Why Does No One Visit This City!? This is Mwanza (#42)

  • Located on Tanzania's side of Lake Victoria sits Mwanza, the "Rock City". That nickname has nothing to do with music, as you'll see. Instead, you'll find Tanzania's largest tribe and ethnic group, the Sukuma amidst a beautiful backdrop of houses built between stones. On this day my target was an old colonial German mansion, built before World War I.

U're one of the few foreigners who seeks to show the real Africa in every way. The media shows that only a third of Africa is starving, that we generally walk around half-naked or even naked and say there are no white-skinned people around here. I'm Mozambican, more specifically from Beira city, and I'm excited to see you doing this job. Congrats.

Literally every single video I see of Sabbatical in Africa, there is somebody begging him for money. So it's not all rainbows and sunshine either.

@@jessicamedita7520 I didn't mean to be insensitive. I know there are beggars in every country.. It just seems like it's more acceptable in Africa, by even "normal" working people. I see even school children beg, almost as if they have been trained to. It's very sad for me..

@@Ay0ubM it is necessary u to know that Africa is not a country, but a continent and that there are more than 50 countries in it. thus, there are countries where there are people who are more needy than others, there are countries where there are illiterate people and others not, there are countries where black people have never come into contact with white people, just as there are people who live with white people all day long and that does not mean absolutely nothing for them, there are whites and blacks in the streets begging. Your problem is to see a mostly black African and think he is in need of your money. my dear, Africa has rich people too

it certainly has opened my eyes. like many in the west, i just presume africa is starving, everyone runs around naked with spears screaming voodoo spells at each other. i feel silly having believed this as i now see that africa is pretty much like anywhere else. you can live in a city in africa and have everythying you can need just the same as anywhere else, only a lot cheaper than in north america or europe. it is good that someone finally shows us real life in africa!

Traveling back to Arusha on a bus from Nairobi in December, i met a young American like yourself, who got married to a native TZ girl and lives in Moshi. He is into banana agri business. We had a good chat going along the trip to Arusha. I also met a young irishman when taking a Precision Airline from Kilimanjaro Airport to Dar in November last year (2020) who lives in Dar es Salaam and he too is having a great time there. You are a natural anthropologist and after seeing several of your vids I am amazed at your fluency in so.many languages. Most Americans rarely speak 2 languages and so far you speak several languages, including swahili. I was in east Africa for 90 days and barely got out Mambo and Asante Saana. Im proud of you and envious at the same time. I hope to meet you if you're still there when i return. Safe travels.

@sabbatical It's embarassing when I see people asking you for money, I liked your response to that child it made him back away because he probably realised his parents will not approve. It's a red flag when you see people asking you for money so blatantly, just move on very quickly. It's a terrible habit na ni kukosa adabu. I hope tutaacha hii tabia mbaya ya kuomba omba wazungu pesa 😡

Kweli wanaaibisha sana. Hawajui mtu anaweza akawa ame save hela kwa mwaka mzima (au miaka) na sio tajiri, aje atoe stress kidogo au kuona vitu vipya wenyewe wakimuona tu, "naomba hela".
