    Okay the 5th episode of Hazbin Hotel season 1 MIGHT be my favorite so far, and REALLY helps expand on some of the ideas and theories I threw out in my last Hazbin video. PLUS it gives us our first real thorough look at Charlie’s dad, Lucifer himself. There’s SO much to unpack in the last two episodes, so I’m gonna do a deep dive into episode 5, Lucifer, Alastor and Lillith in this video and deep dive into episode 6’s exploration of heaven tomorrow or the next day. Let’s do it!

    My personal theory is that Lilith owns Alastor's soul. It just makes sense, they’ve both been missing for 7 years, Alastor comes back and *IMMEDIATELY* goes to the hotel and offer help to Charlie, and it would explain his immense hatred of Lucifer. Why wouldn't you hate the husband of the woman who owns your soul?

      In my mind, being under Lilith would honestly explain how he came out of nowhere as this unstoppable force. It's borrowed power. At least initially.

      That theory could be true it may be more deeper than that what if Lilith order Alastor to help Charlie because she wants to destroy heaven and the angels. In order for that to happen they need Charlie to release her full demon powers

      @@reykhan2453 Well in the episode he tells husk he will "rip his soul apart and broadcast the screams for every disrespectful soul to hear" This could be hyperbole but yea I think he definitely does something that permanently incapacitates demons. Holy weapons seem to be the only actual way to kill them so he has to have them trapped in some way because the overlords he took out aren't just depowered and hanging around except for some like Husk which he probably knew he could keep on a leash with husk's addictions.

  • @TheOGCrit
    @TheOGCrit Před 4 měsíci +287

    There's an understated moment that I really like about this episode and the next. Both Husk and Angel are shown stepping up to the demons who have contracted them, showing that their moment of bonding over their situations in episode 4 wasn't for nothing, the both of them being braver in standing up to their abusers. I also find it interesting how both of them react when their abusers re-establish their power, wherein Husk pretty quickly folds when Alastor reminds him whose in charge, whereas Angel still stands proud on behalf of Nifty after Valentino promised to make him pay when he comes in to work.
    Hazbin Hotel has become one of those shows where every aspect of it has me completely drawn in, between the characters and their relationships, the lore and world building, the music, etc. I definitely wanna touch upon it at some point in the future.

    • @Yamatonix11

      Well, to be fair, Alastor both has a much tighter leash on Husker when it comes to his freedoms, and the power to *actually* tear his soul to shreds and follow through on his threats.
      Valentino could kill Angel, yeah, but Angel is also his top earner. He would be shooting himself in the foot. And probably the only reason Alistor didn't straight up destroy Husker there was because he still had some need for him, even if it was just to placate Charlie.

  • @sy1-0
    @sy1-0 Před 4 měsíci +171

    I'm thinking Lilith is the source of Alastor's power. That's how he rose so quickly after being sent to Hell. Perhaps one of the conditions was either servitude- or simply to protect her daughter. Thus, the leash.
    His ill intent there may be to use Charlie as leverage for freedom somehow. Thus the deal. But since she said no, he couldn't leash her. So he keeps himself close and useful. And dear to her.

    • @Katzztar
      @Katzztar Před 4 měsíci +10

      HE rose to power decades ago. They only went missing 7 years ago. Only now did Alastor go seek out Charlie. So Lilith didn't own his soul when he arrived in Hell. That doesn't mean she wasn't the source of his power though. I have a theory that lines up with yours, with just some expansion=
      set up= 1. From Helluva Boss we know humans can/will worship/deal with demons while still alive. The mom of that Murder Family, Martha, was starting to change while she still alive (after all, after 2 seasons, we've not seen any other human with sharp teeth or red eyes...let's not forget Martha's earings also changed).
      2. Lilith went to Hell without dying yet is a demon. We know she is NOT a Sinner demon since they can't reproduce.
      my theory=
      When he was alive, Alastor practiced Voodoo (popular media version of it being dark magic, not the actual religion) maybe had Lilith as a patron to get power. He may have started to change while alive, like Martha, but like Martha, he was killed so became a Sinner demon. But due to his magic, he was more powerful than normal Sinners.
      For some reason not yet revealed, He got on the wrong end of Lilith 7 years ago. She won and now owns his soul.
      Some others theorize Lilith has seen a build up of the Exterminators and has been working on something behind the scenes and she sent Alastor to Charlie to prepare for a confrontation with the Exterminators.

    Hear me out! How does a dime-a-dozen human sinner like Alastor gain so much power in such a short time where it becomes notable to the residents of Pentagram City? I would think that it could be done, but not without help. I think very early in his time in hell, Alastor could have sold his soul to Lilith in exchange for power. He gets the strength to climb the ranks in Pentagram City and Lilith gets to control one of the most powerful sinners in hell. There is a theory that an only power Alastor has is using a Voodoo magic and control radio. All his power is actually Voodoo's abilities, like portals, tentacles of monsters, spawning minions, controlling shadows etc. So he could have spawned in the hell, he used Voodoo magic and got in a deal with Loas, voodoo gods, to become their represent in hell and make them rule over it.
      So he got in a conflict with Lilith and they agreed to attack Heaven together.

