I loved your story time! I wanted to share my own epic thrift store find story. This took place at the height of the recession, needless to say we relied on the thrift store for much of our clothing and household items. I never looked in the handbag area, I had a perfectly good handbags and was not in need of one. My friend and I were just about to get in the checkout line and I was pulled...like magnetically to the bag section. I could not believe hanging there was a little Louis Vuitton Tricot bag! I didn’t know if it was real marked for $4.99. I bought it because it looked real to me. Fast forward to 2015 my husband and I go to Paris and I took it to the Louis Vuitton store and the people there were kind enough to authentic it. It was from the late 70’s pre serial numbers. The clerk was such a character, he smelled the handles and looked it over and said “Madame, congratulations this is our bag!”
That’s really cool good find our best thrift find was a beautiful buttery soft vintage Balenciaga wallet found for $9.99 sold for $250! Which was great because I’m helping my mom with retirement expenses so we really needed the money. It’s really wonderful to find Hidden gems like this.
GIRL! I watched this vid today and suddenly I felt a really strong urge to go to my local thrift store. It tends to have good items, but it closes sooner than i usually get home, however i got sent home early today because of a blackout. I found a beautiful Coach trench coat in mint color for about 15 bucks and Banana republic formal blouse in navy color for 5 bucks (both in perfect condition). What a sign this vid and the blackout was, lol. :))
I'm so happy you took the time to do this, since a lot of us members of the RWEF are thrifters. It sounds like you hit all the tips I have found to be helpful. Being nice to the people that work there is always a good idea (we should be being nice to ALL workers :-)) But one lady that used to work at a thrift store I no longer go to works at a newer one I do go to. And she remembered me and always lets me know about discounts and sales ahead of time. I also sign up for every thrift store I go to rewards program. I usually go on Sundays because that's the biggest sale day around here, but it makes sense they would put out fresh stuff at the beginning of the week. I'll have to go and see if there's better stuff! My biggest tip is to pick up things that have fallen off hangers and under the racks. I have found lots of silk items, because they're slick. I love the help on authenticating. I felt terrible doing it but I brought a bag to Kate Spade because it was not a normal one and I had to know 100% it was authentic. It gave me such a piece of mind. Worth sucking up my pride to go into the store. How do you find time to research the brands, or what tools beyond the designers website do you use to research brands. That bag is gorgeous!!! My most epic find was an authentic and absolutely stunning tweed Chanel jacket. I kind of wish I would have kept it but I was a broke college student and needed the money. My aunt lives in an area where there are a ton of wealthy areas (where I found the jacket), but they’ve become so aware of designer items and raised prices so much that i don’t think I’ll ever find anything like that there again. It was $6.99.

The outlet mall in my town open a coach gucci and Michael kors store so I have been finding get designer clothes at my thrift shop . My most epic finds are a pair of donald j pliner ankle bootie I paid 8.00 and they retailed 856.00 and a red Burberry bomber jacket paid 15.00 retailed 600.00

I just watched your video and I want to say thank you. I got what I thought was a LULU by Lulu Guinness. Even found another one being sold on a different resale site with same RN No. Was not really sure how to look up the RN until I watched your video. And decided to see and the RN No. came back as a bag that cost maybe 20 to 30 dollars. Had just listed it about an hour before and rushed to take it down. I believe it price wise. I have a legacy peyton bag that I paid $750 for retail lol. It does not resemble coach bag at all. I sold off all my old coach but that peyton legacy bag will forever stay in my collection. Usually its the rarer bags that are high price wise.

I purchased a fake Chanel tee shirt from the bins, it looked so real. The tags matched other Chanel tags. Poshmark flagged it as fake. My opinion on fake designer items is the same as yours, it's just not right in any way for those fakes to even be produced.

Well "Deal Queen" lady i'm not sure this fits in as a thrift item but it certainly qualifies as a "great deal" item for most people. You maybe surprised to know that in a recent study done by a major university they found that 74% of the population either wears glasses, contacts or they have had lasik to correct their eyesight. So glasses for many is an essential item. Apparently, looking at your previous videos you must be in that small 26% that doesn't require glasses. Of course it's also possible that you might be a full time contact lens wearer or had lasik. No matter. Anyone knows that glasses are expensive and in most cases need changed every year either because of a prescription change or because they were lost or broken. At the local optical stores you can expect to pay several hundred dollars even with having insurance. And without insurance maybe as much as $500.00. One "thrifty" ( do you like how I threw that in there?) way to save tons of money is to go on line and order your glasses from any one of several very good sites. I will list 3 that I have used and tested and found to be very good in quality as well as accuracy and price. They are Frimoo (frimoo.com) Eye Buy Direct (eyebuydirect.com) and my personal favorite Zenni (zenni.com) I like Zenni because they have a rather nice selection of glasses including prescription for $6.95. And they have several hundred for under $13.00. So miss "Deal Queen" i'm sorry if you're one of the minority that still has perfect eyesight and can't take full advantage of this great way to save money. But you can of course get a nice pair of really good quality sunglasses made with quality lenses or even maybe a nice pair of "fake" glasses since glasses have become so popular these days. Maybe even get your eyes checked just in case you might need glasses and know it.
