- George Motz spent most of his adult life studying hamburgers, with his research featured in books and even a documentary film. Now, he's made the jump from professor to professional. Six months ago, he opened Hamburger America in New York Ctiy, where he serves up burgers from around the country.

For folks who are learning about George for the first time, I assure you that he is ALWAYS just as warm and inviting as he seems in this interview. Love seeing him finally being able to turn his passion into a business. He deserves the success
I LOVE Motz. He just opened his own burger joint, and what does he do? He drives you guys to Jersey to eat someone else's burger. The Ultimate Burger Selflessness
George Motz is a national treasure!
he has been ending up everywhere ever since opening up that hamburger place
@@holechekyou should go back on CZcams and look. He’s been building his street cred for a long time. He deserves this success plus more.
Motz driving to a different burger joint is all you need to know about him.
He wants people to enjoy burgers everywhere.
What a god damn legend
Had a double cheese onion burger at Burger America last night and it is possibly the best burger I've ever had in my 35 yrs of eating burgers.
And you paid $12 American dollars for maybe $2 worth of ingredients.
@@MrDanieloneill How do you think businesses stay alive? By selling $2 worth of ingridients for $4? And in NYC? Dude...
@oreally69 What are you on about? Obviously, Burger America is a regional soup kitchen that just randonly got on the news for no reason. /s
It's so awesome that he's actually there making the burgers
I love how he takes it so serious when he's on the grill. The cameras or conversations won't stop him from delivering his perfect burger
Imagine just using the name "george" on your chef shirt, this man is so modest and real
I don’t get to NYC often (I’m 44, I’ve been there probably 15-20 times), but when I do, I will get a burger here. I’ve seen many of his videos through the years, he’s a cool dude and I think he knows what it is about.
This is exactly the same way I’ve always liked burgers too! It’s about a simple quality cheeseburger where you taste the beef and not all the extra garbage that everyone covers it with.
Went to Hamburger America a few months ago. Can confirm it - George makes one hell of an onion burger.
This is so much better than those pretentious a-holes in Connecticut who serve you a near-raw meatball between white bread and will refuse you service if you dare ask for salt and pepper, let alone any condiments.
I still gotta try them once
Are you talking about Louis' Lunch? That place was a gigantic disappointment.
His PR team has been working overtime.
George Motz is a legend
Glad he's getting this coverage
If you don’t know about this guy he’s basically the sage of burger
So glad he is getting success AND recognition for his work (and passion)
Trust me, even if you think you know all there is to know about burgers George will teach you some more
Certified Gold!!!!!
George Motz is clear and away THE steward of the hamburger in the annals of American culinary history. The fact that he’s putting this stuff out for people to experience is amazing.
1:48 There's such a stark contrast in body shape between modern day and the 50s(?)
I’m not seeing it
"Oklahoma state fair in 1910" really sums it all up, beautiful
It’s incredible to see such kindness and love. Thank you all!
George Motz is a treasure. I found out about him in other videos for the last few years here. The man's passion for an icon of American food/culture is a blast to follow/watch.
Anyone see the anchor on the right at 6:30 JUST eating the pickles and not tasting the burger? Weird.
Perhaps she doesn’t eat cheese or animal flesh
how about 3:30 ? disgusting!
@@JK-yi9gk Imagine the flavour, though☺
Pie and Burger in Pasadena......a gem
I make my own smash burgers Sollys Wisconsin style at home. They are awesome. George is the burger scholar. I watched him make smash burgers to get some ideas. I want to try Oklahoma onion style next.
You rock George
It’s hard not to respect the dedication
Seth Rogan should play George in a Burger movie.
Johnny Knoxville would be better...
Visited the shop & George was there he's cool more like Cali cool surfer than burger god but if you haven't been you're missing out!!
was there 3 weeks ago, and it lived up
A simple burger is a beautiful thing
Homemade burgers are always the best . I make a burger on a everything bagel
In a perfect world, George Motz’s new burger restaurant would grow at an unprecedented pace and put McDonald’s out of business within about 10 years.
There used to be a burger shop in Queens with a little old lady that sold handmade burgers for 1.25. This was 20 years ago. I wish I could remember the name.
Damn, I’m hungry.
Ive been making burgers the Motz/Okie Fried Onion way for a while it changed my understanding of what a hamburger can be
His books led me to buy a flat top griddle and experiment with different meats and ingredients. Finally met him, truly a nice guy.
@@bvward I gotta invest in one how much do they cost
@@joeysworldsewer $140,00-160.00 for 22" Blackstone. Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot.
@@bvward I appreciate you good sir from New Jersey. Cheers from Florida, good hamburgers will reunite this country once again!
Love the name.
If he’s truly interested in regional burgers, he can’t avoid that an avocado bacon cheeseburger is a regional speciality in California.
Eventually he might get to it. But there's so many styles and expressions with just those 5 or 6 base ingredients, plus bacon is gonna make it here long before avocado does lol
His name isn't George Motz, it's George Motz.