    I personally have a theory regarding Lilith’s absence and what her possible goal might be. In the opening narration of “Overture”, Charlie describes her parents as rebellious dreamers and states that after they were cast down into Hell, Lucifer lost his will to dream while Lilith thrived and went on to empower Hell and its denizens. We also know that Lucifer has seemingly decided to occupy his time and energy on frivolous projects and hobbies, such as his theme park Lu Lu World from Helluva Boss’s “Loo Loo Land” and his rubber duck collection in “Dad Beat Dad”. Seeing him fall into this rut of depression was what probably led to her splitting from him, as Lucifer was no longer the dreamer she fell in love with.
    And during the seven-year absence she somehow managed to get Alastor indebted to her. And in exchange for his freedom, he needs to help her with her master plan of not only rallying all of Hell to rise up against Heaven, but also having said uprising be led by her alongside her family as a united front. She plans to do this by way of getting Charlie to truly see and understand just how unjust and unfair Heaven’s system is and helping Lucifer get his drive back, thus getting the rest of her family on her level. Because (if we are to believe what Charlie has said about her mom) Lilith is already a great queen, but now she needs her husband Lucifer to be the king that Hell needs, and her daughter Charlie to be the future leader it deserves.

    I do believe that Lilith owns Alister’s soul. There is a lot of symbolism of him being a cannibal. Eating that Deer. Him having Deer Horns. Him talking about devouring people. Then we saw him straight up eat demons. Wendigo also eat people and have deer horns while also gaining the power of the people that eat. So I think Alister does the same. He kills and eats people and gains their strength. My theory is Lilith wants to use Alister like a nuke. Have him eat and devour Winners (not Angels, but the people that go to Heaven) and thus you have something with both power from Sinners and Winners. He has always said that he doesnt believe Sinners can be redeemed. That isnt the same as not thinking it will not work.

    This is a great breakdown and I completely agree about this season desperately needing more episodes. Episode 4 (and the b-plot of episode 3, kind of) were the only episodes that actually felt like it was actually about the residents of the hotel improving as people. So it's hard to fully believe Charlie telling her father that this hotel will work since I feel like we don't get to see it enough. As interesting as the side-plots about the overlords are, I think focusing on the residents of the hotel more would fix a lot of my problems. A lot of these arcs feel fast-tracked which is a shame since I do like most of the other parts of the story's execution!

If the show said that Alastor rose to power by killing overlords + stuff and is trying to have a stronger paternal bond with Charlie than Lucifer, what if his plan is to replace Lucifer by killing him? Keep in mind that Alastor was a serial killer in life. Him going after overlords might be part of that; serial killers tend to have a specific type of victim they like to go after. Alastor might be after Lilith because killing overlords just doesn't scratch that itch for him anymore.
    Or maybe he isn't after Lilith, but he's after angels. Specifically powerful angels like Adam or Sera. Maybe he was gone for seven years because he was working with Lilith to figure out how to kill angels

  • @AnArtistInAVoid

    My guess is that Alastor sold his soul to Lilith. The leash comment is the thing that kinda makes me think so, because so far leashes have been used in the show so far for one thing, representing contracts involving souls, examples being angel dust’s chain leash to Valentino, and in the very same episode Alastor’s leash is mentioned, Husk’s chain leash to the aforementioned Radio Demon.
    Now for me the question is just about under what circumstances did Alastor sell his soul to Lilith, and when. The first guess is of course during the seven year absence, but another theory I have is that he sold his soul for power when he first met Lilith, which would explain how he became instantly powerful upon manifesting in hell.

  • @sean1406
    @sean1406 Před 4 měsíci +13

    My theory currently running is that Lillith IS Alestor. My reasoning is more in the parcel that Alestor seems to be an almost carbon copy of Lucifer in style, astetic, even toothy smiles.
    But in the most recent episodes it was mentioned Alestors Radio show was more of a torture session to those he imprisoned. My suspect is the earie shadow that follows 'Alestor' is actually the radio demon himself trapped in his own show. And Lilith bringing demons together with her voice fits more under the 'Welcome Home' Song as 'Alestor' gathered an audience in just a few minutes of coming back on the air from a 7 year hiatus

  • @sofiaw5009
    @sofiaw5009 Před 4 měsíci +5

    My theory is that once Alastor got into hell he stayed on the down low for a while until he met Lilith and he made a deal with her in exchange for power. I feel like something bad was going on and Lilith needed to deal with the issue and decided to bring Alastor with her hence the 7 year absence then I assume Lilith ordered him to look after Charlie while she was gone. Perhaps Lilith is dealing with something that could cause problems in the next season but who knows. I’m curious to know if Alastor actually cares about Charlie or just wants to use her to break free from Lilith contract. Could be both. If it is to break free tho that would make sense why he wanted to make a deal with Charlie in order to use that as leverage to get Lilith to set his soul free.

