Needs to cook 6 hours on high, or on low 8 hours to fall apart. Brown and season the roast first to bring out more flavor. Only half the amount of those mushrooms. Cut the corn in half with a knife. That would be easier and won’t smash the corn. Wash the potatoes first and poke holes on them before adding to the crockpot. That would be easier.
The cool part of watching any of these recipe sites is that you get ideas to run with. They aren't things that are set in stone. Use ingredients you like; don't use the ones you don't like. Think positive and be kind. Use these sites as life-long learning opportunities.
Thank you for saying that in such a kind way. Those who have cooked longer sometimes nitpick, while a busy person sees a faster way to prepare a terrific meal. Wasn’t that the goal anyway😊I catch a new idea all the time from Justine. Have a lovely day~
I use lipton onion soup mix dry ,and cream of mushrooms soup 1 can of water and mushrooms onion, celery, carrots baby ones, cut my potatoes in chunk and I pepper and use minced garlic
There you go mama, you know how to flavor and cook a steak. I use the same ingredients as you but I also add 1 or 2 Sazon with coriander and annatto seasoning pack. You gotta brown that steak first.
All the extra comments about what to add is just perfect additions to Justine's staple! I liked the parchment paper, but similar to stew, I like the potatoes to soak up the flavoring of the meat --- they are less dry that way! Now the corn and some broccoli and some cauliflower on the parchment sounds good too! Keep them other comment/ideas coming!!
That was not tender at all. To be tender it should have been cooked another couple of hours or more on high, or about 4 more hours on low. To really get a LOT more flavor from your roast sear all sides of the roast in a hot fry pan before putting into your slow cooker. A huge Onion sliced thick adds lots of delicious flavor as do nice big chunks of carrots. For people that have to worry about sodium skip that salt laden gravy mix and opt for a no sodium beef bullion and no salt seasoning. We always add out uncut Potato the last couple of hours of cooking , lifting the roast so that the Potatoes can be put under the roast and are in the liquid. YUMMMY!!
Way too much water....i only use about a quarter cup, as the meat makes it's own juice..... remember, you're slow cooking meat , not boiling it!..... Will be more tender with less water.
Just finish the meat ad you decide. And, roast that corn in an iron skillet with butter to your liking also. Potatoes warmed in microwave with brushed oil to complete with salted skins... everyone has their way to the finish. But, growing up with onions and carrots on the bottom were a real treat, melt in your mouth! Thanks 😋
I like the idea of everything together .. I need carrots in there also, and that meat wasn’t ready, that meat needed another 2 hours so it could be spread apart easier
People must have some really low standards these days because yuck, tough and imo flavor lacking beef. I would suggest rubbing with olive oil and herbs/spices snd searing it before the crockpot, cooked long enough it will fall apart...no trying to saw it with your knife.🤦♀️
I like how she said the meat shreds. Then, she could barely cut it😂 A roast that size needs more than 4 hours to fall apart. And the potatoes looked about 3/4 cooked. And where are the carrots 🥕 🤔 No seasonings for the meat. Just gravy. No salt and pepper on the potatoes. And you cut them. Must have been her first time doing this. Well, practice makes perfect.
This was close to my dinner last night😊 We cut up the potatoes, carrots, onion, celery, lots of seasonings and the mushrooms. Wish I had thought about corn on the cob (next time). Thanks for sharing❤
Adding the parchment with the corn does look intriguing. But like you I do a lot of vegetables underneath the roast (have one going now) and my own sauce with spices. But I’d like to try the parchment and add corn also. I don’t know about others but I do an hour on high then the rest is low and slow! 👍🥰🇺🇸
I would have had to cut the corn with a knife cause I not have the strength to break them apart🥰, I Love your recipes, thanks for sharing them with us, You and your family including the fur babies have a wonderful and blessed day 🌞
@lorylovechan8362 My wife adds a cup of red wine as well.. but even before I was married and just adding 7-Up.. I couldn't taste it.. It doesn't make the meat sweet at all.. at least not to me or anyone else who has tasted my pot roast..
Omg looks delicious thank you so nice you can always add anything else you want So nice potatoes and corn are ready exactly when roast is done Thank you so much Gos bless you and your family 🙏🏼☺️🌹
Lower and slower. Brown with a light coat of flower. If you can afford that meat you can pick up beef broth instead of gravy packets. Add potatoes a few hours in. Carrots pair particularly well.
If you add flour to the juices, you will get a thicker proper gravy. Or coat the roast in flour and sear it before cooking. To each their own. That's the best thing about cooking.
I should have known better with my cooking experience. I meal prep for my family and myself. Don't waste your time folks! I just wasted a whole crockpot meal. To the content creator. I certainly don't want to discourage you my dear. Take your time, learn your herbs, spices, amd so on, and cook it. Short cuts like thos are handy in a time crunch, but your skimmping out. You can do better if you would put time, thought, passion, and effort into it. So let's go girl, let's see the aforementioned and set yourself apart feom other cooks and kitchens. I sear the meat with salt and pepper. I add garlic, onions, carrots, celery and mushrooms to the pot. Further season with dry onion flakes, some granulated garlic and onion and maybe a little Italian seasoning. Tomatoes too if I’m in the mood for them. Set it on low and cook for 6 hours. Potatoes are washed, dried, slathered in evoo and seasoned with salt then popped in the oven. No corn because too many carbs. Perhaps a salad or roasted veggies.
Would have actually been tender and ‘shreddable’ had it been set on low and cooked longer. 6-8 hours Crockpots tend to cook better in low than high when wanting that really tender, shredded meat. When I do my roast in the crockpot I don’t add water either.. the meat creates its own juices which blend with the spices/mixes etc and gives plenty of moisture for the mushrooms to cook down. Just my opinion and experience.
Always make my own gravy with the stock from the Meat if I’m doing any separately and oxo cube. This looks amazing I wouldn’t put sweetcorn in because I’m not a fan of that, but I definitely put carrots Swede turnip onion and maybe some home-made dumplings, but besides that this is wonderful. Thanks for the radio .😊🇬🇧👍
To all of you wannabe food critics: the gravy mix will season it plenty, the parchment paper is a brilliant idea, and if you like your roast cooked longer, feel free. No need to be rude to someone who’s simply sharing her recipe. It looks really good to me. Thanks for posting it, Justine.
Hello! YUMMY! That looks so good 😋 I can almost smell it LOL. You are GREAT keep up the good work. I enjoy watching both you and your husband's videos . 🎉