It's really hard to see Wolverine as a senior citizen hamburger shop owner.
The man the burger the legend.
6:28 was she just eating pickles? How you not going to try the burger and the audacity to mention turkey and salmon burgers 😂 that’s disrespectful to my guy George
George Motz rules and this place is pretty good.
Sit at the counter if you have time to dine in.
I don’t recommend this month’s special burger if you don’t like Mayo.
5:33 I want to come to New York, especially for this great guy. Imagine that on that day, he would have his day off 😂😢
7500 miles of disappointment.
The chances of you seeing him there is not that high. I work near there and have been for lunch about 4 times and I’ve never seen him unfortunately.
@@broissey He tends to work shifts with his staff... i can't imagine being over the grill a long time without needing a break.
6:27 the girl on the right isn't even touching or trying the hamburger lol... shes only eating pickles.
Wow seeing this guy everywhere lately, and always reminds me of Johnny Knoxvilles older brother
Trill Burger still is the King of burgers
Looks fantastic
CBS that last organization to find out about George Motz
I miss watching burger scholar 😢
This great man has now become a Legend and savior of the American burger story
Burgers ain't the only thing beefy there, mamma
Hamburger expert 😂😂😂
Better call the Burgermeister
These are great in a cast iron pan
visionary go George
He looks like the Aaron Franklin of the North
Some, please 🙏
The news woman on the right of the screen wearing big earrings at the end of this segment is merely eating a pickle with her fork. She's unconsciously saying..."I'm not clogging my arteries with this or exercising for 4 hours to burn off these calories"
She is a vegetarian.
"No ketchup"
*confused look at all the ketchup bottles on the bar*
BURGER SCHOLAR ON CBS! LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
no salmon burger?
He sounds like Tom Arnold!
He sounds like Dean Norris
Classic smash burgers
1:51 slim America
1:48 America nowadays
JOHNNY KNOXVILLE
is making
burgers ?
.
Cannibal burger 😂
Could be Joe's Uncle. Jus' saying.
Actually gross that back at the desk the woman asked “no turkey burger? No salmon burger?”
onion resembles his hair
3 oz pre-cooked ..what's he making white castles?
Who eats hamburgers with a fork? 🤣
Evil 😈 doers! 😳
When they offered the Olive burger (crumbled beef) you got a fork to eat what falls out of the bun☺
3:45 Steamed cheeseburgers are gross. It tastes bad. It's not healthier. I can see that the slimy fat stays on the burger when it is steamed.
👍
Floppy disc style😂😂😂
can we throw her in jail for using a fork to eat a pickle chip?
CASH IN GEORGE
Eating a hamburger with a fork? Elitist much?
i don’t get it americans
burger with hands
rice with spoons
A carnivore’s dream.
Our west, In and Out
Congratulations on this home style story, really who doesn’t like a hamburger. Wonderful meaning full story for those old enough to remember an Hamburger American. They were still part of the landscape when I was growing up, that was a while ago thou.
He should not budge about French fries
WTH! why is she eating a hamburger with a fork? that's ridiculous how do become that out of touch with being a regular person? Must be the money!
Public Service Announcement: STOP SMASHING YOUR BURGERS!
😂😂😂
Burger America's burgers are good but way overhyped. They're only in the news a lot lately because Motz is trying insanely hard to market himself and the restaurant.
Burgers are WAY too expensive for what you're getting. Absolute bs.
Avocado, wth?
To be called a burger, the meat patty has to be beef. Anything other is called a sandwich.
that's a hamburger specifically. a "burger" in the broader term is a patty of ground meat cooked somehow served on bread. Which is to say, those pedants in the UK and Australia calling it a "chicken burger" are Wrong.
NO there’s NO turkey, NO chicken, NO fish or any other ridiculous option.
CZcams ADS SUCK
1:47, look athow out of shape nearly all of those people who are sitting there "now" are, and then look what it used to be like "back in the day"... Think about that....
If this is history ‘MERICA then how much does it cost? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I see why chefs change jobs so often. Stress
I mean he’s cool I guess, but why does he get so much publicity?
If I ever make it to the communist democrat cesspool known as New York, I am definitely going to try this place out.
Lol imagine being so ignorant you think communism is the norm in the Democratic party. Maybe amongst early 20 year olds in blue states
You guys are out of your minds thinking this is good or tasty food.
Hamburger is not that complex
Hey CBS News, it’s pronounced “mutton” not “mu’ un” with a glottal stop. Please don’t be lazy in your pronunciation.
OMG! I just realized he also said, “Fla’ enned”. I didn’t hear it the first time because my head exploded with the first glottal stop. It just sounds lazy. Pronounce your words. How did you get on TV speaking like that?
@@ncrider2000 Local accent in NYC... Manha'in, for example...
He is a gem, but he is such a pot head. It just ruins the experience as a whole.