    I believe that since we knew from the pilot that Lucifer told Charlie never to make deals with demons maybe he warned her cuz Lillith made a deal with some random demon who's Alastor and since then she went missing and Lucifer never knew who that demon was, it's possible that this deal was for Lilith to own Alastor's soul so he can have such powerful abillites and she was the one to sent him to Charlie's hotel while she's gone doing something we don't know yet

    • @Hellysal
      @Hellysal Před 4 měsíci

      Well I just figured, what if Lilith took a chance with Alastor and their deal meant he actually replaces her in hell? Given the 8th episode and that Lilith went on a heavenly vacation she might have had enough and then randomly a suitable host for her vast power arrives and boom, he gets her powers AND responsibilities and she gets his freedom to do whatever she sees fit at the time. That'd be a cool motive for Lilith making the deal and also for Alastor the psychopath to be so eager to break free from the chains of Lilith's responsibility of keeping Hell in a decent state and possibly keeping an eye on Charlie as well (although I really get the vibes that he wants to use Charlie for her powers, not that she's a part of his contract whatsoever).

If you know about Hellaverse lore you know Hell is actually "alive" too, that's why the buildings have mouths and eyes. When Executions kill sinners their "soul energy" is absorbed into Hell itself. What if Charlie, as the first Hell-born being, has the power to control Hell itself? A power not even Lucifer nor Lilith would have since they're an angel and human.

    There really has to be a good reason for Alastor wanting to even bother with Charlie and the Hotel. I just can't see him going so out of his way to help her because he's "bored".
    He's admitted and has been shown he finds the whole thing "bizarre". But he wants to be close to Charlie anyway and protects the Hotel, even sending away Mimzy.
    However he doesn't want to harm Charlie either. (At least not right now?) So why? Is he hiding from someone despite being so strong? Or maybe he sees Charlie potentially as a strong tool in his arsenal and for his own machinations?
    I don't really see him holding any affection for Charlie even as a "dad" figure. But he definitely has some kind of an interest or connection to the Morningstar family..and for sure dislikes Lucifer.

    My theory is that Lilith sent Alastor to protect Charlie because Lilith wants Charlie to be the catalyst for a war between heaven and hell. She knows that heaven will never agree to redemption for souls and that Adam is a vindictive asshole who would specifically target Charlie's hotel during the exterminations because it dares to try something different and that Charlie is determined to save her people regardless of the risks. It would also be thematic for how Charlie's good intentions tend to make things worse. The path to hell is paved with good intentions seems to be a running theme. She knows that Charlie is the only thing Lucifer would fight for. And with Alastor being an enslaved bodyguard for Charlie makes it a very low risk to her while getting what she ultimately wants, a war with heaven. I also think it's possible that Alastor is trying to lull Charlie into a false sense of security so she will make a deal so he could have a bargaining chip against Lilith.

    My theory is that Alastor and Lilith are accomplices and that they get along very well to the point that Alastor considers Lilith family, and they are making a plan to change the hierarchy between heaven and hell, and for this they need Charlie.
    The biggest reason I don't think Alastor is seeking Lilith's power is because it was revealed behind the scenes that Alastor is like the protagonist of the Dexter series (Antihero type), he has a strong gray moral code that he faithfully follows, and is more interested in pursuing his own "personal justice" than power, and that is hunting down powerful people who abuse their power on the weak and innocent.
    My theory is that Lilith abandoned Lucifer because he broke her heart when he easily gave in to allowing sinners to be killed (Who Lilith considered her people).
    And Alastor, after killing other overlords (he didn't kill Husk because he was good and he liked him lol) realized that it was for nothing because the biggest abuser of power was Heaven but it was unattainable, and that's when he and Lilith met and they become allies and friends.
    Something interesting is that it is confirmed that Lilith, Alastor, and Charlie like pizza with pineapple.
    Together they spend seven years planning how to usurp Heaven, and they need Charlie (I don't know why).
    Husk considers this relationship "a leash" because he doesn't understand Alastor.
    And yep, I know this theory has holes and doesn't explain other things, but I refuse to think that Lilith and Alastor wouldn't get along or that Alastor doesn't have some kind of affection for Charlie, Husk, and the others at the hotel (Not that That makes him be Alastor lmao).
    But I could be wrong, we'll see

    I can't help but wonder if Alastor and Lilith missing for the same amount of time is a red herring. Out of every character so far, Eve has been discussed even less than Lilith, and Eve's sinister smile with the apple being the immediate precursor to evil finding Earth; Viv did mention years ago that Roo was supposed to be the ultimate evil, however, there's the possibility Eve and Roo are the same. This is most certainly a reach, but since Roo is in reference to root of all evil, Alastor's tendrils do look a bit like roots, not to mention how both Eve's depiction, and (what might have been) Roo's depiction on the clocktower of the pilot both having toothy smiles and touches of red, there's a chance of there being a connection, I think. Perhaps Alastor (and maybe even Lilith) went out to seek Eve for whatever reason, or Lilith sought to stop Alastor from finding Eve, and made a deal with him, or Alastor maybe did find Eve and was put under a bad contract that he wants out of, and so went to the hotel since maybe something in that contract can be broken if he helps Charlie. I'm still piecing together what role Alastor's desire to know about the death of the exorcist played in this