Instead of water, you could try beef broth to intensify the flavors and aroma. And as others have suggested, browning the meat prior to cooking in the crock pot can also add depth to the flavors and aroma.
I always loved mixing a can of cream of mushroom with a packet of french onion soup mix and putting that in with the roast. It smells and tastes soooo good, especially with some mashed potatoes and peas
If you use a Reynolds slow cooker bag, you don't gave to scrub the crockery pot. I start mine out on high for about an hour, then low for 6-7 hours to make it even more tender and the meat falls apart.
WOW!!!! This looks amazing. What cut of roast do you use? I've been having problems with my crock pot roasts lately. They all come out dull and bland along with being dry and hard to cut. I'm doing something wrong.
You can also save time and money and just add dry onion soup mix with a can of cream of mushroom soup. It cooks the roast well and also makes a great gravy.
I used an onion gravy mix and an auju mix. Brown meat first in butter and garlic.
Me too
Ooooh onion brown gravy tht sounds delicious
That's the way to do it!
That sounds yummy. I'm going to try that.
Ohhhh my 2 PKG of tht gravy mix. Thts SUPER SALTY.. I would Not use tht PKG. Stuff make ur own gravy 4 sure!!!!!

That's right she has a lot of good recipes I think she does pretty good job
Wouldn't you brown the meat to get more flavour out of it.
Yes
I use lipton onion soup mix dry ,and cream of mushrooms soup 1 can of water and mushrooms onion, celery, carrots baby ones, cut my potatoes in chunk and I pepper and use minced garlic
That sounds delicious gotta try it... thanks 👍
Sounds like a delicious stew
I do the onion soup packet and cream of mushroom too! Sooooo yummy
Try the beefy onion soup mix
There you go mama, you know how to flavor and cook a steak. I use the same ingredients as you but I also add 1 or 2 Sazon with coriander and annatto seasoning pack. You gotta brown that steak first.
Potatoes looks like they need a wash
Add carrots and onions
Yes cook meat another half hour" looks good"
Why?
Cooked carrots are like candy. YUM. 😋
Yes onions and carrots..how long did she cook it for I think I missed it..need to see what kind of meat too..wonder if the meat should be seasoned 1st
No carrots, please.

That looks tough and watery

Never use a knife to cut your meat in a crock pot.
Actually you don't have to put any water in it
I always brown my meat first before putting into the crock pot! Never raw.
Right! I never use water when I crockpot a roast.
@@Th3Irish1ATL7 exactly
It doesn’t look like that roast got very tender.
It needed to cook longer.
Yes needed longer it should of fell apart. To much other stuff in there! Looks like the potatoes needed more time!

💯... because, if it was tender, that roast would have come apart with the tongs .
Exactly I would let it cook longer and more seasonings
Low and slow. Low on 9 to 10 hours. That roast would have turned into butter.
What if your husband doesn't like mushrooms . What can you put in place it?

@@user-kc2yg7dm8p 🥕
Yum! I noticed if the meat is not shredding right away cook it for a little bit longer and it falls apart.
I would also let the meat rest for 20 minutes before cutting.
I was thinking the same thing
She was fighting that meat and losing.
It needed at least another hour.
My meat just flakes off, so tender! Cook longer next time it looks tough
Looks delicious. I like the idea of the parchment paper and potatoes and corn. Awesome. I'll try it. 🙏😁
Great step by step instructions. Going to the market right now and we’ll be having this for dinner. My family thanks you!!!

A roast without carrots is a sin yall. But so is not cuttin up them taters and lettin em swim in the juices. Give it a try an u wont be sorry 👍
No Season Huh..SMH..Goodbye😢😢
Mayo recipes never do 😏🥱
Low 6-8 hrs would have been much better. Also seasonings and veggies. To each their own.
Searing your meat first will improve flavor
No onions 😮 Didn’t wash anything. 😮

Wonderful idea. Thank you. Love watching you!
Ummm, garlic, onions, carrots, pepper. The meat wasn’t seasoned and no herbs. 😳
My sentiments, exactly. I season and sear before the crockpot.
Wasn't season... was it even washed....😮😮😮
Her seasoning was the gravy mix, some ppl like their red meat kinda bland- usually the French - Americans, LOL !

Instead of water, we add 7-UP.. you can't taste it in the meat, and the acid helps break it down, so it's not tough. It so tender..
No !! Better Red Wine or Brandy , 7- Up then its taste sweet the Meat

Put a can of condensed cream of mushroom soup in with the mushrooms and meat and gravy mix and you will get a thicker "gravy"
