    Just thought I’d mention,for those who don’t know…..after cooking,you can place one of the tabs of the lid into the slot(on top rim of cooker)….this gives you a place to put your lid instead of laying on the counter.😊❤👍

    First things first, thank you for your video. I'm new to my ninja pressure cooker and found your video very easy to understand. This is my first meal and, so far so good. I did everything you did. The spices, broth and it smells so good. Some people should keep their opinions to themselves. If they want more or less then do it. Don't bash the teacher. Looking forward to more of your videos. Again, thank you for helping me to get this going!!

    💕 I came back now that I actually have a pork sirloin roast. ha I'd forgotten about the rude husband. (Tell him "SHHHH!!!" ) 😏
    Anyway, I also saw a recipe where a lady added a packet of onion soup mix & then after the roast is done and as it rests on the cutting board, added a packet of gravy mix (& stirred of course) then put the pork back in to sit a few minutes until ready to plate.
    I believe I'll make potatoes in the pot first. Then take them out, make and set aside, while cooking the roast the roast.☺️😋
    💕💕💕 I'm going to make mine tonight or tomorrow. Just determining whether to use a frozen roast, or let it sit in fridge a day..🤔 Suggestions ?😉

      (from the "better late than never department")She did specify *Pressure cook* button
      (or "Manual") , High pressure setting for 45 minutes, those are the settings.
      _Natural release_ means she left the pot sealed until the "pin" drops (usually 10 to 20 minutes) rather than immediately releasing the pressure vent.
      FYI the most-used buttons for most cooks are "Saute", "Pressure Cook" _or_ "Manual" ,
      and "CANCEL/Keep Warm". The others are pre-programmed time and pressure settings for various food types. Use 'em if you like, or don't if you don't.

    The noisy guy busting thru the video was funny, especially your reaction. I have a pork roast about 6" long and 2" thick, so I think I'll put it in for 15 minutes under high pressure and check it's temp. I worry your 30 minutes will over cook it if that is possible in the instant pot... Thanks for your down to earth video.

    • @SteelyPaw
      @SteelyPaw Před 7 lety +6

      UP Date: I made the pork steak which was 8" long by 2.5" wide by 3/4" thick. I put a cup and one half of water in the 6 qt. Instant pot and mixed with, 2 tps. no sodium buyon beef paste. I marinated the pork in salt, pepper, and garlic power. I selected the stew/meat pre-set button, then minus to 15 minutes. I used the quick release for the steam and to open the lid. The internal temp of the pork was at 175 degrees so this could have be finished in probably 10 to 12 minutes. However, it was very tender, pulled apart with a pork and the flavor with a bit of tomato sauce is superior. Again, thanks for you video. I don't think I would have had the outcome I did without it. It would be good to note that I did not saute the pork before cooking it. I sauteed the last pork roast I did, and I really didn't see a difference in flavor or consistency.

      @@SteelyPaw thank you for this. I feel like some of my stuff, while good, could be cooked in less time.

    • @SteelyPaw
      @SteelyPaw Před 5 lety +3

      @@izmac9146 U are welcome.. You will get the hang of time fairly fast.. I use less, then cook it longer if needed. Don't forget about heating stuff up bowl in bowl, that is always 18 minutes max.. Put about two ccups of water in your IP, then sit a bowl with whatever your heating up on a trivet, I have the tall one about 4" high, and it will be boiling hot but without the worry of boiling over or burning it so you can walk away without worry.. Even if whatever your heating up is on the warming cycle a bit it won't hurt it... Bowl in bowl as I call it keeps in the flavor, cuts the risk of a kitchen catastrophe and if it's just you, you can eat it right out of the bowl.. I use pyrex bowls usually but I think you could use any bowl in the IP. I have a stainless one that fits in nice too. Something for you to think about if you haven't already. For example I heat up my canned clam chowder with mushrooms or my thawed made in a batch chili bowl in bowl... That way you don't have to add water to your left overs, the water is in the IP to make the steam and pressure you need while your left overs are snug in another bowl up out of the water.

    Help me, i try to make shells and it would not hold pressure. Sauteed onions and chop meat fine then added 2 cups water, i jar ragu cheddar cheese sauce and 1 bag shells. Put it on pressure cook,high,7 minutes hit start and when it started to cook no pressure. I could twist off the lid no problem. Pin did not pop up, i reset it several times but no go. Pasta was cooked though so ate it cleaned the pan and lid. Did the water test and it passed so go figure. Do you think 2 cups of water wasn't enough because it was adored by the shells leaving nothing for steam?

