    Questions answered in this episode:
    1. Boots during turn out, I see lots of people turning horses out with brush boots and splint boots. Does this help or hurt the horse in any way? I've heard some people say it will make the horse’s legs weaker because they rely on the boots for support. Is there any truth to this? Is there any circumstance where boots would be beneficial during turnout?
    2. Is it safe to feed coconut oil? What are the benefits?
    3. At what age is it ok to start a young horse on a joint supplement? My 3 yr old QH is just starting her riding training and was wondering if she should be on a joint supplement? 🐴
    4. We are looking for footing options for our horse’s paddock. They are only in the paddock during nighttime. What are some of your suggestions for affordable paddock footing?
    5. PSSM types 1 & 2. What’s the difference? How to manage in terms of diet, exercise and feeding, any supplements that help? Which is worse in terms of maintenance and quality of life for the horse?

What is the difference between Bermuda, Timothy, Orchard and Teff grass hay? Also what hay would be best to feed with alfalfa to balance the calcium to phosphorus ratio?

Thank you for this. I’m bringing home a horse that has been diagnosed with PSSM1, and it is currently under control. The information given in this video was very helpful with understanding and preparing for bringing him home. He is currently being used as a hunter horse in lessons, and the reason for rehoming is that he is “too clumsy” to jump. I’m excited to have him join my small herd of misfits. I’m going to have him turned out 24/7, with shelter, BUT I would like to know if a dry lot would be best, or if he would be okay with a grazing muzzle? If dry lotted, he will be put with my mini, and have access to a round bale at all times. He is also currently getting 2 cups of grain a day, but I have not gotten the name of it yet. I do know it’s a Kalmbach feed.

    My questions are:
With summer approaching, I notice my horse's stool gets looser as the grass gets greener and more plentiful, why is this? Is loose stool ever normal?

Multiple questions ahead: Could a high EPG be from an underlying condition? If so, what conditions could cause a high EPG? Despite deworming via vet recommendations based off multiple fecal samples a year my gelding is still a high shedder. Could this just be his normal?

if it's their hair coat and it is spring, yes. They're shedding their winter coat so they won't be hot for summer.
