 883 2018 first thing I did was flip the mirror's it helps quite a bit and it looks cooler. Also Curious why you didn't just go with drag bars that's what I intend to do on my bike
Unusual to go lower on bars. I had an 883 with those same bars. I actually put an 8" riser on my 23 low rider s to give a more upright seating position. I was going to do a 6.6" riser but the mechanic talked me higher (and more money for cable extensions). Now that I slapped on a Saddlemen SDC Pro with backrest I like it. It took some getting used to at first especially since I originally had the stock seat.
BTW I was thinking about you and your 2 bikes lately and wondered if you ever gave some thought to trading in the 2 bikes for a low rider. I had a Street Bob but traded in for the low rider mainly for the larger gas tank but there's so much more that's better with the bike. Also I have no trouble tooling around Philly city streets on the bike.

@TheMotoJawn I sometimes miss my Sportster but usually just from nostalgia and the realization that those models are no longer made. I don't like the new models, both the looks and engine. Great that you are able to hold onto yours. That said if I still had mine it would never get ridden.
You wanna sell those bars? I'd like to put them on my Iron 883. What about the seat? Lol. I just recently recieved long stem mirrors that allowed me see past my shoulders and love handles. The difference is amazing. They still look good their quality is amazing for their price and look exactly like factory. Lemme know bro. Keep up the good work.

Did you keep the original cables on??? I'm looking to do the same thing to the same bike and I'm not sure if I need to get shorter cables to.
I did leave the original for a short while. Then put the shorter cable on. You'll want to change to the shorter cable eventually

imo mini apes are so much more comfortable and i feel like im able to even have better control ... i think the boobers look cool but i dont enjoy riding with them

Hi, hey I was just watching your video on not buying a new Harley Street Bob, I replied to your video and had some questions for you about it and here it is:
Here's my deal, I had my 2022 Fatboy stolen by some POS and it's gone, I had theft insurance on it and I get $5000 cash right, wrong, the dealer LIED to me and it's $5000 toward the purchase of a new Harley. I was going to just say forget it but now I"m thinking of a new Harley to get but I want LOW payments. So, I have $5000 for a down payment, not so great credit and I'd like to get into a new Harley. Would you have any suggestions on which Harley to get? I was looking at the 2024 Street Bob but you say don't buy it for $16,999. In my current situation would you now say buy it or would you suggest a different Harley? If I don't use the $5000 credit in 55 days I lose it. How about the Sportster S?, Is it too small for a guy who's 5 10 and 1/2? I'm sorry for all the questions but I need help and I was hoping you might find the time to answer my too many questions if you can possibly get the time, please.
Probably depends on your budget and exactly what you want. But if you get that 5k that helps soften the blow of that brand new price
