People in CBS news thinking this was a mixed verdict is hilarious. It's clearly evident who the jury thought was right and the fact that they had to go back and add compensatory damages indicates that the 2 million offered to Amber was not a part of their intention at all. They would have given her $0 for punitive and $0 for compensatory damages if they could. What matters in the end is that truth prevailed. It was a good day for justice!
Also, this is in no way devastating for women who have been abused to come forward with their stories. A lot of women who have been abused looked at the facts, saw Amber's reactions and testimony and still took Johnny's side. If Amber were to win this case, CBS would have reported this very differently. I still don't get why there's so much bias against believing a simple fact that men can be abused too and some women can lie to get what they want. No one is blaming real victims of lying, just Amber. Get your facts right. No one calls Rihanna a liar for coming forward with domestic abuse allegations against Chris Brown. Because it's true. And I personally haven't come across any person that supports Harvey Weinstein or Jeffrey Epstein because they were true perpetrators. Don't make this case seem like a loss for women. That is ridiculous.

These correspondents are terrible. First off, not one of them thought about punitive damages and the probability that the jury had added in punitive damages but forgot to do compensatory.
Also, the “split verdict” isn’t saying “they both lied about the abuse”. The one statement that was found to be defamatory on his side was waldman’s remark accusing them of specifics in terms of the hoax that he couldn’t have known.

AH finally got what she had coming to her and I’m glad he had the money to seek justice, clear his name, and bring awareness to a form of domestic abuse many didn’t think of as abuse, as AH so cruelly taunted him for when stating he’d never get believed as the man. He spoke up not just for himself but on behalf of so many before him that didn’t have the money or global reach that he did. I believe this shed a much-needed light on abuse and that it may not always always look the same, but that dysfunction and abuse is definitely possible both ways in a relationship.

Why is this news woman saying the jury decided they both lied. Incorrect! The only count amber won was on the statement made by Johnny’s old attorney. The one stating “her and her friends roughed the place up a bit, spilled some wine, and called 911 a second time”. The jury likely came to that conclusion because the responding deputies said they came back out but there wasn’t a second call- they were responding again to the first call. That doesn’t mean Johnny lied about anything, the statement wasn’t even made by him. They obviously believed Johnny full stop, so the mainstream media needs to stop trying to misrepresent facts

The split verdict is a bummer because it's leading to the assumption that they were both lying and Johnny only narrowly wins. No, the jury found that Amber was lying on all counts. The statement they ruled in her favor was JD's lawyer's statement about Amber's FRIENDS, not her! So in the end, they ruled that she lied about HORRIFIC claims and accusations and that Johnny's lawyer got it wrong when he said her friends spilled wine, roughed the place up and placed a second 911 call. And the evidence presented didn't show her friends did that. So the verdict makes sense, but don't get it twisted, nothing about this verdict said they believed anything Amber said!