    How many lbs was this? I have a pork butt that is just over 6 lbs and I'm trying to figure out how long to cook it. This will only be my second time using this instant pot and I'm not over the fear of it. I am mostly afraid of ruining a great big hunk of meat, or having to choke it all down over a weeks time cause I'm trying not to waste money. Something I saw online indicated it would be 15 minutes/lb for this type of roast. I guess I'll go with that and do it for 90 minutes. I want to be able to slice it like you did yours. I received my Instant Pot about ten days ago. I ran the water test and it worked perfectly. Next day I followed some CZcams videos and cooked a pot roast that came out wonderful. A few days later I prepared everything, seared and started a beef stew but the pot wouldn't pressurize. I tried everything including making sure the pressure valve was clean and the seal was properly seated but nothing worked. I ended up finishing the stew in the oven.
    I should mention that when I received the Instant Pot I noticed that the cover over the pressure valve I'd seen in the CZcams videos before I ordered mine was missing. So I eMailed the manufacturer who responded promptly and told me the design was changed and that cover was no longer needed. So it seems that problems with this pressure valve is not something new.
    Bottom line is the Instant Pot concept is very seductive and I'd really like to have one but it seems there is a lurking failure in the design that I'd rather not have to worry about. So I eMailed Amazon and they had UPS pick mine up today for a refund.
    I wonder how many others have had failures after initial success(es). Should I consider myself lucky that mine quit working early-on rather than after the warranty period expired.?

      I've had my 6qt. instant pot for 2 months now, and I absolutely love it and have not had any issues with it at all.. Only remote thing I noticed was to insure the gasket was really snugged down into the lid or the cooker won't close. I had a Corsic 2 qt first, and it was too small, I sent it back to amazon for the larger instant pot which in my opinion works much better too.

      Michael Kessler - I have seen other comments like yours, Michael, about the inconsistency of the IP performance. Seems there may be a wide variance in production quality from the manufacturer. I'm blessed to have gotten one of the good IPs that has never been any problem.
      That said, the customer service department is very responsive. I had an issue with my electrical cord when my IP first arrived. They were so great at customer service when I notified them. Don't be hesitant about contacting them.
      Hope you can get your issues worked out so you can enjoy your IP the way I have mine!

      I've had my instant pot for 6 months now and I am sooooo happy with it. It seems to run flawlessly except I wished it would have come with the long handled trivet. Every time I take the lid off, I wipe the seal and inside of the lid perfectly dry and every so often I take the screen mesh cap off to ensure the valve is clean. I sure hope IP fixed your unit, they are one of the best things to have in the kitchen. As a single guy that doesn't like to cook that much, and likes a lot of one pot meals, the IP is right up my alley...

      Great question! I found this cut (pork boneless sirloin) didn't come out kind of mushy like the crockpot. Maybe because it doesn't cook as long. I thought it came out really well! It does take a lot of salt!

    • @SteelyPaw
      @SteelyPaw Před 7 lety +8

      I cooked a roast pork in mine too, using chicken broth (didn't have beef) and mine came out great. Trick is try not to over cook it to long, but the Instant Pot is a bit forgiving. I often will cook anything half the time they say then check it. Even if I have to re-pressurize and cook it more, it's still hands free, still sealed up, and while hot it will come to cooking pressure really fast. Then write down the size of the meat etc. then next time you'll have a really great idea how long to cook it for to make a perfect meal and you are not spending all the energy and time it takes to make a cut of meat in the oven. I've had my Instant Pot about 2 months and that is the style I came up with for cooking with it. I know from past experience for example it takes 4 minutes to cook 3 baked white potatoes cubed in about 1" squares for perfect consistency for potato salad and the same time or even 5 minutes for hard boiled eggs.

      If you use your sauté and brown it first it’s tons better with much more flavor and better texture. Try it with all meats because it changes the way you do pressure cooking.

    • @SteelyPaw
      @SteelyPaw Před 6 lety +4

      No the meat will end up nice with a good texture. cook on manual about 10 to15 minutes with 1-1/2 cups of liquid for a 1 to 11/2 inches thick piece of meat. Sherri Clark is right, that if you saute' the meat first it helps seal in the flavor and gives it a bit better texture but it's not mandatory. There is a saute' setting for your instant pot so you can do it right in there with about two table spoons of your favorite cooking oil.

    Actually, using locally raised pastured pork gives far more natural flavor, without the sodium from added salt needed to pull "flavor" from tasteless factory meats (heart disease!). Be healthy, buy local.

      @@FrugalFitMom really?? I def so would not have guessed being that those pieces of meat are not browned are braised/seared on outside to make that beautiful rich brown color and flavor for the gradoo/gradeau remains for so much flavorful gravy, esp when cooking in a cast iron skillet/pot. mmmm yum so much flavor, esp when the 'cooked down' cajun trinity [onions, celery, bell pepper].
