Taking pregnancy tests and getting a clear result was such a SAGA this time around! I’m so glad I filmed it all so I could share this with you but SHEESH...what a journey. In today's pregnancy vlog, I take you along for all of the tests we took, Milo’s reaction to the big news, and some of the exciting and challenging moments of the first trimester so far. In early January, I just had the feeling that I was pregnant. Since I got my period back after having our son, Milo, my cycle has been super consistent and I’ve been tracking my ovulation with the Natural Cycles app. Once Michael and I decided we were ready to start trying to get pregnant again, we used the app to figure out when exactly I’d be ovulating. In January, when I was 8 days post-ovulation (8 DPO - right after our first time trying), I was feeling like something was different. I was experiencing this very subtle cramping and slight pinching that was similar to when I was pregnant with Milo!
I decided to take a test even though it was early just to see what it would say. Michael and I were so excited and our hearts were RACING! Then the test said…NOT PREGNANT! That was the start of a loooong journey (only a few days long but what felt like weeks) of taking multiple tests that said “not pregnant," seeing very faint lines, getting TWO error messages, finding out the tests I had were EXPIRED, and eventually going to the drugstore for a bunch of new tests to finally get a very clear positive result.
Putting aside the fact that I was having these subtle symptoms that were similar to my last pregnancy, I was pretty convinced I was pregnant based on some of the earlier tests. Those lines can be SO faint, but when they’re there, they’re there! I totally understand Michael being desperate for a test to very clearly say “PREGNANT” or “NOT PREGNANT” once and for all, though. It felt so good to have a definitive result - especially since it was the result we were hoping for! 🤍
I also included the sweet video of Milo that we used to tell our families that we’re expecting. He is SO excited and really *gets it*. He even told his teacher that there’s a baby in Mommy’s tummy! At the end of the vlog, I included some little moments from my first trimester - the good and the barf-y. 🤢 I also added a little teaser of tomorrow’s episode of my podcast, The Real Stuff, which will have clips from each week of this trimester so far.
We couldn’t be more excited for baby #2 and I can’t wait to bring you all along for the ride!

Congrats! So cute! Same thing happened for me on the second. The digital tests kept saying not pregnant, but my period never showed. Two days after my period was supposed to arrive, I finally got a positive test. Here we are 35 weeks later waiting for baby to arrive.

I will say for people in the comments if you see this don’t crack open your tests. It makes them invalid and sometimes it just shows up as two lines because that’s what just supposed to be there. I would only rely on a test if it actually shows up.

Maybe for some people you have to wait until the morning to do it but let me tell you my cheap butt went to dollar tree and bought 3! Three pregnancy tests and all three lit up like a Christmas tree. Also I didn't even take them in the morning. It was at like 7pm on a Friday and I thought well I haven't gotten my period yet, let me just get some and see. Sure enough, preggers. Lol. The following week scheduled an appointment with my doctor and confirmed it. I'm so excited for you all. Milo is going to be the SWEETEST big brother. I can already tell. He's just the sweetest little gentleman already. Such a beautiful family. Love you and all your videos Lucie.

Could you talk about the financial side of pregnancy and having a 0-2 year old as well as how much it costs to have the help of doulas, nannies, pre-school, etc? Congrats! But for the future all clearblue digitals have two lines when you open them. Obviously you're pregnant but many women who aren't open it and think they are, get excited just to be heartbroken that they weren't.

Digital tests always have two lines! Just so everyone knows! It tests more hormones than the others, which we always have in our system.

Is there a reason your expected period would be 10DPO? That’s very short! I got a positive test on the earliest day I could based on the info on the box, which was 4 days before my missed period and that day was 11DPO for me! my expected period would have been 15DPO.
No real reason!! Some people just have a naturally shorter luteal phase, and I know from tracking that mine is on the short side. Apparently shorter luteal phases can often lead to difficulties getting pregnant, but that wasn’t the case for me thankfully 🙏

You don't need to use digital tests. The ones that are just a strip do the same thing and cost a fraction of the price. 😊 I learned with testing a lot
